Pretty friendly service. My first Guinness in Dublin went down very well. For a starter, I had the veggie soup served with soda bread. Soup was ok. The soda bread with butter was amazing. Very simple, bread was really tasty. For my main, I had the smoked salmon plate. It was good, just too much smoked salmon. I did not think salmon croquette were very good. Maybe a little strange. Upstairs feels effortlessly chic. Downstairs feels super casual and fun. Most importantly, nothing about Bruxelles felt touristy on a night when my husband and I just wanted to chillax in a Dublin vibe. This fit the bill. read more

This is a brilliant rocker bar. Anyone who is into any type of rock music would love this place. It's not exactly the most attractive pub, but it's a place so filled with character and such an established atmosphere. The staff are wonderful and helpful, and the people who frequent there always seem really happy to be there. I definitely don't go here as often as I would like to. Overall, the prices aren't too shabby, the music is brilliant, the drinks are great, what more can you ask for? (Also it was considered one of the top 100 pubs in Dublin according to a book I saw in Eason's! I agree.) read more

The Bruxelles had been my first port of call after I moved to Ireland, especially due to the metalheads that frequent this no-frills establishment off Grafton St. A nice basement club that's divided into a Heavy Metal- and an Alternative/Rock-area welcomes the (sometimes underage-)rockers on the weekend, and there's a classic pub with late licence on the ground floor. This was one of the places I normally stopped by when I went out with my colleagues. We started somewhere else, we ended up in Club 38 or Cafe En Seine and in between we were in the Bruxelles at one time. It is nothing very special, but it is not bad. So... way better than most of what you can find in Temple Bar, but probably not as good as Castle Lounge or Grogans. read more

My husband and I walked in to get some dinner as we only had 2 nights left of our honeymoon trip and we were not impressed with the service. We first walked in and no one came up to us to ask if we wanted a seat for dinner. I went up to the bar and noticed only 1 male and 1 female working. I waited at least 5 minutes until someone asked me what I needed. I stated that I wanted a table for 2 for dinner and the gentleman told me to sit down and the waitress would come to us. We waited and no waitress came. Another couple was also frustrated because of how long they were waiting for service. The most upsetting part was as we were getting up to leave the female waitress saw us leaving and did not say one word. We decided to eat somewhere else. read more

Not a bad place. Your general Irish pub. They got our order wrong once but it was no trouble to fix it. We got fish and chips and my sister had ordered salmon cakes but it was gross so she changed to fish and chips. It was a little bland but the flaking and the freshness of the fish were awesome. This cafe bar and lounge is awesome and definitely well worth a visit. Downstairs has a dancy feel and upstairs is a little more relaxed. Cocktails are a definite "must have" here and if you are lucky the bartender will do a little bit of a show - kinda like Tom Cruise in the film "Cocktail". Great night out! read more

On our most recent trip to Ireland we found this place. I was on a mission to find the best Beef and Guinness Stew in Ireland. We traveled from Dublin to Kilcar and on to Galway. After Galway we motored down to Dingle, from Dingle we drove to Killarney for a few days and then back to Dublin. I had Beef and Guinness Stew at several pubs in the towns we stayed in. I know its not a scientific study, but Bruxelles, defiantly had the best tasting Beef and Guinness Stew that I could find in Ireland. I will continue my search on our next trip. Cheers! Bruxelles is three bars, but I'm only going to review one of them. There's a normal modern looking bar on the ground floor, and two bars in the basement. One plays some kind of independent music, I guess, but it's the third and final bar that I'm going to review. And they play Heavy Fucking Metal. Basically if you're a metal head and looking for a place to go in Dublin, look no further. You found it. I was there only shortly yesterday, but in that short time they somehow managed to play Rammstein, Pantera, Disturbed, and Pagan's Mind. This should give you a good idea how varied their musical selection is. Prices are a bit on the high side with 5,20 for a pint, but I hear that's still pretty reasonable for the area. Anyway, the place nearly always seems to be packed, the speakers are great and loud, people are friendly, and the selection of booze is great too. When it's less busy they even have a jukebox with a great selection of tracks. Who ever heard of a jukebox with Meshuggah and Opeth on it? read more

