She has a true compassion for what she does for sure! She feels for you and cares! While I was there a man walked in with a bag and when Nikeya asked how she can help, he said I'm here to help you. He saw a piece on the news or in a local paper and donated his wife's wig who had passed a few years back. She was so happy to meet him and appreciative of the donation as well. I will be going in to donate the wig Nikeya trimmed for me as a bit too dark for me but someone else may use for sure. I will also see about her adjusting a different wig I have now too. I'm incredibly picky about who does my hair, and there are so many mediocre, overpriced dry bars…read morepopping up. But Mane Haven is AMAZING and I'm so glad I found it -- on a Sunday! The interior of the salon is really polished and stylish but understated, and it's really quiet and peaceful. I have a sew-in weave/extensions, so I'm doubly wary of how my hair is handled and I'm used to spending 3+ hours getting it done (which is why Sunday appointments are such a convenience for me). I made an appointment for 3PM using Vagaro just before I went to bed, which was also extremely convenient. If you log into Vagaro, search for "Mane Haven" in Islip and you can make an appointment whenever. (I think I made mine at like 2:30 AM.) The shampoo part was excellent (using my favorite kind of tingly shampoo) and Kristin thoroughly cleaned my scalp under the braids. Stand dryers are not my favorite thing, and she hand dried my hair. In about an hour from start to finish! Kristin is also great to talk to and the salon ambiance is so pleasant. Mane Haven also does extensions, which is not uncommon at dry bars nowadays. But almost every dry bar doing extensions sticks to tape or keratin and does not have the necessary experience to do great extensions -- I had a weave going in, but I would feel comfortable getting extension services here, too. Prices are more than reasonable, and my hair came out so perfect! At other boutique dry bars, I've left with damp hair or neglected edges, but every aspect was 10/10. From style to service and cost was great, and I definitely think I will be back often. If you're going for a first-time visit and don't know Islip well, it's just west of Town Hall and between the candy place and the Acai bowl place. Also, there's a back entrance and marked spots that are in a larger lot -- make sure you park in the right ones.

They installed my first set of extensions after I lost all of my hair from chemo, and the results were incredible, especially considering how short, thin and fine my hair was. The extensions are super high quality. After a little over a year I went back and had a half pack added, and I honestly have never had hair that looked this good! Would never go anywhere else in the city! They are always so accommodating and have even fit me in same day to fix a weft when I snagged it on something (on two separate occasions!). I can't say enough wonderful things about RAE Beauty Company! From the very first consultation I had with Rae back in the summer, I felt like I'd found a true gem. Rae (the owner) is both personable and professional. She truly knows her craft. When I first walked in, I was feeling down about my hair changes due to my health, and Rae didn't just give me a hair consultation, she gave me a safe space to vent and feel heard. She left that day feeling hopeful. She had her hair relaxed today and she left feeling absolutely pleased and pain-free. They say pictures speak more than words, so I will provide the images below. For my birthday I wanted a different, new fresh look so I reached out to book a butterfly haircut with face framing. May 2 2025 I went for service, when the so-called hairstylist finish my service, she failed to provide a mirror so I could see the back of my haircut, but I lasted a long time there so I needed to leave. While I was waiting for my ride, I seemed the receptionist and the hairstylist who did my hair talking in a different language, but they both kept looking at me. I stood up and tried to see the back of my hair but since it was partially curled( which was a request I did not ask for it.) I couldn't really tell the horrible job that she had done. I had my boyfriend take a picture once I left the salon. I reached out and let them know the horrible job they did, so they unhappily booked me for the next day made it seem like the other hairstyles were extremely busy and I was being an Inconvenience. The hairstyle that I seen that day told me the girl Who styled my hair didn't even use the right scissors to cut my hair and she agreed my haircut was cut was horrible. She tried to fix it, but obviously could not attached to Hair the other stylist removed so the "fix" is still horrible. I even heard the new hairstyle tell another customer as I was leaving that my hair was ruined by another hairstylist in that salon.I reached out to them, received my refund. I did ask the receptionist why she kept looking at me once my haircut was done. She admitted she was asking my hairstylist. Why was my hair cut "so different" The hairstylist apparently told her that's what I asked for, mind you she seen it was horrible and was the person who booked my appointment when I specifically asked for face framing, butterfly haircut. receptionist didn't provide me a mirror or bothered to take five seconds to ask if I was satisfied with my service. after all this was said and done, my hair is completely ruined. They chopped half of my hair off. The owner never bothered to reach out to me even though she was aware of the situationand the receptionist only advice was I hope your hair grows fast.. I took all the correct steps. I looked for a certified location and had this unfortunate, terrible traumatizing service not to mention it's permanent till my hair grows out. I am writing this review for anyone who does the mistake of going to the website and seen the beautiful work, but the truth is otherwise. Please, please please do not come to this hair salon. It should be shut down. Avoid the emotional damage they cause with a smile. The owner never reached out, even though the receptionist let me know she was aware of my situation. The owner only solution was a manicure which I was appalled, since it had nothing to do with my service, and I denied the free manicure In the fear of what else could go wrong or losing a finger. What made sense to me was maybe 1 of the products in the salon since they had walls full of them but they denied it.
