I had tacos Al pastor and carnitas. I live in San Diego county, and I can tell you this Mexican food was as good as you're going to get in ATL without getting on a plane. Service was on point. Make sure to get chips, they make their own tortillas on site.

Big Mexican restaurant at Halcyon. Great for big groups…read more Service was super quick with waiters coming by often and taking drink and food orders quickly. Food also came out pretty fast. Hostess was quick in seating us as well. However, it did feel like we were being rushed out. Waiter came to us a few times asking if we needed boxes even though we kept telling him we were still eating. The food and drinks were just okay. It was seasoned a bit too strongly for my taste. I may come again if I'm in the area craving Mexican food but it's not something I'd come all the way to halcyon for. There are definitely better options.

The restaurant wasn't busy, but service moved with the urgency of a government committee reviewing paperwork. We ordered tableside guacamole early in the meal. It never arrived. To be fair, nobody ever claimed it would arrive. It was eventually removed from the bill after we reminded our server that we had ordered it sometime during the previous fiscal year. The food was... fine. My son's chicken tenders were crispy, although he described the flavor as "part chicken, part fish." Not a sentence you love hearing when chicken is the goal. The real star of the show was the kids' fries. They arrived cold, rubbery, and with the texture of something that had already lived a full and meaningful life. We sent them back and asked for fresh fries. The server returned with what appeared to be the exact same fries. I can't prove it was the same batch, but if those weren't the original fries, then they had an identical twin with the same hopes, dreams, and body temperature. After politely escalating the matter beyond what should ever be required for a french fry, fresh fries finally appeared. Remarkably, hot fries are better than cold rubber fries. Revolutionary stuff. Overall, the meal wasn't terrible, but it felt like every part of the experience required a follow up email. If the guacamole ever arrives, please let me know. I'm emotionally invested at this point.

There was no one at the counter so I waited. There was a young white woman at the register looking at receipts (that was weird), through an open door that lead to the back was a young Hispanic woman washing dishes and a young Indian man walking around. Both looked at me several times, laughed, and never came out. The restaurant was NOT busy at all. The white woman still hadn't moved and the other two in the kitchen still made no effort to come to the front. After a few very uncomfortable minutes, I picked up my things and turned to leave. I wanted to pull my phone to record, but I just wanted to leave. In this day and age... As I was leaving and had reached the door, a customer leaving at the same had seen me standing there, looked over his shoulder and told me the Indian man was coming to the front, but why would I spend my money there? I thanked him and left. Willy's, do better. EDIT 4/26/26 - I've been traveling for my company, and I wanted to update. The district manager did reach out to me and I sent a time stamp picture of the time when I was there. I received an apology and was extended an offer to return. I thank her and appreciated her quick response, but I won't ever return. You only have to treat me like that once. I hope they improve and teach their staff better customer service skills. To clarify, I didn't view this as a racial issue, but no one wore name tags that I could see, so by color was the only way I could identify them.

The service alone deserves high praise. The margarita was reasonably strong and they do make them frozen here. Too many Mexican places only do on the rocks which was a nice surprise to find them frozen here. The food selection is your typical Tex-Mex. It was very tasty and the portion sizes were huge for the price we paid. If you're looking for a neighborhood Mexican restaurant then this is pretty good and sure beats driving to Buford Hwy or elsewhere.

Quesadilla appetizer---I'll pass on that next time, they weren't really good. I got the beef version and it tasted really BLEH to me...overly salty and the beef was mushy in the sauce. Fajita for two---SOOO much food. Seriously, sooooooo much. They really do pile on that steak and sauteed peppers and onions. Plates were piping hot, something I also liked. Texas margarita was hella strong...score! Definitely worth a try, it's your typical tex-mex restaurant. Very cheap pricing. Ask for KAREN---she made the experience wonderful!

We came in with a larger group recently, which gave us a chance to sample a little bit of everything. The only real downside lately has been the table service, which has felt a bit lacking. If you want the best experience, my pro-tip is to skip the dining room tables and sit at the bar. The service there is consistently fantastic, attentive, and fast. Overall, it's still a favorite go-to spot for Mexican food, just choose your seating wisely!
