On our second night in Paris we found our selves at this lively wine bar. The place was packed and we were turned away until one of the hosts stopped us and said he had a place in the very back. It was just the right spot for us. Our two servers were both pleasant and welcoming and were happy to guide our wine choice for the evening. Had a couple of tastes of varietals I cannot remember (jet lag) and settled on the Medoc which we really enjoyed with the charcuterie. If I ever get to Paris again, I will seek this place out!

Useless staff standing around doing nothing.

This was the only place in Paris where I encountered staff that met the stereotype of rude and arrogant Frenchmen. An avid wine drinker and seasoned in natural and biodynamic wine, I went in looking to try the latest in French natural wine. The bar does not have a wine list so you will need to rely (at your peril) on the judgment of the staff. After asking for whatever was the most interesting wine they were currently pouring, I was dismissively told "all of our wines are interesting", which is simply never the case. There was never an offer of listing the various wines being poured and the waiter was incredibly impatient as I decided on the profile of wine I preferred to drink at that time. I gave up trying to get information and ended up getting an unremarkable glass chosen by the waiter. The waiters also appeared to have better things to do (i.e. standing around outside doing nothing) than to actual pay any attention to the patrons in the bar. Avoid this place like the plague. For a REAL wine bar with staff that actually knows and wants to talk about wine, go to Septime La Cave.

A delightful local wine bar that offers affordable but good french and sometimes non french (ie spanish) wine. Close from Notre Dame. Always busy, noisy and crowded. English is not a problem but servers are always busy serving someone. Food is good.

I'm giving this 5 stars, cause if it doesn't deserve 5 stars, it doesn't get a review. Walking home from dinner on our last night in Paris and come across this little spot for no other reason than it was open and wifey and I wanted one more glass. Glad we did! Asked to see a wine by the glass menu and was told there wasn't one- you tell them what you like and they recommend. We told the young guy who owns the place we wanted something light to end the evening with and we were drinking a type of champagne I never knew existed that was very crisp, red, and low in alcohol. Great place, cool vibe, passionate owners!

We were staying nearby and every time we passed by in the evenings it was filled and seemed to give off a good vibe. We went in for a happy hour drink. The atmosphere was easygoing and enabled great conversation. The owners were great in helping to select your wine. I didn't find what I like right away but he was very patient and helpful in finding me something I'd enjoy. The prices were very reasonable. Although we didn't take in the tapas, the selection look pretty amazing. I think we'll be back before our vacation is finished.

    Fabulous charcuterie at Chez Nous

We were staying down the street at the Hotel d'Aubusson and stumbled into this great place on the 3rd night of our 8 night stay in Paris. We LOVE this place. The young owners, Arthur and Robin, are doing an excellent job serving great food (charcuterie, fish and cheese plates) to pair with a very nice selection of wines by the bottle or the glass. Great atmosphere, mainly a younger crowd from our pov, as we are in our 60's. We stopped in every night for a bottle and a bite and enjoyed our interactions with the friendly crowd and the very welcoming Arthur and Robin. It is a small space and can get pretty crowded as the evening goes on, as it is rightfully popular. We went shortly after it opened each evening and had no problem getting a seat. If you are in Paris and like wine bars, you must stop in; you won't be disappointed.

    Gouda Cheese with Bread

Right across from the Seine River in Paris, this was an initially completely empty little wine bar that suddenly became full and packed with people with in the hour. Reservations recommended. There were a group of 4 in our party and if we had not arrived early, we would have been unable to get a table. That being said the wine selection was incredibly extensive and the bartenders very knowledgeable. They have a list of tapas on the chalkboard, all of which I wanted to try had it not been for our 8pm dinner reservations. We ordered Truffle Gouda Cheese served with French Bread to pair along with our wine. Pours were generous and in no time our group was having an amazing time, thank you Chez Nous!

On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.

THE FOOD ------------------…read more= Fermier - Cheese gratin with chicken was good. Didn't blow me away, but was solid with the creaminess of the sliced potatoes and emmental cheese combined together with mixed vegetables. The cheese was very strong though, so anything else was unfortunately pretty much overpowered by it. Arrived with bread, but it DEFINITELY could use other carb options to sop it all up (e.g., rice???)! = Landais - Cheese gratin with duck. Same comment as the above, except the Landais had egg and goat cheese also mixed in with almost the same ingredients as the Fermier. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + The lone waitress, who also worked the role as greeter, cashier and bartender was friendly. + Food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ = Small, tight restaurant. = Not many tables inside - 6 in total. + Located a few blocks away from the more touristy restaurants, towards the East, on a much quieter street. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Nada.

We passed by a few other cafes but this one caught our eye because of how it's right by the corner with a view of the gardens. We checked in with the server and we chose to sit outside. I ordered the duck breast - very tender and flavorful, sauce was divine and the aligot was soooo creamy! I also posted what my friends ordered. We had wine too with our food. They have a charger by the bar so while we are people watching and eating I had time to charge my phone. While we were seated outside it began to rain so we asked for a table inside so we can have desserts. The restaurant was full but they let us wait by the bar. After maybe 10 mins we were seated upstairs and I got hot chocolate and we shared crème brûlée, chocolate mouse and tarte tatin. We all love it - they weren't too sweet. Best place to sit outside, people watch and enjoy their food and wine
