when we first got here the environment was pretty good, our orders were taken quick and we got our drinks pretty soon after. our food took about an hour to get to our table, the portions weren't that large, and prices were pretty high. i ordered the shrimp scampi; my shrimp were overcooked, and my noodles weren't cooked enough. someone else in our group ordered the shrimp po boy, it didn't taste good, there was hardly any shrimp in it. i'd say the best part of this restaurant was the souvenir cup i got with my boba lemonade. read more

Having always wanted to try Bubba Gump, we decided to give it a try on a recent visit to Mall of America. They don't take reservations, but you can use Yelp to get on the waitlist ahead of time. We were seated within a few minutes of arriving after being on the waitlist about two hours even though it didn't seem too busy inside. The server was quite friendly, and the menu is full of various seafood and non-seafood items. I tried the spiked peach Palmer cocktail which was fruity but also quite strong. Overall good. We also shared a Caesar salad. A fairly standard salad with a tasty dressing tossed throughout. For an entree I decided to try the coconut shrimp. Very tasty! Delicious coconut coating without being overly "coconutty," and it was not oily or greasy. We passed on dessert (they seemed to only have two options) as we had a box of cookies from a bakery in the mall. We decided to sign up for their Landry's select club loyalty program. It works at Bubba Gump's and a variety of other restaurants nationwide. It's $25 to signup, but you get a $25 reward for next time. It seemed like a good thing to do. You also get a $25 reward on your birthday, points for whatever you spend, and priority seating if the restaurant is busy. Overall this was a tasty meal with friendly service. I've had the jambalaya a couple times since it returned to the menu after the pandemic. Sadly, they changed the recipe and not for the better. The description lists andouille sausage and tasso ham as two of the ingredients. These used to be obvious in the old version but I could not detect them in my dish. The flavor is different now as well. It's just a boring, generic Cajun flavor (cayenne and salt for the most part). Seems many places used the pandemic as an excuse to reduce quality and raise prices and BG is no exception. Too bad. Visited mall of America for the first time & wanted to get food. Most of the restaurants had a long wait but we got lucky being sat quickly at Bubba Gumps. My spicy Bloody Mary was so good but did take quite a while to get to the table. I ordered the fried chicken & pickles which came out hot & delicious! I paired it with their house ranch. Good place to take kids, lot of things to look at, and kids get a kick out of the meal being served in a paper boat & coming with blue jello. I've had a few different things, such as the shrimp po boy, which is pretty solid, and the ribs, which are solid as well. My wife got the Jambalaya, solid too. Always a great place! If you love seafood, this is the place. Mall of America has so many options, but we have eaten here every single time. I got the dumb luck coconut shrimp, and while it was all fried, it didn't feel that heavy. The coleslaw was good, but the real winner is the sweet mustard side sauce you get. We also got the grilled seafood trio and the ping pong chicken pasta. Both was delicious according to my parents. She was our server and provided excellent service, including menu recommendations (that were spot on), friendly banter, and was very attentive. The mash potatoes and gravy were ice cold. The waitress brought more potatoes and gravy. The potatoes were warm, not hot. The gravy was once again ice cold. The manager came over and I explained the problem. She comped my meal because of the gravy but come on get the kitchen staff on the ball. How hard is it to make the meal hot and served correctly! I don't really recommend this place unless you want to get the expensive drink glasses and the Bubba Gump experience. This deserves a negative one fork down rating. I won't go back again. read more

Our server was super nice on Friday 06/24/2022. She was training a younger lady. They were both so kind and very talkative. We had a blast in this restaurant! The Mahi mahi was absolutely amazing! The jambalaya was a bit too liquidy however the taste was there! The drinks were super good, they have a HUGE cocktail menu and a big selection of Forrest Gump merchandise you can choose from as well as get cocktails in FG glasses and then they give you clean & boxed up glasses in the souvenir store when you show your receipt that you got the special cocktail with the glass. Visited Bubba Gump for the first time at the MoA with a friend who had gone multiple times. I am new to the world of seafood, I grew up disliking it so I was excited to try something new. The menu itself is a little simpler than I had thought. But then again, how many different ways can you do shrimp and seafood in a land-locked state? I digress. Our waiter was nice, if not a little overly cheery but was pretty inattentive after seating us. The atmosphere here is fine, it's meant to be a mix of the movie and a fishing boat, which I think it succeeds in. Our food arrived pretty quickly after we ordered it, not sure if that's a good or a bad thing but my fish & chips were excellent. The batter was great and I got a lot of fish for what I was paying for ($14). You can ask for a larger portion for $18 but I could barely finish what I had, so the regular was perfect. I didn't try the garlic shrimp but my friend was a little disappointed in that many still had the veins and she had to remove them herself. Overall, my experience was pretty good. Wasn't too loud, food arrived quickly and was delicious. Not sure I would go back, I'd want to try more places first, but not a bad lunch or dinner spot. read more

I will start with our waiter - he was great, engaging and seemed to enjoy his job. We were seated promptly and he was quick to come over. However we were not impressed with the food. Strawberry salad was not worth the price, less than impressive portion with thinly sliced "boiled tasting" chicken. Wife actually left the chicken alone. Shrimp mac-n-cheese was okay but dry. Nothing special. Onion rings were of the frozen variety...nothing special there either. Cajun boiled shrimp was good - 1/2 pound. Would have loved (for the price) if it included an ear of corn in the same seasoning...that would have been tasty. The fried chicken plate was bland. Good size portion but lacking real seasoning and flavor. Even the ears of corn were served unseasoned or unbuttered. Sorry to say that we just weren't "wowed" with the food here for the price we had to pay. The place and theme were neat but it fell short in the dining experience. The service was fine. The food...just no. Ordered garlic bread for the appetizer. Nothing with if, no cheese, no sauce, no olive oil, just dry garlic bread. The meal took a really long time (even the server said so) so was expecting maybe the kitchen was backed up. Nope. The only thing that came out warm-ish was the kids meal. Everything else was absolutely sitting in the window all the sauces had a crust on them. We ordered the $2 add on of Mac and cheese with the kids meal and it was literally cold and rubbery Kraft instant Mac (and was charged $3.99) Sent it back along with our $27 Forrest's seafood "feast" which was about a cup of French fries, four shrimp, one fish filet and 2 hush puppies. It came back hot, which was fine, but by then it was 45 minutes for this so called "feast". It appeared that there was a discount at the end of the check due to the food being cold, which actually wasn't a discount because they had to ring it in again for the kitchen. I don't know if that was corporate or what but just seemed like it was a sham "discounting" on the end of the check. Anyway it was $100 meal that was absolutely not worth it. I never been to one and I pass by the one on the Las Vegas Strip often. Instead decided to try one all the way inside the Mall of America Minneapolis! Had a fun feel a lot like how I expected. Our server was a riot in his humor which went with the theme of the restaurant. The strawberry pina colada was a bit sweet for me. Caesar was good. I thought the shrimp basket was yummy but also super heavy and by the end of it you just don't want anymore fried food.
