This is my favorite Andy's in the greater Charlotte area, as I've had issues at the Matthew's and Cornelius locations. While none of the locations are near us, we will make the trek here for a special treat. Service has always been great, and they have been appropriately staffed. Their custard is definitely a great base as it is flavorful. My favorite to get is a seasonal offering - gooey butter cake concrete. It has caramel and chunks of gooey butter cake, a wonderful combination! We came here last month as it is back on the menu! Had to come by the moment it was announced! I have two complaints: 1. the price is high for what you get - the mixins are not what you should be getting - ends up being a ton of custard to little mix-ins. The ratio is definitely off. It is even worse if you get a pint to go. 2. They don't show you what they are ringing up and do not provide a receipt. It feels like a deceptive practice, especially when it is not a consistent total each time when you go, even if you order the same exact thing. I do enjoy Andy's, but I feel like there is room for improvement to get to the 4-5 star level. read more

On a Sunday afternoon drive, Mrs. K. declared that she wanted frozen custard. So we're here in Waxhaw to get a frozen custard. Andy's is awesome and after having frozen custard a few states ago on our Spring Break trip, it was easy to come back to Andy's for another round. This time, my car fits in the drive through! Chocolate with Heath Bar crunch for Mrs. K. Vanilla with chopped nuts for me. Salty and sweet. Crunchy and smooth. I thought I'd check out the Waxhaw location since it was closer than Matthews. It's located not too far from Audrey Kell (Best Buy/HomeGoods shopping center) but kind of in the middle of nowhere but Kohls is across the way... upon arrival there were about 6 cars in the drive through and about 5 families at the walk up. After making my order, 2 cars were making orders. They work fast! Key lime pints were out for the night so they sort of upgraded me to a medium sized cup with bag for freezing. Associate said I was getting more for cup size. I finally tried the Jackhammer James brownie and it's sooo good. Peanut butter and brownies is a win anyway. I always get the Nutty Crunch. Key lime always hits. I wish I tried the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake when it returned earlier this month. I earned enough points to get $5 off my next order and it lasts a month! Location keeps one entrance closed for safety and less confusion. The walk up had a lot of napkins on the ground. If only customers would pick up after themselves. Associates were nice, friendly, and accommodating. I hope they make their money located there. read more

This was so good! I got the vanilla custard with marshmallow and waffle cone pieces and I loved it. I will 100% be coming back!

Andy's is tasty, but the drive-thru is very inefficient. They only take orders at the window--no advance order station--so the line moves very slowly. I've been several times, and only once did someone take orders outside with an iPad. Tonight I counted seven or eight employees, most of whom were just standing around because only one person is needed to take orders and one to make ice cream the way they have it set up. Surely there's a better way.... If there are more than four cars in line, save your time and skip it or walk up to the window instead. read more

I have been here a handful of times. The employees are never friendly just meh. The "custard" isn't gross but it has absolutely NO comparison whatsoever to Jenni's splendid ice cream in the Blakeney Shopping Center not even 3 miles down the road. In my opinion the ice cream options and staff are "night and day " Different. Especially love at Jenni's you can have /taste test 6, 7, 8 different flavors if you choose ALWAYS given with a clean tiny metal Spoon not one ice cream shop other than Jenni's does this . I stopped at Andy's last night for a weekend treat! It was one of my favorite spots through college so I was excited to try out this location. They have drive thru and walk up options to order, however on weekend nights the drive thru is crazy packed! I waited about 25 mins as service was slow and they only had one window to order, pay, and grab your ice cream. The milkshake however was worth the wait... delicious flavors and creamy custard.. YUM! I personally love this style of ice cream because it's on the thicker side so it takes a while to melt. Phenomenal custard! This place is awesome and definitely lives up to the reputation. Incredible homemade flavors--I ordered the James Brownie jackhammer and it was delicious. The chocolate flavors were intense, the peanut butter was less. I enjoyed the combination. The small was huge!! Got my husband the Boot Daddy concrete small--vanilla with oreos. The staff at the drive through were so kind and helpful. I had never been so needed some advice for my order. I enjoyed the frozen custard and the kid's size was plenty for my kiddo. Came here with some friends after dinner. They were steady, not crazy busy. Their drive thru was busy though. We walked up and ordered a few things. Place is chaotic because you order from one person. Wait on the side and wait for your order to be called from the same person that took your order. The line gets backed up and it's hard to tell where the line actually starts. I got the small cone with vanilla and chocolate. Both tasted really good and it was the right amount of size. I had the small cookie dough but my overall experience was tainted by the horrible customer service. Discovered this while shopping in South Charlotte and needed a dessert pick me up. We stopped by and I got their Snowmonster Concrete. They are super quick and the regular size is super big. Very good bang for your buck. Its really delicious and well crafted but I think I would just like it to be thicker but that's really a personal preference. Make sure you get pecans added because it really does add another layer of taste. I'll definitely be back to try more things! PS. They also have a drive thru which is super legit! read more

