Ted was respectful and initially appeared very knowledgeable about HVAC systems. However, my…read moreoverall experience with Trade Specialties and Solutions was extremely disappointing. My family spent nine days without consistent air conditioning in September 2026. During that time, I was repeatedly told that the system had leaks and that the outdoor unit needed to be replaced. Based on that assessment, I was prepared to spend nearly $8,000 on a new outdoor unit. Installation was scheduled for 10:00 AM. When Ted arrived, he informed me that the installers were on their way. Hours passed with no installers. After checking multiple times and waiting approximately three and a half hours, I expressed concern that the installation might not happen and mentioned that I had begun contacting other HVAC companies regarding their availability. At that point, Ted became jittery and my husband had to step in via phone. I was told that I had an attitude and that there were concerns about continuing the work because he didn't want my attitude to be directed towards his installers. At this point, Ted knew he would be exposed because the repair work, he was about to do was FRAUD! Wanting a second opinion, I contacted two additional HVAC companies. Both independently advised that the issue was with the indoor evaporator coil and that the outdoor unit did not need to be replaced. After replacing the coil, my system was repaired successfully. In addition, the company that completed the repair informed me that the outdoor unit was not connected to its power source which had to intentionally be unplugged. There was also nuts/bolts that was added to the outside system by the new company which had be removed when he came by to do more investigation to the outside unit. Because of these concerns, I ultimately installed a security camera near the equipment for peace of mind. Based on my experience, I WILL NOT recommend Trade Specialties and Solutions.

If I could select no stars, zero stars, I would. So disappointed with trade specialties. I saw…read morethere truck one morning on my way to work. My interest was peaked when I saw it was a black owned business. I sent a request via their website to schedule an appointment to have my HVAC system serviced for winter and to have a new smart thermostat installed. The price quoted seemed reasonable enough. Usually I obtain at least 3 quotes, but because this was a black owned business, I didn't not. I had a tight schedule the day of my appointment. TSS was scheduled from 10:00 to 12:00 pm window. I had an 8:00 am appointment in Columbia. I finished in Columbia by 8:30 am. Back to Bowie before 9:00 am and dropped my car off for service. Took a Uber and hime by 9:00 am. Waited and waited and waited for TSS. Received a text at 11:45 that a tech was heading my way and it could take 45 mins for his arrival. At noon got a call my car was ready for pick. Still no TSS. At 1:37 pm TSS shows up to my house. Takes another 10 minutes before be get out and comes to my door where he has his bag and shoe covers in hand, but know mask. I kindly asked if he has a mask he could put on and if not I have several. Let me just mention, I'm in the health field, I wish to protect both parties. This is cold, flu, RSV and COVID season. Someone who is going from house to house should be willing and ready to protect themselves and those he encounter. Well he declined my offer to provide him a mask. "I have my own in the van." With that, he turned around and went to retrieve his mask. Moments later he returned without a mask stating "we are going to have to reschedule because I can't find my mask and we have to wear the mask the company provides because one time a lady complained...". I cut him off, thanked him and closed the door. I wasted half my day for this. I could have returned to work after dropping my car off instead off wasting time waiting with nothing to show for it. No apologies and no work ethics. Again, very disappointed.

We chose this company after shopping around, in part because we are a veteran family and wanted to…read moresupport a veteran-owned business. We signed and paid on a Wednesday, with work scheduled to begin Friday morning. I took off work and waited at the property. No one showed up and no one called. I had to contact the office myself to find out no one was coming. Work did not begin until the following Monday. Unfortunately, that was the beginning of a pattern that continued throughout the entire project. We repeatedly had to call for basic information about the status of our property. Calls went unanswered, promised callbacks did not happen, and we received vague or conflicting explanations about staffing and project status. At one point, a company employee called and had to ask us what condition our property was in and whether the house had running water. We should not have been responsible for updating the contractor's own staff on the status of their project. After the plumbing work was performed, we were told the remaining step was inspection and that the office would coordinate it. We waited, repeatedly followed up, and eventually contacted the permitting office ourselves. At that time, we were told there was no permit or application on file for our property. Meanwhile, an approximately eight-foot trench remained open in our front yard with plumbing exposed for weeks. After nearly a month of problems, we requested a refund and asked that no one from the company enter our property without authorization. The owner confirmed in writing that no one would do so. Despite that, workers arrived at the property without coordinating an arrival time with us. We received an automated notification that a technician was en route, but no inspection time had been provided. We had to call the inspection office ourselves and learned that the inspection window was 11 a.m.-1 p.m., although the company arrived hours earlier. When my husband questioned the technician about why they were there, the status of the project, and the conflicting information we had received, the company subsequently texted us accusing my husband of "harassing" the technician and stated that they had called the county and canceled the permit. This experience goes far beyond poor communication. It has involved a missed appointment, repeated failures to follow through, poor internal coordination, conflicting information, weeks of chasing answers about our own property, an extended open excavation, and ultimately being told the permit was canceled after we asked questions about what was happening. We have documented our communications, calls, property condition, and timeline. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE.
