Shrimpers Heaven & Bourbon Street mahi and shrimp
Sarah E.

We've visited Bubba Gump's several times when we're at MOA & they always have really good seafood choices & are actually reasonably priced. On our most recent visit, my husband had the Bourbon Street Mahi & Shrimp and I got Shrimpers Heaven. I love the Shrimpers heaven for the variety I get in both shrimp & sauce. My husband really likes their blackening seasoning on his proteins. The one thing I will say that could be improved is their hostesses. They seem to wander off a lot & people stand around looking lost waiting for them. Sometimes they're outside the doors, sometimes by the menus inside, sometimes completely MIA. Could definitely improve here.

We stopped at bubba gump shrimp during our mall of America bar crawl and ended up having the most pleasant server Kamala. She was seriously the best at her job. So attentive and caring for our group, going the extra mile to explain menu items. She totally made our experience unforgettable!

It's not a trip to the Mall of America without a trip to either Bubba Gump or the Rainforest Cafe. This fun Forrest-Gump restaurant is overpriced and the food isn't the main draw--that's the decor. However, it did exceed our (low) expectations. Our food was tasty and the service was good.

Grilled Shrimp Skewer

RC wanted to celebrate his new job and picked a great sushi spot in the MOA (on a Saturday...); it had a 90-minute wait list, so we wandered over to Bubba Gump where we knew the seafood was good. We waited about 20 minutes and we were up! Our server, Levi, greeted us at once although the restaurant was very busy. We ordered drinks and settled in to peruse the menu. The atmosphere here is a little noisy, but fun with Gump memorabilia adorning the walls. A TV over the bar played Forrest Gump on repeat. Other TVs were tuned to sports. We like Fried pickles, so we got the app to share. The pickles are chips which I prefer to spears and the tempura breading was light and crispy. They came with ranch, which neither of us cares for, but a few glugs of Tabasco and you have Southwestern ranch! Delicious. RC decided on the Cajun spiced Crab & Shrimp boil, a low-country boil done right! Delivered in a pot and dumped onto a faux newspaper-covered tray the snow crab legs and fat, plump shrimp were joined by small cobs of corn, potatoes, and chunks of andouille sausage. I tasted a bit of crab and spice was perfect, heat and a little sweet from the crab. I told Levi I just wanted shrimp and he pointed me to the sides where I ordered a Grilled Shrimp Skewer. Six fat, tail on, beautifully spiced and grilled was the perfect amount of food for me. Service was excellent, attentive and friendly. As a former server (decades ago) I was impressed by the notches in the plastic tumblers, allowing servers to stack glasses securely and carry five or more at a time! Truly enjoyable.

Mahihi Fish with grilled shrimp and Baja Ceviche for appetizers
Miranda M.

We went there for Saturday dinner, and we were on the waitlist for about 40 minutes! Lots of families and people celebrating birthdays! So, if you want a lowkey, quiet dinner, this might not be the place for you especially on a Saturday! Server was really nice and checked in on us periodically! But, he forgot one of our appetizers. We had enough food ordered so we didn't care to bring it up! (It wasn't charged either.) Mahihi fish was really good! Good thing is they listed amount of calories beside each item! If you are looking for lower calories meal with lesser oil, I'd definitely recommend the Mahihi and grilled shrimp! Forrest seafood feast is okay! Portion size was big, but everything was fried. So, we got tired of eating it eventually and packed some to go! The fish fillet was also salty, but shrimp was fine. They also do free refills for sodas, but the price is on the higher side for sodas. They also have their own bathrooms, which is really nice given that the public bathrooms are packed especially on this floor! There's a license plate sign on each table, and if you flip it, it indicates that you need assistance!!

Great service from our server Nicholas! Everything came out quick (and correct!) and the food was very tasty. I got the seasonal mahi mahi with lobster cream and it was a great choice. I always love the vibe in Bubba Gumps since jts a forrest gump theme and so cute! Really enjoyed this stop in MOA!

Jenny's Salmon and Shrimp
Sammy K.

The food was amazing. I ordered Jenny's Salmon and shrimp. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the salmon that came out. It was a bigger piece than most places give. The shrimp had a phenomal char on them which added amazing flavor! The rice and broccoli complimented the dish perfectly as it was light but still filling. The host was great and should be a waitress. She made me feel welcomed immediately. The server was good. She was working multiple tables but still came over to check on me a few times without SL being overbearing. The place is cool and has a big bar. Gift shop full of things from the movie Forest Gump. Not much space but I was seated comfortably! Happy I finally got to try it out!!!

Outside seating

Upon insistence from out of town friends, who wanted to eat here as their hometown did not have a Bubba Gump Shrimp, went here on a Saturday evening. The place was maybe 1/4 full(not a great sign). The host was super nice and so was our server. The restaurant is clean. The server did the forest gump trivia which our party enjoyed. Only ding about the ambiance is that outside seating has loud music playing so talking with each other can be difficult. Now onto the food and hence the rating. The menu is limited, which is not a big deal, but man, if your menu is limited, you would think that they would focus on the quality but the food was mid at best. We had a couple of appetizers including calamari and multiple entrees and for some items the salt was too much but for others like Alabama chicken, the food was just bland. Between appetizers, drinks and entrees, we paid about $150 for the party of 4, and imo, the food was not worth it. But again kudos to the staff working there, they were all smiles, accommodating and trying to ensure that people have a good experience.

Great time! The server Chase was amazing and full of character. Food wasn't too bad either.

