I contacted this plumbing company to identify the cause of a leak and was told upfront that there…read morewould be a $59 service fee, and that I'd be given the total cost before any work was done. The technician arrived and determined the issue was a faulty bathtub drain spout. I offered to go to Lowe's to get the replacement myself, but he mentioned he had one on the truck and said it "wouldn't be much." To my surprise, the final bill showed the part marked up more than 400% over retail. I completely understand that plumbers charge for convenience, expertise, and overhead--but the extreme markup felt misleading, especially given his comment that the part wouldn't cost much. When I called the office to ask about their pricing, I was transferred to someone who oddly compared plumber fees to what a doctor would charge and seemed irritated, as though I was devaluing their work. It was an uncomfortable conversation. Thankfully, another representative eventually got on the line and offered a $60 discount, which was processed quickly. In the end, the issue was resolved, but the pricing transparency and customer service experience left a lot to be desired. I recommend asking for a full estimate--including part pricing--before agreeing to any work.
