I was referred to Emma by a friend, and I was not disappointed. She was friendly, easy to talk with, and offered helpful tips about my hair. She listened carefully to my vision and questions, then worked with me to develop a style that would work best with my hair type and features. She explained everything she was doing so I understood how it would help with my hairstyle. I am incredibly happy with my new look! I've been driving to Jennifer Rd in Annapolis, MD, for three years now to get my hair done by Barbara. It's a 45-minute drive outside of rush hours, but it's worth every minute because I know I'll get the color, cut, and highlights just the way I like them. Sadly, I have to update my review. I've been to this salon 3 times in the past year... the first two times everything was amazing, but I'm not sure what happened this last time. The stylist that I saw, I'd seen before, and she had previously done an amazing job with balayage for me. I came in November the day I was to get our family photos taken, because I wanted my hair to be refreshed, and look great! I got an early appointment, and got in, and out. I didn't redo my hair that night; as the stylist had straightened it... but it had no body... which I had specifically asked for, my scalp was completely flat. I was stuck with that for my photos... but I could've lived with that. She even took after photos, which made me feel great... because it must look amazing! Posted them on her Instagram... not a huge deal, but when someone asked if that was 'Lindsey?' Instead of simply saying yes, she responded with my last name-which bothers me. Not to mention, it's not a flattering photo and she didn't cover my face with an emoji, or a dot, or scribble. I remember her moving my hair around for the photo she was taking... brushing some back - moving it around... and now I know why. She knew she had messed up, and instead of fixing it, she let me leave like that. 2 weeks later, I get my family photos back, and I see what a mess my hair is. I'm devastated. I called and had another stylist 'fix' it... only she didn't. I asked her to blend out the harsh bleach lines, and instead she just pulled a dark color down to the tips, which I also hate. I have since gotten a refund, well... awaiting it... but now I'll have to pay probably double for a correction of color somewhere else, so that refund doesn't really mean much to me. read more

When the haircut not only lacks ALL of the detail of what you asked for, and what the hair stylist said she could do, but the literally the only way to fix it is to buzz it all off at home, well, let's just say I won't be back. Only giving two stars instead of 1 because my stylist was sweet and I have a friend who had a better experience, but my experience with the cut here was awful. It was a huge waste of money and now it will be a long time before I have enough hair for the cut I actually wanted. read more

