Came here before heading to Jergel's for a concert on Sunday. It's a dive bar, so keep your expectations as such. I am a craft beer nerd and was curious what Great Lakes beer they had on tap. The bartender told me their "IPA"... well, Great Lakes makes a lot of IPA's... so that wasn't helpful. I ordered it anyway. Because it's a dive bar. And I wanted beer. I also wasn't surprised she didn't know the name of the beer. Because it's a dive bar. It's hard to tell if this place is even open since it did close down a few years ago. I was concerned the bartender was going to drop her cigarette ash in my beer she was pouring! It's a dive bar that you can still smoke in, that has a bartender older than your grandmother that's seen it all; a bar which totally decorates for Halloween and serves a decent selection of beer at cheap prices. I don't understand how anyone has a problem with this. It's definitely a townie hangout but it's clean - solid. In no way does this deserve a 1.5 star average rating. :) Happy Halloween read more

I've decided I don't go to Brush Creek Inn often enough. I've been a few times before and enjoyed it so I jumped on a Double Take Deal worth $15. I figure if I take a friend it covers a couple sandwiches, right? I used to love the Elk Burger (very lean) which is sadly no longer on the menu. It has been replaced with the Bison Burger which I admit, I also enjoy. I just wish they would offer both. I've had their French Onion Soup which is good and a few of their sandwiches. The pretzel sandwiches in particular are highly recommended. On my last visit I got the Sliced Prime Rib Pretzel Sandwich and it was mouthwateringly delicious. The dining room is cozy with a working fireplace. I've been on the bar side and on the dining side and the only bad experience I've had with service was the one time I was sitting at the bar by myself on a weekday afternoon when the only people there were regulars just in for some drinks. I didn't get much acknowledgement from the bartender however the cook asked me how everything was when he came out. So that kind of made up for it. It should be noted that I've been in the bar with friends when it's been crazy busy and the service has been much better and attentive. Prices are very reasonable and portions are good. Overall more pros. That one con has not deterred me as I've returned since. And I will continue to return as long as everything else there stays the same. read more

Stopped in for a drink and a bite. After sitting at the table for at least 15 minutes a server/ bartender came over for drink order. We asked for menu which we got quickly but no return of server for fresh drinks or food order. At least another 15-20 minutes went by at which point we realized it wasn't going to happen. Had to go to bar to pay and left. No apologies, don't think she even knew there was a problem! 5 people in the place! Hate to see when it's busy!! 1 of 5 because 0 isn't an option. read more

If you are a regular here you don't use Yelp. If you use Yelp you don't need to go here. On the several opportunities I have been their the service was friendly, the food was good and the decor is rustic. Also it is refreshing to somewhere that has some authenticity and history in the strip mall/corporate Warrendale/Wexford/Cranberry area. Why only 3 stars, because 3 stars means it was A-Ok which is more than I can say fro their beer, wine, or liquor selection. read more

Went here on a Friday around 6PM with 2 friends. Dining room wasn't very busy and it took over an hour to get the food, but the rustic atmosphere is a very nice touch. I got the Reuben, my other 2 friends got the turkey pretzel sandwich and a cheeseburger. Reuben was dry and small portioned and cheeseburger for $8 really isn't worth it. However the turkey pretzel sandwich looked pretty good. Overall, would not go back there. There are a ton of cheaper, nicer, and tastier places in the area that really make this place hard to recommend to someone. read more

Ambience & decor: 5 stars. Originally was the Brush Creek Hotel built in 1886. The inside is like a log cabin lodge. Beautiful. The dining room was little noisy for my taste because the wood floors and dark painted tile ceiling reflects a lot of sound from noisy patrons. Food: Not bad, not phenomenal. We had the Kansas City steaks because they were on special (a true special, like "the good old days," which means the prices are reduced). They were comparable to the least expensive steaks at Hoss's or Ponderosa. The fried calamari was good, as was the spinach salad with bacon, feta, hard boiled egg, tomato and warm bacon dressing. The turtle soup was excellent. We don't usually order dessert, but the two we ordered were excellent - Milky Way Pie and pecan-crusted bread pudding ala mode. Service: the place was full Saturday night, but we got right in, and it took a good while for our server to show up. On the plus side, she was very friendly and gracious. Value: all told, we felt that we got an excellent deal for the amount and quality of food we received. I would stop in here again. I would especially like to try the prime rib that one reviewer recommended. read more

We received a gift certificate for this restaurant so we figured we would try it. We got there about 5:00 PM on a Friday. The dining room had this kind of musty type of smell and it was was complete empty, Not a good sign. Normally I would have turned around and left, but like I said I had a gift certificate so we stayed. Our drinks came in reusable plastic cups that looked about twenty years old. My wife and I both order a fish dinner special that the waitress told us about. I was hoping it was fresh, being it was a special. She told us it was beer battered and it came out just plainly breaded. The fish wasn't that good but I ate it anyway. My wife didn't even eat hers. I got rice and french fries with mine. The rice tasted like cardboard, it was dry and tasteless. Totally inedible. The french fries were the best part of the meal. I'm sure glad I didn't pay for this meal. This restaurant needs a visit from Robert Irvine and the crew from Restaurant: Impossible... seriously!!! read more

I was so excited to go out with my family and have a meal with them. We are so busy this almost never happens. We received a gift card for Brush Creek and we decided to try it out. As we entered it smelled like mold and on a Friday at 5:00 pm it was empty. We waited to be seated a long time. When the wait staff took our drink order she told us the cook was late for work again. I ask if we should be worried. I always drink ice tea everyday and I was even discussed about that part. We should of ask to cash out our gift card and left. With every part of our meals we were all grossed out. I love fish every way usually i am not as picky as my husband and son but this was bad really bad. The best part of all 3 meals was my husbands fries. I think all these restaurants should keep a good chef and stop putting careless youngsters short order cooks in place because they want to cut back on pay roll it is not working. I can make a pretty good guess this establishment will close their doors soon. It is sad they have been there for ever the bad part about that is it shows. Need to keep up with society and change things up sometimes. Whats not broke don't change but for real. Our frozen tasteless meals and drinks served in soapy dirty glasses totaled 50.00 bucks. The next time if ever again we go out and receive this kind of service i will not eat the meals or pay for them either. I had to bring my family home and feed them our Friday night meal cost us double we should of bought nice steaks and grilled at home. I just want to have a nice date with my husband sometimes and enjoy the evening. I guess going out to eat is not gonna be part of it. I am a diabetic and i was sick by the time i brought my family home and finally cooked a meal and ate good food. If you're looking for a dive bar to grab a drink alone or with buddies, this will work. Nothing fancy, not for families. Restaurant side currently closed and slowly being renovated. Bar side has a few tables and TV and jukebox and a decent bar to saddle up. Beer selection is a bit thin but they usually have at least one good beer on tap. Food is average dive bar food. To begin with, we were seated in a booth that had a huge tear in the seating area, not too welcoming. This establishments food has gone down hill. We have eaten here at least once a month. The past several times were mediocre at best. On my last visit, I ordered the Yankee Pot Roast which has always been tender. It was so hard, it was difficult to cut with a knife. I sent it back and decided to go with a broiled fish sandwich instead. The fish was good, however it was served on the heels of the bread (a huge no-no in the restaurant business), which by the way was stale.Finally, when the bill came, we were overcharged.
