Came to Subah Cafe right when they opened at 7 AM and honestly had such a good experience. The place was super cute and very clean, and the staff was incredibly nice and welcoming from the moment we walked in. I noticed they're on OpenTable, but at that hour the restaurant was pretty empty so reservations definitely didn't seem necessary. Parking can be a little tricky since it's on a corner intersection, but there's street parking nearby and I believe there's also a parking garage in the area. For food, we got the steak fajita skillet and the walnut banana pancakes. I had actually heard mixed reviews about the skillet before coming, but I ended up really liking it. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. It's honestly nice having another halal breakfast/brunch option in the Lombard area. The walnut banana pancakes were also really tasty and had great flavor. Only small downside was the orange juice wasn't fresh squeezed, which was a little disappointing, but overall everything else made up for it. Great food, great service, and a really nice atmosphere. I'd definitely come back!

This review will be updated when the cafe is open for awhile because this place is brand new! So new that the floors are waxy and slippery, so be careful! The cafe has a coastal vibe and was packed when we went Thursday morning. The full menu is not available right now. Our table of 7 ordered coffee, fajita omelet, steak fajita skillet, sweet chorizo skillet, chorizo chilaquiles, Italian beef sandwich, grilled cheese from kids menu, and a biscuit and gravy. Coffee was bitter though but my nephew enjoyed his mocha cappuccino. The portions were perfectly sized, not too much or little, so you don't need to share an entree like you would at other breakfast places. Our food came randomly which is fine for new restaurants, but our toast and pancakes came out really late. My biscuit was dry but the gravy helped for sure, I don't think I would order the biscuit by itself. Parking is difficult so pay attention to when you arrive so you can use the parking left over after the morning rush for trains. Our server did not rush us which is nice. Upon check out, I asked to see the detailed bill. We were already charged tip but that was not clear until I asked for the detailed bill back screen. It said service and fees, I could not see what the fees were for. In terms of flavor, we would order the sweet chorizo skillet again and the steak fajita omelet! The buttermilk pancakes were worth the wait! I hope the coffee improves!

We had such a great time today the food was so special and well thought out I got the poblano omelette and subah pancakes so good I want it again! They just opened so things took some time and not every item is Available but I recommend being flexible since they just opened had a great time and can't wait for the pink guava pancakes. Just wish they were a tad fluffier since I am pancake obsessed.

Our server Marwa was incredible she made sure to check on us throughout the meal asking us if we needed anything. The food itself was delicious but having a lovely conversation with Marwa was the highlight of the meal. I got the Steak Benedict & my friend had gotten the Shakshuka it was delicious. The matcha was heavenly & the steak was cooked to perfection I will be coming back to try it again.

We had a great experience at Subah Cafe! The food was fresh and flavorful, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff was very friendly ,Definitely a place we would visit again and recommend to others!

    Breakfast

Good service. Busy spot. Drinks were really good. Savory breakfast was 10/10 we had chilaquiles and gyro skillet. Pistachio and red velvet pancakes were ok. Will definitely come back to try the lunch items!

You could drive right by thinking it was a vacant building except for all the cars in the lot. The notion of vacant building is dispelled immediately upon entry. The place is busy, loud, vibrant with customers clearly enjoying the food and experience. The interior is decorated simply, with muted colors, is well lit, and clean. There are a lot of hard surfaces which makes the ambient noise level fairly high; however, it did not detract from the experience (but just be advised in case you feel this is bothersome). We were greeted warmly and though the place was packed, we were seated quickly. Despite the diner-like vibe, there is no counter, just tables and booths. Our server was prompt, very pleasant, and efficient. The coffee was hot and flavorful. The food: Large portions, well prepared, warm, savory, satisfying. The loaded Cheers omelette, with hash browns and pancakes, was more food than I could enjoy in one sitting so I have leftovers for tomorrow. Prices are in line with more reasonably priced independent eateries. A two-egg, hash browns, pancake combo is $14. This place will be an option in the future.

Juicy-O provided each team member with an individual container that contained the food for breakfast. This made setup easy and convenient. There was scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns inside each container, so you could get a full, classic breakfast all in one container. There was also pancakes and donuts for everyone, as well! I chose to eat the pancakes and those ended up being my favorite portion of the meal. The pancakes were light and fluffy! when I put syrup on them, they were absolutely delicious. It was a simple breakfast item but they did it right! Additionally, I ate a small amount of the scrambled eggs and both slices of bacon from my container. Everything tasted fresh, and the bacon was flavored well. Also, the portions were quite filling. I actually became full rather quickly after eating the pancakes and some of the other items. The breakfast that Juicy-O catered for us was excellent. The individual containers made serving the food extremely easy, and there was a large assortment of breakfast options available. It was a pleasant and fulfilling meal and a wonderful way to start the day with the rest of the team.

Nice patio seating area of 5-6 tables you want outside but be careful the sun is beaming out there. Inside 5-four person tables, 2-two person tables, a cozy couch for drinking your preferred beverage, and a coffee bar seating. The service was great. As a black coffee drinker the guy allowed me to taste the Cafe de Olla to make sure it wasn't too sweet for me. It was perfect and piping hot. The cinnamon, star of anise, and sugar have a nice balanced flavor. The chilaquiles con bistek y salsa verde was DELICIOUS!! The salsa had the perfect amount of heat and flavor. The egg cooked over medium was fresh and a perfect match for my breakfast. I believe my toast was sour dough bread perfectly toasted. It's very seldom that I come across a perfect meal that doesn't over or under do something. So to create a beautiful breakfast that packed nothing highlighted my day. The decor inside is full of plants and nature feel. Good music vibe. I would absolutely return here. I don't know if this is a family owned business but their simple menu got it right!
