There are a ton of brow microblading services in LA right now and choosing one is super difficult. The way that I went about it was to find several to follow on IG and pay attention to how consistent their work was and to see their work on women of color. When I was ready to book, I reached out to my top 3 (Kailin included) and asked a bunch of questions. Two of them seemed annoyed that I actually had questions before paying someone hundreds of dollars to alter my face. Soooo okay then. Kailin was super patient, addressed my concerns about having oily skin - it turns out that mine actually isn't - and was really nice not pushy so it was a no brainer for me to book with her. My first session with Kailin went really smoothly. She explained every step of the process and was so polite and professional but also very warm. My session was nearly pain-free and Kailin is such a perfectionist that I left with gorgeous brows. I did take Advil for the rest of the day after the numbing cream wore off but that is to be expected because your skin is getting cut into. I waited the designated healing period which was super easy. I had zero issues with anything, just minor itching from the scabs. When I went to my followup appointment, there were only a few tiny spots that needed to be filled in. One of them was more noticeable because I have several white brow hairs that made it look like the area was sparse. Kailin did an amazing job filling everything in. When I left that day, it looked like my brows were uneven and I texted Kailin a picture. She explained that it was just the scabbing - I guess I never noticed it on the first appointment because both brows were completely scabbed. She offered to fix anything that I was unhappy with once I was healed. Well fast forward a few days and everything looked absolutely perfect. Because I'd only had some strokes done, not my entire brows again, the healing process was super short this time around. Kailin has truly given me a gift and I could not be happier. I now can roll out of bed every day and not worry about doing my eyebrows. I have very short hair so they are really a focal point especially since I don't wear a lot of makeup. I was so self conscious about swimming and going to the gym before because I knew I would be left with sparse, scraggly brows the second I got them wet or started to sweat. I wish I could get back all of the time and money I have spent over the years trying to find a waterproof solution to having overplucked in the 90s. I went for a touch up but didn't know it was supposed to be within 3 weeks so I had to pay full price again. I wish I had written down notes. I got them done thicker this time because my eyebrows are natural that way. They do fade but since my eyebrows grew back I probably won't be doing this anymore. TIP: 1) Parking only on street so plan ahead 2) Take Tylenol and/or a Benadryl 1/2 hour before you go to lessen pain and calm you 3) If you want a Groupon (or other special) just call and Ilana will honor the price without having to go through the outside company 4) Make sure you wash your face or take a shower before your session because you should not put water on the area for at least 24 hours afterwards. 5) Natural eyebrows are not symmetrical so don't expect them to be when you're done. 6) People are nice to you if you are nice to them. So please remember to tip. Just a suggestion. 7) Remember to follow her care instructions following treatment for best results
