The technician arrived and determined the issue was a faulty bathtub drain spout. I offered to go to Lowe's to get the replacement myself, but he mentioned he had one on the truck and said it "wouldn't be much." To my surprise, the final bill showed the part marked up more than 400% over retail. I completely understand that plumbers charge for convenience, expertise, and overhead--but the extreme markup felt misleading, especially given his comment that the part wouldn't cost much. When I called the office to ask about their pricing, I was transferred to someone who oddly compared plumber fees to what a doctor would charge and seemed irritated, as though I was devaluing their work. It was an uncomfortable conversation. Thankfully, another representative eventually got on the line and offered a $60 discount, which was processed quickly. In the end, the issue was resolved, but the pricing transparency and customer service experience left a lot to be desired. I recommend asking for a full estimate--including part pricing--before agreeing to any work.

I made it for 8 am so my wife would be able to get ready for work, and be on her way before he got to my house. 8:30 am rolls around; no plumber. I call wondering if he is still coming, and Dan gives me the old "I was getting ready to call you" reply. I know BS when I hear it, but, ok, just get here. Dan didn't show until 9:40, no apology given. (This was the reason I gave him a thumbs down on reliability.) In terms of service, Dan was friendly, and performed the task of unclogging my sinks in a timely manner. Something to remember: he only takes cash or check. No credit cards, which is especially strange in this day and age. Value for the job was as expected. While his tardiness was somewhat annoying and unprofessional, I was very satisfied with his work. I do recommend Dan as a plumber to perform work in your home or business. Just hope he shows at the agreed upon time.
