A month ago I had gone up there with my mom (who at the time just had a knee operation and could hardly walk) to get the key to the lock they had put on our storage so we could replace it with our own. My mom stayed in the truck while I went into the office to ask for the key and Miss Kim gave me the rudest attitude when I stated that I had come inside for my mother who can barely walk to get the key but she didn't want to hear it she yelled at me that my mom had to come inside. And then just this past Sunday my mother, sister, fiancé, and I all go to empty out her unit (to move her to a MUCH MUCH BETTER ONE), but we had to call and get another lock taken off our unit and Miss Kim was there AGAIN. My mom had called 30min prior to being there and told her that she was going to be there a few mins before 5pm and Kim told her that she was NOT going to stay 1 minute past 5pm because she had things to do after work. When my fiancé and I arrived at 5:07pm she was still there! And my mom had left to go get water for us around 6:30-7pm she was still there!!My mother has been a customer for 11 years and has put up with an outrageous rent increase and rude employees. Several things need to change since Public Storage has taken over. I was shocked at the vacancy…read morerate at the Hardin, Mckinney property I'm using. I walked each of the three levels in the back building and estimated that 75% of each floor isn't rented. That's an epic loss of income. The rates being charges are far above (for those of us long-term renters) than the market rates - even what Public Storage, Hardin, McKinney is advertising to new customers. I have two units that I've had for three years. I would have sorted them out before now but medical/ health issues have made it impossible. On the climate controlled 1st story unit, we're being charged $110/month more than the advertised rate on their website. On the climate controlled 3rd story unit, we're being charged $106/ month more than the advertised rate on their website. That's $216 per month! We have checked near us and can rent same space for the about that $216. No wonder everyone is leaving this location and possibly not renting at any Public Storage properties if this exists throughout their chain of properties. A managerial issue is the threatening notices for being late on paying. There's inconsistencies in the notices given and the threatening notices and lockout are in violation of the law. Locking out a tenant within the first five days of being late is not legal. My units have had different notices parted on them. I've been threatened with auctions before 30 days have elapsed. Pretty sure that's not legal. I've rented these two units for 39 months. This is month 40 and I'm leaving of I can find where yo give notice. All else fails, I will email move out notices. I've looked where they say to go but it's not there - maybe because I'm late again. I'll be paying it when a check comes in. I do what I can. It sure would be nice if they would cut the rent rates to advertised rates. I feel cheated especially since I'm older with no income because of disability and waiting for SSI to start and then SS and retirement.

Unfortunately, an incident that occurred during their recent ground remodeling project has completely changed my view of this company. My RV was moved from its original spot to another location as part of their construction work. They have asked for my persmision to preform the task. During that move, my RV was damaged, resulting in thousands of dollars in repair costs. What has been most disappointing is not just the damage itself, but the way the situation was handled afterward. They didn't take any responsibililty becuase they asked me to sign a weaver. I made the mistake to think they are professional at what they do. BIG MISTAKE. I made multiple attempts to reach someone to discuss the issue and find a reasonable resolution. After several calls and emails, the only response I received was that I should file a claim with my own insurance, and the company refused to take any responsibility for the damage that occurred while my RV was under their care. After this experience, I decided to cancel my lease agreement. I had just paid for the upcoming month, and when I called to request a refund for the unused portion, the representative refused and simply stated that the termination date would be March 31 instead of April 9. After nearly three years as a paying customer, this response felt dismissive and extremely disappointing. Businesses make mistakes -- that happens. But how a company chooses to stand behind its customers when those mistakes occur is what defines their integrity. At this point, I am simply asking for fairness and accountability. I hope REC Nations leadership reviews this situation and considers reaching out to resolve the matter appropriately. Until then, I cannot recommend this facility based on my experience.