Disappointing. I won't return. I was skeptical about going out during COVID, but thought I'd give it a try. I walked in and waited near the front register by another patron. An employee came to retrieve the other customer, but never even acknowledged me standing there. They proceeded to a chair and got started on a consult. I waited a bit more for any of the 4 stylists to even say hello or look my direction. I won't say it's because am a Black woman, but it is a fact that I was the only Black woman in the salon. Shane is a hair designer. I gave him carte blanche to design a cut that he felt was me. No other direction than that. He nailed it. It's fun, easy for me to style and maintain. During Covid -19 lockdown I decided to let my hair grow as long as possible to donate to locks -of-love. It grew past my hips and I finally decided to get it cut. I wanted a new look with a new cut and color. I decided to go to Bubbles. I read through their info on line and booked the longest appointment I could, which was 3.5 hours. I arrived about 10 minutes late and was rushed to my stylist chair. As with all customers, getting my hair cut and colored was of high importance to me and required a level of trust with the stylist. Well, the whole experience was a disaster . Instead of listening to me she actually told me to stop talking and she just put my very long hair in a ponytail and cut about 8 inches off. You need 12 inches of hair or more to be able to donate and she knew this because I told her the requirements. She didn't care and all that time that I was growing out my hair was totally wasted because all she cared about was her next appointment. I was devastated that I couldn't donate my hair for someone that needed it such as a cancer patient that lost all their hair to chemo and wanted a wig. She took that from me. Then she told me to not talk anymore and left to do something...I don't know what she was doing because she didn't tell me. I was't even able to tell her what color I wanted or the cut. She just told me that due to time constraints that I will just have to settle with what she decided to be done. This was all within 15 minutes of sitting down in her chair, there was still 3 hours left to my appointment. Since she kept telling me that I MUST be done within 3 hours that she couldn't do what I wanted . I just wanted my hair colored one color ( very light blonde) with blonder highlights . My hair was already a level 9 which is very blonde. As for the cut, I just wanted her to trim the disaster she did with the ponytail cut. I didn't even ask for a blow dry. In my opinion, 3 hours should have been enough. By this time I was very upset because she basically told me to shut up , she ruined my ability to donate my hair and completely ignored me when I was trying to explain to her what I wanted. Apparently, her next appointment was more important than mine. I asked to speak to the manager who basically acted like it was all my fault for not booking a long enough appointment. I'm not a stylist but I am pretty sure 3.5 hours should have been enough. Management did not apologize nor did they offer to fix my hair. They said they would cut it but they did not have enough time to color it. They also said they were too busy to have another stylist do it. The place was totally empty for an hour. I have never been treated so badly by a retail establishment before. They were rude and unprofessional with no understanding nor the ability to diffuse the situation by really listening to me and taking responsibility for the rudeness and attitude of their "elite" stylist. By this time I was crying and very angry. All that was needed to make things right would have been a sincere apology for how I was spoken to and treated and acknowledgement of how badly the stylist and manager handled the situation. Oh yeah ...finishing my cut and color too, no matter how long it took, would have been nice because I was leaving town the very next day to a wedding and there was no way I could find a salon to fix the mess they made of my hair. I think the thing that upset me the most was their nonchalant attitude towards me. They didn't care that they destroyed my ability to donate my hair or that an employee actually told me to shut up or that I was being treated like I didn't matter. DO NOT go here. I would absolutely not recommend this place or Kailey for a cut at all. I made an appointment with someone named Bethany because she had good reviews online. When I got there, she wasn't even there and I saw Kailey. I was so confused. I gave her pretty specific instructions and even told her what size clippers to use. Not only was the cut uneven (I don't know how you cut at different lengths with clippers) and I had to fix it myself when I got home, but the top was cut so short to the part in a straight line down the center of my head that it won't lay flat. The cut is uneven, not blended well or at all in places, and not what I asked for. Thank God my hair grows fast and I can get it fixed somewhere by next weekend. When I called, the girl explained that Bethany wasn't working that day so I saw Kailey. I told her it would have been nice for someone to tell me so I could reschedule and that I would not be returning. She said in a very bubbly voice, "ok," indicating that she could not care less. Wow. I'll be posting this experience everywhere I can so no one makes the same mistake I did! The district manager called to apologize and refund me and now the staff is sending me hateful messages privately. Very mature. Maybe she should learn to cut hair and earn a good review! read more

Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with another salon. This salon is poorly managed. I was told by my stylist at 4:30, (my confirmed appointment time), that I'd have to wait until she put color on the woman who walked in five minutes behind me. She said she thought about trying to call me to move up my appointment. I checked my phone and she had not called. There was no apology, and no explanation. I had called the salon earlier that afternoon to confirm my appointment, and they could have told me that my stylist was running late. I don't think they are respectful of their clients' time, and what's worse, didn't even try to apologize or explain. I ended up walking out, and I'll never be back! read more

I always have a great experience here. Highly recommend Ginger if you have unruly curly hair!

Beware of asking for partial highlights. I think it's important to make sure that the stylist actually knows how to do that! My daughter paid $179 for partial highlights and came out looking as if she was in need of having her hair highlighted! There is a 2 inch stripe down the middle of her head where the highlights started. Not even close to starting up at the scalp. Also, the color selected was very close to the color of her natural hair, so did not give the overall effect of having had her hair done. OK, maybe even worse... my daughter elected not to have her hair blown dry after the appointment because it would cost an additional $48 to have the blow dryer run over her head! I guess the old adage is correct you get what you pay for! read more

I trusted she knew exactly what I wanted. I walked away with disappointed to see little change - esp after waiting 24 hrs after home shampoo. Price was $60 more than online, plus a generous tip. I am so disappointed in this salon. I have gone twice for coloring and felt comfortable with the stylist to have her give me a short cut. I showed a picture of the hair cut that I wanted and I received the most terrible cut I've had in all my years.... First, the cut was NOTHING like what I wanted, she left random long chunks of hair, the layers were beyond choppy and had no transition to them. I look like a toddler got hold of scissors while I was sleeping. I told her at several points that what she was doing is nothing like what I want. She asked her coworker if she could help achieve the cut and the other stylist said "just put product in it." I told them both that this is NOTHING like what I wanted. I had to tell her to just stop cutting. Holding in my tears, and trying not to cause a scene, I quickly payed and left. I've tried calling and emailing Bubbles corporate number but to no avail, no one has gotten back to me. My teenagers are saying that I look like Lord Farquaad from Shrek and a middle aged Dora... Now I have to find someone who is good with scissors to give me a proper cut or have hair put in. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

