Mother's Crepe has just recently opened up in Adelaide, and is located on Grote St. They share…read moretheir seating area with Chatime, the bubble tea store next door. They have 135 crepes on the menu, which is why it is a good idea to include the menu number when ordering, as some of the names are quite similar. There are plastic displays and TV screens near the register showing just some of what they have to offer. The full menu all looks appetizing, with both sweet and savoury crepes available. I tried the prosciutto and cheese, thinking: "I like prosciutto, I like cheese. This will probably taste just like a pizza, right?" It didn't, but it wasn't half bad. Being prosciutto and cheese, the ingredients obviously blended together nicely, but the crepe itself had a sweet, fortune-cookie-like taste to it. Well it WAS a crepe after all. So all in all it was... Different. But don't get turned off just yet. I also tried a chocolate crepe with melted dark Hershey's chocolate and nutella. It was heavenly; I can't even begin to describe. To make matters worse for my gym seshes that week, it was topped with custard and strawberries. The seating arrangements are so cute, with colourful booths and tables filling the store. While it sort of feels like a daycare or the kids' section of a fast food chain, all those bright colours made me happy! So did the prices, ranging from $4-$7 for a crepe - nice.

My personal favourite (apart from the classic Nutella & banana) is their banana brownie custard....sweet, creamy and oh so addictive! The staff are super friendly and the colourful cafe has plenty of tables if you're with a group of friends. Looking forward to returning :)

Needless to say it has haunted my dreams since, so today after a hard workout my husband and I biked over for lunch. The first thing that strikes you while approaching from Kitchener Street is the lush, inviting covered wrap around porch; there is plentiful and adequately spaced tables located here (so as not to be forced to overhear unwanted convos). Next, upon entering this clean and tidy cottage you will notice three separate distinct seating areas: the main dining area, a smaller dining area tucked away by the kitchen and pastry counter, and a delightful and welcoming covered deck. We were promptly greeted by one of the friendly staff and seated straight away. Tap water, glasses, and menus were waiting at the table and after an appropriate amount of time our order was taken and special requests confirmed. This place is really busy but it seems well managed; the staff is very attentive without being intrusive. As we waited for our order we noticed the bustling and efficient staff who worked like a well oiled machine - dirty dishes were quickly removed from tables, additional carafes of tap water were dropped off without being asked for, and patrons seemed relaxed, very happy, and satisfied. By meals' end we, too, were among those happy people. My husband ordered a sandwich that I struggle to recall the name ;( it was a hearty sandwich made from perfectly toasted sourdough, grilled chicken breast meat, swiss cheese, garlic aioli, a mix of tender and flavourful greens, and crispy bacon. I ordered the smashed avocado with feta on the same delightfully prepared sourdough. It, too, came with a generous portion of greens. We could not be happier with our newfound neighbourhood brekkie place. AND there is a coffee loyalty card to boot!

You couldn't add Kale even though one dish had it and the outdoor area had a strong bad smell. Still the coffee was great and the juice and food was good. My partner didn't like hers but I would come back and try again.

When you arrive just order coffee, a chocolate salted caramel brownie and sit down at one of their nanna tables. Do not pass GO, or the 100 crocheted, wooden, ceramic tiled items of jewellery. Skip the ironic tea towels hanging on the wall or cards saying "If I were a zombie I'd totally eat your brains." Just sit down. I wasn't sure that it would live up to the hype--I mean, look at all these 5 star reviews! I am pleased to say that it did. Great staff, very friendly and helpful, delicious food and coffee and another place in Adelaide that make a great flat white with a shot of vanilla. Excellent! Our little group sat at the back table and chatted while we had our drinks and our brunch. The only real negative here (and it's a little one) is that the table wasn't cleared of our plates once we'd finished eating. And we stayed there for an hour after finishing our food, so that was a bit meh. Otherwise, E for Ethel is a nice little hideaway in North Adelaide and I can see why it's so popular and well-loved. Will be back for sure.

I got my coffee ok which tasted great. I had to wait longer for the pancakes. I noticed the owner leaving the shop then later coming back into the shop with a yellow and red packet in his hand and I was already on alert as I recognized the package. 5 minutes later my 'freshly made' pancakes arrive and after the first look, then taste, it was obviously Golden pancakes from Woolworths supermarket. I went to the counter and said that my coffee was lovely but I was upset that they would serve pancakes from the supermarket. The owner just looked at me, shrugged and said 'sorry', nothing else, just 'sorry'. I think she was just saying sorry that I found them out. That's it... no real apology, no offer of an excuse or refund, nothing. My family and friends won't be eating there again as they obviously don't care about customer service or quality. Just thought I would let you know that I have shared this on social media as this was a deception. I hate being lied to and being misled. The description was 'freshly made' pancakes. I am just sorry that they are ruining the brand name. I am very disappointed and angry even now which is 9 hours later.
