CYO Omelet

When we are in Illinois for our quarterly family visit, we always stop in here for brunch. The food is consistently good and the staff is really nice and attentive. Their menu is great and always has something new for the season. I love coming here because it always feels like home. The diner ambiance in the Midwest is something we miss living on the east coast. The wait is always long and I wish they had a reservation system so we could skip the line but otherwise definitely recommend because it's great comfort food.

Amazing! This was our first time at this location of brunch Café. The manager warmly greeted us and seated us in the booth that we requested. Our server, Veronica, was at our table immediately to greet us and take our drink order. We ordered the Potato Crusted Omelet with the Pancakes side plus coffee. The order was out in about 10 minutes, was hot and looked amazing. The portion size was huge. And the taste? We loved it. I don't often add this level of detail, but the manager was super nice and Veronica, our server was just amazing, super pleasant and super present. We're only in town for a few more days, but I think we'll be back to Brunch Cafe.

Very nice and bright store. Good parking. Fast service. Prices were decent too. Food was meh. Now I will admit I'm not a huge breakfast fan. I don't care for eggs unless they are Deviled or in a pastry. I also find most breakfast food bland and just too much. Plus it gets cold quickly. So it takes A LOT to impress me at breakfast. This place did not meet my criteria. To be fair though my DH, who loves breakfast, was not overly impressed either. Food was seasoned nicely except for bland eggs. Eggs were perfectly cooked over easy as requested. However the textures were all off for me. Gravy on my country fried steak was goopy. Potatoes were either a type I wasn't used to or were under cooked. Pancakes seemed doughy in the middle. Even the sodas were watery.

potato crusted omelette and in back? the avocado toast.

Alright now. Hubby and I have experienced several breakfast-y spots in the 15 months since we arrived in Illinois, and I'd passed this one daily while en route to my work (and it is conveniently in front of the former XSport (now LA Fitness) that I go to daily). That said- we walked on in, were quickly seated, and I decided to try the potato-crusted omelette and hubby got the avocado toast. Now, the potato crusted omelette exceeded expectations - the flavors weren't just the veggies/meat and potato, but the actual spices used to liven things up - bravo! Definitely a great choice. Hubby got the avocado toast - now, being from California, we are definitely on the lookout for a great avocado toast- and hubby loved it. The only downside was the standard cantaloupe, honeydew, and such that passes for "fresh fruit". Can we get a bit more creative with the fresh fruit? Still, the flavors were - per hubby- yummy esp for said toast. Nice. Now that's the food. The service was pretty on point, and we never had to wait any length of time for anything- very nice! We'll return for sure - and this place is highly recommended. Check it out!

(2025) Brunch Cafe - Addison, IL I recently had the pleasure of dining at Brunch Cafe in Addison, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience! Our waitress, Febe, provided EXCELLENT service--she was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing, coming out hot and fresh, just as we hoped. From the fluffy pancakes to the savory breakfast burrito, every dish was delicious and perfectly prepared. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. In my opinion, this restaurant should be rated #1 in Addison, IL for breakfast. No other place comes close to the quality and service we experienced here. Highly recommend! (2024) How ever long is your wait is please wait. It's definitely worth the wait. Their food is absolutely delicious and our waitress was professional + friendly. Carrot cake pancakes are my new favorite.

Great brunch location. No reservations but utilize option to add your place in line to save time in getting on the wait list before you arrive. Large portions enough for sharing, unless you consume a lot of food. Good variety of breakfast items to include meat/vegetarian options for all. Nice breakfast drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).

Egg whites, Ham off the Bone, and Brunch Potatoes

Sticking with my rating but just an update! Come back and got the two egg platter with egg whites and ham. Ham was a good portion and nice and thick. I upgraded to the cinnamon swirl pancakes. They were tasty! Better than the carrot cake for sure. Not douced in toppings like other places so I enjoyed them without feeling too guilty! The potatoes are still where they fell short. Portion was good and the seasonings are nice but they're always soggy instead of crispy which is just not my jam. Still a solid option for brunch when in the area.

This place is highly rated and for good reason! I've been wanting to try Brunch Cafe for quite some time now, so my sister and I opted in to go to their Addison location on a recent Sunday morning. It was a POPPIN' Sunday morning to say the least, as it usually is for all breakfast places on Sunday mornings. They use Yelp waitlist which is awesome, and they put us on the waitlist when we got there. They said it was going to be a 30-45 minute wait, and it was around 35 minutes until we got called and sat so it was a super accurate wait time. Our server was great! We didn't catch her name but she was nice and attentive despite the crazy busy restaurant. I love ketchup with my eggs and potatoes, but noticed they don't have ketchup out on the tables. They brought out a really small cup of ketchup so I asked for more; I wish they just had ketchup bottles out already so I didn't have to bother them for more! Bavocado skillet - 9/10. Skillet with avocado, bacon, tomatoes, and Gouda. The over easy eggs covered the whole skillet which I loved, and the potatoes were yummy. It was extremely bacon heavy and a tad too minimal on the avocado and tomato for my liking. Still delicious though! Chicken & rice soup (soup of the day) - 10/10. So flavorful, hot, and yummy. Breakfast burrito - 6.5/10. Not a lot of flavor, the guacamole reminded me of one that comes squeezed out of a premade bag, and overall just wasn't that great of a breakfast burrito. Strawberry mimosa - 10/10. Refreshing and perfect. Overall I'd definitely try Brunch Cafe again and maybe try to go during their off peak hours!