Upstairs is nothing special, but down in the basement of this pub off Grafton there are 2 separate but equally cool bars. Indie rockers and hipsters step to the right please, metalheads and doomsters to the left. Awesome. read more

We are from the U.S. and stumbled upon this place last week for lunch. Fantastic! One of the highlights of our trip. I am writing not so much a review, as to ask what those great little pickes were on my plate (I had the Ploughman's Platter), and can I buy them here? I am not a huge pickle fan but these were less salty/vinegary than our dills and yet not as sweet as our sweet pickles. It wasn't the Branston pickles--that is what we call pickle relish (only ours is green). And the Branstons--that I know I can buy here at one of the British Tea shops. Sue read more

A stalwart amongst Dublin'a alternative music fans because it is still one of the very few places in the city that can actually boast a reliable and specific music policy. The very dingy basement is split into two bars, a metal side and a vaguely rocky side. It's permanently packed, sweaty and smells of bleach, but the skankiness is part of the charm. If you like your jukeboxes to be well stocked with metal, then this is definitely the place to be. Okay so it takes hours to get served at the bar but it's still a fun. Just don't expect to be able to hear a conversation over the music. Even if the music doesn't float your boat, you cannot beat a pint sitting outside on a summer's day. The outdoor drinking area is marvellously positioned just off Grafton street in the shadow of the Phil Lynnott statue. Make sure you get there early though, as seats are usually all filled by four o clock. It does food as well if you want to make a day of it! read more

Let's face it, it's now a rite of passage to have your photo taken looking worse for wear at the iconic statue of Philo outside this landmark Dublin pub. Bruxelles is one of Dublin's premier nightspots. With a healthy mix of music styles from classic rock to modern anthems through to the best of metal, Brux is a hotspot for anyone looking a music-fuelled night in the city. Always crowded at the weekends, this pub is definitely one to pay a visit to late in the night when the place is starting to buzz. The ground floor main bar has a DJ at the weekend, with a setlist of well-known numbers to create a chilled out yet lively atmosphere. Downstairs to the left lies Bruxelles metal bar, a must-visit drinking den for anyone with an inclination towards all genres of hard rock and metal. With a classier atmosphere and more accessible vibe than Fibbers, Dublin's other metal club of note, the metal bar has a decent jukebox to bring you Led Zeppelin alongside Opeth and 80's hair metal followed by the excellence of Pantera or Alice In Chains. If you're looking to enjoy your drink and music while actually being able to hear what your pals have to say, head into the Indie bar next door instead. Depending on what kind of night you are looking for, this bar gives you drunken dancing to an indie soundtrack ranging from the Stone Roses to Guns N Roses to the Kooks et al. With its seating area at the front entrance, Bruxelles is an inviting spot to chill with friends on sunny days or to escape the mania of Grafton Street. This pub is often criticised for its rip off prices - in comparison to other city centre pubs, Bruxelles level pegs with them, so if you have drank in some of Dublin 2's hotspots, the tab here won't surprise you. Unfortunately, Bruxelles is often full of posers and mannequins who look disdainfully at anyone making an ass of themselves. If you don't believe me, attempt the robot dance downstairs to Talking Heads on a Saturday night and you'll soon spot 'em. This is one of the few criticisms I have of what has quickly ascended the ranks to being one of my own favourite drinking spots. read more

I love this pub. Since it's right off Grafton Street and it's fairly nice inside but not flashy, it's a great place to bring your tourist high-class American parents (who are used to a different standard of living) after some shopping, but it's still full of friendly Irish locals and the prices are fine. Great little pub, just off of Grafton Street where you can dine in, or on a nice day like today, you can sit outside and watch the people go by while you enjoy a pint or grab a bite to eat. Today, we did both! We live in Dublin for a work assignment and since we are from the States, we like a good club sandwich. Can I say that Bruxelles, hands down, makes the best club sandwich in Dublin, and believe me, we've tried many! Today, my husband had the salmon platter with three kinds of salmon...BBQ, salmon cake and smoked with a lovely salad served alongside brown bread. I, of course, had the club and it was a generous size, filled with egg, "crispy" bacon (hard to find in Ireland), turkey, tomato and lettuce served with cole slaw and a sprinkling of fries. My husband enjoyed a couple pints of Guinness, not a bad pour, and I had a Recorderlig cider. This place never let's us down from their delicious soup, salads, mussels, and toasties, we are always satisfied and today being able to eat outside in the sunshine was just another benefit of going to Bruxelles! read more

