Here's how my visit today went: Me: Hi, I'd like to get a medium birthday cake in a cup and a pint of peach sorbet. Server said a usual response, can't remember verbatim. I get to the window and this is how it went: Server: Did you say strawberry sorbet? Me: No, peach. Server: Oh, the peach is actually peach melba, do you want that? Me: No. Server: No? (Awkward silence.) What would you like instead? Me: Nothing She took the sorbet off the order and I paid, to be honest, I didn't even check to see what I paid and I was not given a receipt. I honestly was annoyed and wanted to get out of there. The server then handed me a cake cone with the birthday cake ice cream. I reminded her it was supposed to be in a cup. She went and swapped it out. I gave it to my daughter, who said, "Yeah, that's a medium." I was livid. Why was it so hard to order ice cream? I didn't have a receipt, so I couldn't check to see what was rung up. I parked and went to the counter to find out what was going on. It turned out I paid for a kid cup. I wasn't about to give that shop any more money and I was seriously frustrated that I gave a tip. I did ask if a hearing screening was required to work there because "medium" and "kids" sound very different, so do "cup" and "cone," not to mention "peach" and "strawberry." Just went to brusters in Indian Trail and the experience was horrible. I am hard of hearing and have hearing aids and explained that to the young girl, I asked her to repeat herself. She expressed frustration with me and started sighing and becoming exasperated. I told her that I was coming to the window so I could hear her She pushed another another girl to come to the window so she would not have to deal with a deaf person. I asked if the manager was there and asked the new the girl to tell the manager that I expect good customer service and not someone showing frustration with those who can't hear well. The Ice cream that was sent out was sloppy leaking everywhere and was liquid. This brusters has always been a good brusters until today in the past I have always tipped the max amount but not today. We have been going to Brewsters in Matthews for quite a few years now.. I like their ice cream options especially near holidays.. however they are skimping on their ice cream scoops.. the last few times we went their 2 scoops look like one scoop.. we even questioned the young lady.. our friend got a scoop in a waffle bowl which was more then we got in our 2 scoop cups.. I don't mind paying more.. but when we ask and pay for 2 SCOOPS.. then that is what we should be getting.. as much as they charge we won't be going back.. Fantastic homemade ice cream! I loved the creamy homemade flavors. The peanut butter was delicious and really rich. The chocolate oreo was very rich and yummy. This is a great place to satisfy your sweet tooth. I came on a hot summer day and it wasn't too crowded. The ice cream sundae was good, however it could of been great if the brownie wasn't as cold as the ice cream. How do you sale a hot dude he sundae with a cold brownie?! It came with two large scoops of ice cream and chocolate syrup over the brownie. They have outdoor seating only and it's shaded. They have a drive through which is cool. Exiting the drive through is complicated because you face one way and have to be careful with traffic. The prices are similar to Jennis (ice cram is made fresh) and not basking robins which would be more similar to this place. The customer service was basic. When I go to Bruster's, I usually get chocolate chip ice cream. When I went this time (today), i couldn't find chocolate chip ice cream in the menu. I was looking for it for probably 30-45 seconds, and then I ask her if she has it, and she says they were out of it tonight, so I had to choose something else to order, didn't take that long, and immediately she gave me attitude "your totals $5.38" whatever it was, and then she took my money and slammed the window. Finally went and tried Bruster's with my three children who have been always wanting to go have ice cream there and it will be the very last time I will never go there again. Those young girls that work that have no customer service experience they all have such a nasty attitude. The girl that took our order rolled her eyes at us probably 4 different times. She kept putting her finger up at us to give her a second on I don't know what. When my husband ordered the girl wasn't even paying attention to him and then goes "what?" When we were waiting for our order I asked the girl oh we had a milkshake and this girl said "yeah I know, you need to wait." And rolled her eyes at me too. Those young girls need an attitude check and better customer service. I will never go back here again!! And it's sad because this place is so close by. This used to be my favorite ice cream store until my last visit. Ordered my usual, a banana split, along with several milkshakes and a kiddie cone. Processed to request three different scoops of ice cream for the banana split, but was told if all three are not same, there would be a $0.49 per scoop additional charge. This just brought a $5.49 banana split to $6.47... I told them to just make them all the same flavor. Then I proceeded to select my toppings for the banana split, but was again told, anything besides bananas would be a additional $0.49 per topping. Unacceptable!! Their picture of the banana split shows sveral different toppings, whipped cream, hot fudge, etc... and the additional charge is not mentioned until you start ordering. for some reason the employees couldn't understand how to put sprinkles on my waffle cone.... so they gave me a cup on the side with sprinkles which is fine i guess. then she hands me my waffle cone and the top scoop wasn't even on the cone at all and before it was even in my hand the top scoop had fallen off on to my lap and all over my car. and then she closes the window and starts laughing with another employee. i work at an ice cream shop and i know myself that it isn't hard to put sprinkles on a cone. and if i ever spilled something on someone i would never start laughing.. it's not funny. i won't be returning and i recommend none of u going there either they're all morons. read more

Went a few weeks back for the first time. Prices for the area are high. I had the pistachio cone. The ice cream was good. You can definitely tell it was home made. The service was friendly but there aren't many places to sit if you'd want to. I'd rather go to DQ or Sweet Frog for that reason. read more

We visited the drive thru around 7:00pm last night to grab 2 chocolate milkshakes as my 2-year-old loves them. He has never had the one from Brusters so we got him his own as a special treat. When the associate opened the window, the smell of Pine Sol knocked me backwards but I didn't think much of it as many places smell abundantly clean right now. Got the shakes and handed one to my toddler in the back seat and sat mine down in the car. He drank some of his and I also had some of mine....then I noticed an awful smell in the car....like the Pine Sol smell had seeped into my car from the ice cream shop. I pulled over and tried to find the source and it was the cups...both cups smelled like they had been dipped in Pine Sol...it also smelled inside of the cup. I was terrified and jerked it away from my son. We immediately called Poison Control and they instructed us to watch him for a few hours. They also were in shock as were we that this happened. I called the location as soon as we arrived home and the associate told me there was not a manager there and she MIGHT be there tomorrow. I told her that this was serious and that someone will need to call me asap and I needed to know what was going on with the smell and cups. She told me that they were told to "wipe the cups down with the disinfectant" I told her that was not acceptable. These are paper cups....they absorb liquids and you could make someone very sick. She sounded very confused by this..... She told me it wasn't Pine Sol so it was fine....oh ok. Really!!!! It took the Owner-John Dolan-4 days to call me and he basically told me that there was "no way" this happened. He then told me that they had video tapes of that night at which time I asked him what was on them as we are still shaken to the core from this....he said "he was working all day so he didn't have time to watch them yet". Went to brusters Indian trail around 6:45 today after a death in the family for chocolate ice cream comfort. We had a coupon but the girl at the window told us she couldn't accept it because it wasn't good until May 30. I asked her to please ask because we had just had a death in the family and needed ice cream. The manager came to the window slammed it open told us NO! And when we told her about the death she started laughing! How horrible to laugh at someone's pain! I felt bullied and disrespected! I left the window but when I realized they had my punch reward card we went back to get it. Every single one of them was laughing! As we were leaving we realized that they had taken our banana for our banana split! Worst experience ever! I will NOT be returning to that brusters for a LONG time if ever. read more
