This was such an exquisite and memorable place during my visit to Paris. It's tiny and tucked away, but the inside is adorable. It's dimly lit with red lighting, and the decor is vintage eclectic. It's owned by Jean Luc, and he speaks English as well as various other languages. He's very intimate with his patrons, and likes to listen in and butt into conversation. He has tons and tons of wine selections. The Kir is great. This is a wonderful date spot, or a good place to catch up with a friend or two. Space is limited, so don't bring a crowd.

Had a great night here. It's a hidden secret bar which contains cozy lovely atmosphere and there was an old man who owns buns good CD music , and lots imported good wine. You can discuss wz he owner he will recommend some wine just satisfy your notes. Last time we had an bottle of Portuguese wine which was from little winery, but surprisingly it tasted like burgundy! Very cool Place, would love to come back to have more wonderful nights!

I'm still hanging my head in shame about having been kicked out at the end of the night during my last visit to Bubar. I should have known better than to invite everyone under the sun to my birthday party here. I've risked being banned from what I had hoped would be my regular hangout. But, I'm determined to regain the good will of Jean-Lu by baking him a traditional American apple pie. Bubar is, without a doubt, one of those places that you can't really imagine exists until you go inside. And if you didn't know it was there, you'd walk right by it. It's so close to Bastille that you'd expect it to be crawling with tourists. But no. It's a perfect little netherworld. The owner, as you'll see from the photo, is a fabulous full-bearded (and not in a hipster way) plaid flannel (and not in a grungy way) outback hat wearing (and not in an Aussie way) gent who always has a glass of wine in his hand (for himself). He has absolutely no French wine available in the establishment (and, yes, he's French). He provides little nibbles on the bar. He has about 20 wines he serves by the glass along with another 50 or so by the bottle. All are very reasonably priced. The ambiance is...what can I say...eclectic. Very low lighting. A mishmash of chairs and stools in varying states of repair. Tonka trucks. Wine boxes stacked everywhere. A rainbow afro clown wig. A place you have to see to believe. The clientele is mid-30s, low-key, hip without pretentiousness, smart without egocentrism. Other than my birthday party night (again, mea culpa!!!), I don't think there are hoards of people on an average night, even the weekends. Jean-Lu tends the bar by himself, and I don't think he could do that regularly if there were crowds on a regular basis. This is the place you go to share a glass/bottle of wine with semi-sophisticated friends. This is not a good place to host a birthday party. Let's all collectively cross our fingers that I will be allowed back in.

This is an amazing little hole in the wall. Great wine and great conversation. Jean Luc will pour you an exotic glass of wine and sip along with you. Check out his massive CD collection. Listen to jazz and ask him about the name of the bar. Find this place. It's worth finding!

Cozy, eclectic and friendly. Great music, great conversation and the friendliest owner in town.

I have mixed feelings about Bistro des Augustins. On the one hand, it provided me some of the most…read morecomforting and delicious food that I enjoyed in Paris. On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.

THE FOOD ------------------…read more= Fermier - Cheese gratin with chicken was good. Didn't blow me away, but was solid with the creaminess of the sliced potatoes and emmental cheese combined together with mixed vegetables. The cheese was very strong though, so anything else was unfortunately pretty much overpowered by it. Arrived with bread, but it DEFINITELY could use other carb options to sop it all up (e.g., rice???)! = Landais - Cheese gratin with duck. Same comment as the above, except the Landais had egg and goat cheese also mixed in with almost the same ingredients as the Fermier. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + The lone waitress, who also worked the role as greeter, cashier and bartender was friendly. + Food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ = Small, tight restaurant. = Not many tables inside - 6 in total. + Located a few blocks away from the more touristy restaurants, towards the East, on a much quieter street. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Nada.

We passed by a few other cafes but this one caught our eye because of how it's right by the corner with a view of the gardens. We checked in with the server and we chose to sit outside. I ordered the duck breast - very tender and flavorful, sauce was divine and the aligot was soooo creamy! I also posted what my friends ordered. We had wine too with our food. They have a charger by the bar so while we are people watching and eating I had time to charge my phone. While we were seated outside it began to rain so we asked for a table inside so we can have desserts. The restaurant was full but they let us wait by the bar. After maybe 10 mins we were seated upstairs and I got hot chocolate and we shared crème brûlée, chocolate mouse and tarte tatin. We all love it - they weren't too sweet. Best place to sit outside, people watch and enjoy their food and wine