Strawberry salad

Ordered the strawberry salad. It was as delicious as. It had plenty of chicken, nuts, apples and strawberries. The dressing was light and very good . Service was quick and responsive.

Service tremendously SLOW!! Not enough staff working. Food took an excessive amount of time to reach the table. Greeter was friendly but performing several jobs. The bar associate was handling a large dining area. When our food arrived, my fries were not hot and the Seafood Fest was NOT worth $26! Very disappointed.

Shrimp Mac and cheese

The service was fine. However I got like a bowl of grease when I ordered my Mac and cheese. They don't have blueberry lemonade anymore and the po boy sandwich was basically dis assembling its self with every bite. 1 appetizer and 1 entree with 2 non alcoholic drinks was 50$ and tbh a complete waste of money. Will NEVER be eating here again. I've had better Mac and cheese at Panera. The ambience is giving you went you your granny's house that can't cook! Hope that helps

My dinner was especially good....the chicken fried perfectly...all dark meat the way I like it. The potato salad was not what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm used to a mayo based potato salad but this was even better with lots of flavor! The corn was also delicious. Everyone was very happy with their dinners. The chicken and waffle dish was also good. Ratio of breading to chicken was perfect and perfectly seasoned. The honey butter that came with it was also delicious. The New Orleans shrimp bowl was great too. The ratio of shrimp, which was perfectly cooked, to rice was good. Lots of great flavor. I think that everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. The only "ding" would be the service. We had to ask for silverware so we could eat and had to wait for straws because she forgot. I'm still going to give it 5 stars even though the service was lacking a bit. She was very nice but seemed rushed.

I ordered the Social salad. It was good but the presentation was trash. I also got a cup of the She - Crab soup. It was also just okay and certainly overpriced. Husband got the Pork Belly Burnt Ends at my suggestion. He asked if they had sauce added to them and if so, to get it on the side. Our server said they are prepared and the sauce caramelizes so no, no sauce. He asked due to being a type 1 diabetic and needed to calculate his insulin. Well, they came out covered in fresh sauce and were too dry to swallow. There were six chewed up bits of pork left on his plate when it was cleaned away. The Texas toast was the only redemption. Lastly the two others shared the half bird entree. Presentation was haphazard and the chicken was visually dry looking. They ate most of it and said the biscuit and sweet potatoes were good. The food alone wasn't bad enough to keep me away; but combining it with the service was. Our server Laura (sp?) didn't make her debut well after we've been sitting 10 minutes. We were there at 5:30 on Sunday. It wasn't busy at all. She was very nice. Her second stop was to take our orders. Food runner came and asked if we needed anything else. I asked for water as my glass was bone dry (I even ate my ice) and others' were 1/4-1/3 full. She said she couldn't bring beverages. It's water...not vodka. Weird. So Laura eventually comes back and filled our drinks and left the bill. She did overhear the birthday happenings and was nice enough to offer a free dessert. She got her cash payment and we never saw her again. Maybe it was the end of her shift? It just felt off. The table next to us had quite a few complaints and had a different server, so maybe there was just a bad vibe with the staff today? Hopefully management can figure it out. Bathrooms were nice and decor was nice throughout the restaurant.

This location is blocks away from my job as well as close to home. I recently looked over the menu and found that they offered quite a few non seafood options that sounded good enough for me. I went with the Tennessee Hot Chicken sandwich and my mom got the Crispy Lemon Chicken. The sandwich was good, wasn't as spicy as I hoped it would be but still good. I upgraded chips to cajun fries and those were good. The Crispy Lemon chicken was okay to me, my mom enjoyed it but didn't like the mashed potatoes it came with. She said they were too lumpy. We also shared a crab cake - still too fishy for me lol, but my mom liked it. I got a raspberry lemon drop martini and it was a bit watered down tasting but I'd definitely go back and try some other options. Our server was really nice and attentive. I especially loved the open kitchen concept...it was neat to watch them prepare the line-up of meats! I loved reading the "testament" in the entryway. I ordered the two-meat combo with ribs and pulled pork. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. I paired them with "Dixie Red" which was my fav! For sides, the platter came with a cornbread muffin and it was so good I ended up ordering a second (Oops). It had what tasted like a butter or honey butter drizzle and YIKES it was dangerously good. The employees were super friendly and helpful. One in particular greeted every single person coming in and leaving. Loved that. You just don't see that kind of service as often anymore. The restaurant itself was very clean, with plenty of seating available. Fun fact, they also have a food truck, which gives me hope since the location isn't super close to home. Yelp reviewers have no taste. They just want a slab of meat and they're all happy. I should've tried their sauces before I bought anything. The barbecue sauces were all ketchup based. They added in too much apple cider vinegar and the sauces were too viscous and runny. A good barbecue sauce has molasses, brown sugar, and tomato sauce not ketchup and white sugar which is what these were made from. I'd have been better off bringing in my own bottle of barbecue sauce from the grocery store. We ordered a half rack 6 ribs and two sides of coleslaw and potato salad. The coleslaw was runny and too liquidy. It had zero buttermilk in it. It was also made with apple cider vinegar which is a HUGE NO, NO. The potato salad was meh. No mustard. Just white potato salad. THEY HAD NO CORNBREAD! How much does a box of jiffy cornbread cost?!? Seriously, this business should NOT be in the rib business. The half rack of ribs: DRY, DRY, DRY. They were baked way too long. The ribs were flavor-less. I would not go back again. It's a huge shame for a rib joint to be this bad. The ribs were such a huge disappointment. Not even a smoked flavor was ever detected.