I'm not much of a crier and I don't know what a traditional Irish meal should taste like, but HOLY SHIT! The beer and Guinness stew is to DIE for and if you have any room for dessert, the sticky toffee pudding should be your next bite. Best meal I've had while on vacation here in Ireland. I yelped bars in Dublin. This bar is fairly well reviewed, but my experience wasn't good. In comparison to the customers who slightly bumped into and politely apologized to me, the bartender who poured my kilkenny was almost rude. Avoid this bar if you're a tourist and it's busy. I used to go here when I was in college and hang out in the downstairs section where all the heavy metal folk and rockers are! These days I tend to stay upstairs though! I love it in here. It's both cosy and lively and the staff are really friendly. It's open late at the weekends too so it's an ideal place to go when the other pubs are closing up. They serve food and while I've never eaten here I know people who have and would recommend it. read more

I have a story to tell that is long overdue.. On 4 July of this year (my own nation's independence day), I was crossing the very wet Grafton and College Green intersection, when I slipped in my stupid tread-less Vans, and came down hard on my right knee. I knew that something bad had just occurred but was still in shock. After hobbling over two blocks in increasing pain, I zeroed in on getting to a bar stool. "I'll just drink this off, obviously", I thought. Bruxelles was the first sign that caught my eye and somehow I made it all the way in and to the bar. I drank a beer and had an appetizer that I can't recall even tasting. I'm not the type to allow others see me in pain, but my resolve was melting as fast as my knee was swelling. For once, beer was NOT making it all better. I asked the hipster bartender for some ice in a bar towel and even though he gave me an odd look, he still produced a fat little ice packet that I was thankful for. I was still trying to act like it wasn't a big deal, but I guess my face was starting to betray me. Soon a sweet blonde bartender was handing me ibuprofen and others around were beginning to look on curiously. In excruciating pain, with a knee the size of a grapefruit, I called an Uber to get me back to my hostel. As soon as I tried to slip off the bar stool, I froze. I literally could not get off, it was so bad. Internal panic set in. And then a moment that I will be forever be grateful for.. a nicely dressed customer of yours approached and asked me in the most soothing Irish lilt, what he could do to help 'make my day better'. Within 5 minutes he had convinced a cab to back up as close to the back exit as possible and then he and a large burly man basically carried me and my bag to it. He also paid the driver! I stopped being an idiot and had the driver take me to the St. James ER, where the driver found a wheelchair and took me in on his own accord. Sixteen hours later, I was back at my hostel in a huge brace with crutches, holding a stack of xrays showing a nice long crack on my knee cap. Sadly, my trip was over and three days later I took two long flights back to the states. I would stay on crutches for the next two months. The point of this rather long story, is how I will never forget the kindness I was shown that day at your bar from staff and clientele alike. Alone in a foreign country is a pretty bad time to break a bone, and without the aid of strangers, that experience would've been far more horrible than it turned out to be. A massive THANK YOU to the Bruxelles bartenders who were working that day and their caring patrons (and to the helpful cab drivers, emergency room nurses, hostel workers, DUB airport staff, etc..seriously, the list goes on). This wasn't my first trip to the motherland, and it wont be my last so I'll absolutely be back to drink and eat again, with two healthy legs.. P.S. When I tell my fellow Americans that I broke my knee on the Fourth of July, they assume I was drunk. Then I explain that I was actually in Dublin, and then they still think I was drunk :) read more

Cool place - sat downstairs and enjoyed a football match and some lunch. Great service and nice menu. Good pub for sports - I'll be back.

what a fantastic crack we had here. arrived late in dublin and popped in here for a nightcap around 2 o'clock, stayed until 4. loved the music and the chat, and had to go back for a second night and were last to leave again. we particularly loved the friendliness of the staff and other drinkers in the bar - loved it!! read more

Called in here for a rest from shopping on Grafton street, beautiful day so sat outside, very prompt Service from V friendly girls and while I wasn't hungry felt I had to try the food as it looked so good. Had the Best Wings I've ever had and wanted to take away more of the blue cheese dip - Fantastic. Even the tall manager was very charming, we will definitely be back.... read more