Stay away, stay FAR away. I went in for the simplest thing - to get my roots touched up. Instead of just doing my roots she insisted upon pulling the color over 2 inches of my new highlights. I was not happy at having my expensive highlights covered, but she insisted she needed to "blend the color" I wish I had jumped out of my seat. But I did not, I just bit my tongue and figured it would still look ok. Unfortunately when you cover freshly highlighted with another layer of color it is often too much for your hair. yes. This young brain trust BURNED MY HAIR OFF. for the next 6 weeks my hair was falling out and breaking at a horrible rate - I was leaving hand fulls of hair everywhere I went - in the tub, the sink, my hairbrush. I now have a small bald spot at my hairline and I am spending tons of money on olaplex and keratin treatments to rescue what hair I have left. My hair is going to look awful for a very long time. Five months later and I have Inches of stubble in random patches - most visible at the haithe line and part -my hair continues to look really bad- no cut will cure it. It's a nightmare. read more

Anyone with curly hair needs to see Barb. We all know how hard it is to find a stylist capable of cutting curly hair that actually turns out looking good. When I was looking for a stylist I called several salons asking if they had anyone who was really good with curly hair. If they paused or said "umm let me check," I would immediately hang up. If there's a stylist who can cut curly hair well they would be able to answer that question immediately. So when I called Bubbles they said Barb is great with curly hair. She's not just great, she's freaking amazing. My hair always turns out looking incredible. Anyone with curly hair needs to see Barb, I highly recommend her. Very dissatisfied. I made an appointment for a color and style the day of a holiday party with a stylist I had seen before. The stylist kept insisting that my hair needed to be cut and that SHE wanted to do something short on me after I've explicitly stated on many visits that I'm trying to grow my hair out. After several rounds of her pushing me and arguing back and fourth about what I want I permit her to trim my hair to my collar/shoulders area which was maybe an inch of length lost. She proceeded to cut SEVERAL inches off to the back of my neck leaving me looking like a 12 year old boy mere HOURS before this event that I had been preparing for for weeks! Completely insensitive to my needs and just did what she wanted. As soon as I got to my car I cried because I had no time to fix this disaster haircut and am now forced to face the public in such an embarrassing state . read more

I have waited for months to get my hair done, like most people during the recent Covid-19 pandemic. I made the appointment with Tiffany as always. She made me feel like a new person. Now to give you a bit of a back ground on this. I started going to Tiffany about 2 years ago when I had a hair color disaster to repair and need someone ASAP. My old hair tech had colored my hair with brown and a beautiful burgundy color for a corporate dinner I was attending and I loved it but it was too much color for work plus it bled into the blonde high lights in my hair. I was referred to Tiffany by a friend of my nieces. She was able to get my hair back to brown and healthy after just a few visits. Since then I regularly go to Bubbles but only for Tiffany. She has a true master of her craft and I will continue to have my hair done by Tiffany for as long as she is around to do so. Thank you Bubbles for having an amazing hair technician in your employment. She is a true asset and a gem. ZERO stars!! had an appointment today for a hair cut, arrived 5 (!!!) minutes late (because a previous appointment had run over a little), was told I couldn't be seen because I was late!!!!!! Never in my 51 years of life have I experienced anything like it. When I questioned why, I was told "25 minutes is not enough" - when I then said "But the appointment booked was for 45 minutes?" the person at the desk mumbled and grumbled and said something about the stylist having to leave and there was not enough time...I reiterated that all I wanted was a cut, didn't even want a blow dry and I KNOW this can be done in way less than 40 minutes, the lady said "well I could check with someone else but I can't guarantee it" - as if they were doing me a favor?? All I wanted was my allocated time, I would have been fine with 5 minutes less but clearly the stylist I was supposed to see didn't even have that much time, as they said something about 25 minutes.......I am still speechless; this is supposed to be a notch up from Haircuttery, yet I've NEVER had that kind of treatment there! In hindsight, it may have been a blessing in disguise as the salon didn't look very nice, nor did the people working there...it's never a good impression when staff working at a hair salon have godawful looking hair themselves, so I'm going to take my business elsewhere and will certainly NEVER attempt to set foot in this establishment ever again!!! read more