Was visiting a bestie in NC beginning of July 2022 and it was in the 90's. So he brought me Andy's Frozen Custard (his go to apparently) and it totally hit the spot. The menu has a lot of delicious and quirky named items like BootDaddy and Texas 2-Step. I created my own with some peanut butter cups and cookie dough. It tasted divine, especially on a hot day and very reasonably priced that won't break the bank. They have a large variety of staple toppings but also some drizzles I haven't seen much of like Key Lime Syrup etc. Overall, if I ever visit again, will definitely drop by Andy's for a dairy delight! read more

This is such a cute, old-timey custard stand! You can either order through drive-thru or walk up to the window. Service is quick and they have a variety of options: shakes, sundaes, splits, mix-ins, etc. I actually prefer a simple vanilla custard for the true flavor. Well, well. A pure custard place. Nothing but custard. So it has to be good...and it is. Chocolate and vanilla for flavors. Tons of toppings to choose from. Cones, sundaes, cups all varying in size. Clean as a whistle and nice servers working inside. No tables, but a few metal mesh benches outside. Also a drive through, but I have never figured out how to drive a stick shift car, in summer heat, while eating a cone, let alone a sundae. Freddie's has custard...but it ain't nutin' compared to Andy's. This is super good, as it should. Go there...do it for lunch or after work or school. You will also sing Andy's praises. read more

I was greeted by a worker and as she told me the total i began to get my money ready. I was paying with exact cash and coins to be exact $7.88. If you want great ice cream and kind staff, this is the place to go. It can get crowded at times, but service is decently fast. The last time I went I ordered a Johns Brownie and it was terrible. The "brownie" pieces tasted like mold or milk that had been left out too long. It was awful. Luckily, it's been a one time experience and can't drive me away from the heavenly ice cream! It's impossible to miss this colorful, nostalgic little custard shop curiously located beside a mattress store on Rea Rd in the Blakeney area. We had highly anticipated its opening as there is really nothing comparable in the area. To avoid the line of about 20 people we opted for the drive thru and were served in less than 10 minutes. We ordered a basic choc/van large cup and small toffee concrete (or blend). It was tasty and a welcome departure from the nearby price gouging TCBY, both product-wise and price-wise; although calorie-wise, I can't say. The limited service we experienced was young and unsure. 4.5 stars Wow, this place is popular! It could be that it recently opened but it does live up to the hype! Shake Shack also serves frozen custard so technically Andy's isn't the only game in town. However, Andy's has a full menu of creations and you can get chocolate or vanilla custard. Most of the items are pretty large. If I want something smaller I get the kid's sundae. For something different I like the old fashioned root beer freeze. They do gift cards but the minimum buy is $5. This place has become our family's new favorite dessert spot. This bigger guy at the window slammed my stuff down when I came up to the window to claim my order and I felt disrespected disgusted and disheartened. The awful Service here has steered me in the direction of the matthews location. They are way more respectful and polite there. And right at 11 when there had to be 15 people out front eating ice cream they turned all of the lights off as if no one was there just to be petty. Everyone else there was shocked at the way we were being treated. We called out a manager when this incident happened and all she said was "sorry I'll talk to him" nothing more.