before arriving i hopped on the waitlist where it mentioned about a 10 minute wait which was not that bad. once seated we waited another 10 to get helped and to ask for drinks. we got waters which tasted fine. for food i got the strawberry banana crepes and a side of hasbrown. the crepes weren't all that. just basic with fruit on to and it seems like a lot of syrup but not really. i expected the crepe to have something inside. the hash browns were good though as i asked for extra crispy. overall busy environment on a sunday but would come back

This is an excellent choice for breakfast. I've never had their lunch items, but I'll bet they're also good. On this last occasion, I met a friend for breakfast here (my suggestion). I went with the country fried steak with eggs and hash browns. As usual, the service was spot on and friendly. This restaurant is clean and quite popular. I've also been here with my grandson. He had the pumpkin pancake special and I had the breakfast burrito. We enjoyed our time here, and were treated well. I highly recommend.

When we walked in, we were taken by the modern and well-maintained decor- and we were seated within 45 seconds- not too bad. The menu contained all the traditional, expected accoutrements of an American pancake house - with a readable menu "not" written in a size 8 font (yay!). We quickly ordered fresh-squeezed OJ (pricey, but good), and I ordered an American breakfast that consisted of 3 eggs (at least), lotsa taters, 3 pcs of sausage, and rye toast. Hubby ordered the Avocado Toast - a dish we relocated SoCal folks love. The food came at - literally- a warm (but not hot) temp- the Avocado Toast was yummy and very generous (the flavor was really good- and the avocado was totally fresh- nice!). My American breakfast was HUGE. And yup- it was good. We looked at each other and wondered why it took us SO LONG to drive down here? Probably as it's not super close to us, maybe? Damn. We'll be back.

We were seated immediately on arrival and noted the terrific bakery counter with pies and cakes- really cool! I ordered coffee (but of course) and hub-hub ordered a grapefruit juice. Both came fairly quickly. I ordered a french toast combo; the waitress said I'll give you exactly what you want for a bit less, as there was a cheaper option on the menu that'll just work! Of course, I said! Hubby ordered a sunny side up skillet that came with two beautiful sunny side up eggs on hash browns and onions. Ok- the verdict? My sausages weren't very flavorful, unfortunately. But the french toast? Fantastic -with warm syrup too (always a major plus). Hubby liked his skillet, but the problem was with the fresh onions- they were TOO fresh and not cooked thru. Hmm. That was the key one point demerit. But you know what? The owner- an older gent at the counter who took our money- had opened the place 35 years ago (!). Very nice. I like the spot, and would come back again for sure. Have YOU tried Dappers? If not - give it a shot!

After an hour we headed back and were told we had just a few more parties ahead of us. Another half hour passed and we checked in again, again being told our table would be ready soon. Another half hour passed, with our wait time now being TWO full hours, when we again checked in and they said we were next in line. After another 15 minutes, we just asked then to be honest since we were dining with 4 (now starving) kids, and they figured something out to be able to seat us (spoiler alert- they sat our party of 7 at a 4 person table). Now on to the positives... service was fantastic, food was fantastic, and the ambiance was lively and very family friendly. The different flavored mimosas were perfect, they had a great kids menu, including Mickey Mouse pancakes, and my whole group left stuffed and happy. Stray Hen would have been such an easy 5 stars had it not been for the more than double wait time with no explanation. Hopefully our next visit is better and I can update accordingly!

The service was impeccable from the initial welcome to the thank you as leaving we felt at home and cared for very well. Every bite was tasty and beautifully presented. The chilaquiles sauce was flavorful with a bit of spice, tortilla were crispy, the eggs perfectly cooked. My husband is a human garbage disposal (rude, but true). He is happy to eat here. I really hate this place. They are overpriced, very overcrowded (on any day of the week, however do not even attempt to get a table on the weekend). If you decide to come anyway, know that they provide no seating for waiting customers. This dump is standing room only. They have (kind of, to be generous) a couple of options for vegans. Their hashbrowns are made with canola oil, and by default only, they are vegan. They serve a very bad fruit cup at a very high price. If you bring your own vegan butter, their toast and English muffin are options as well. Vegetarians do well at any breakfast diner. There are no Celiac/gluten-free options that are marked, however to my limited knowledge eggs and hashbrowns are safe (minus toast) I really try to do my best and include everyone of every dietary choice/need in my reviews.
