Courtesy, compassion, and decency is also an important component of a healthcare provider. This facility lacks the latter. Since at the last visit the veterinarian failed to check his anal glands they caused him to feel discomfort, have smelly breath, and to continually lick his behind. So we went to have Brodie's anal glands cleaned and expressed safely with his veterinarian. The procedure takes no more than 5 minutes. However gatekeeper Ethan refused to even ask the "technician" or veterinarian to perform the quick gland cleaning. This simple procedure could be done to alleviate our little one's discomfort. Before anything could be said in an abrupt nasty manner Ethan wanted us to accept an appointment two days later. To be transparent, we arrived 20 mins before closing. However the last patient was done as we left. It was clear that they wanted to go home regardless of any pressing issues concerning their patient. This place is only about $ and time. If you can't fit within their timeframe then you are out. In the past when there was an emergency they refused him because they did not have an opening. We rushed over to Bond Vet who accommodated him immediately. Sometimes you need to make the stretch to accommodate a longstanding patient. That makes a good healthcare provider. 9 to 5 with no exceptions is NOT a good practice. We are going somewhere else after all these years. Don't bother with this place unless your family member has a situation between 9 to 5 and have an appointment. This place gets 2 paws .

The entire experience was great as the vets were on time with their appointments and providing such care. We were provided two options, which is always nice to have. The prices are reasonable and never felt like they were being pushy about anything. The day after my dog's surgery, they called to check up on her. When my dog managed to remove her sutures early, I gave a call and they were helpful in guiding me what to do. Everyone has been friendly and caring, which is so important in any doctor. The results took awhile to get back until I called to check though, so wished I didn't wait around so long. Be proactive in making sure you have the information you need in a timely manner. Otherwise, glad to have found my dog's new vet.

Despite some mixed reviews, quirkiness and lo-fi facilities, we were mostly happy with the service provided in several annual checkups, a vaccination, and treatment of an ear problem. On September 3rd, we were out of state visiting family. A friend was dog sitting, and called us in tears explaining that our dog had panicked on a walk in our neighborhood, pulled out of his collar and run off. Our dog is fast and he got so far away his whereabouts were unknown. As hard as this would have been if we were present, being an airplane flight away made it a full nightmare. We rallied friends to join the search, posted online and began to prepare for me heading home early as we could not imagine losing our dog forever without giving it everything we had. The NYC recommended website for registering lost dogs asked for chip ID number. This was especially important since our dog had pulled out of his collar and had no other id. We were deathly afraid of him ending up at a shelter and never even knowing. Not having this chip number to hand, I called the vet on Friday at 5:12pm, praying that he would pick up as the office closes at 5:00pm. Imagine my relief when the familiar voice of the vet picked up nearly immediately. I started to explain the situation and hadn't even gotten to ask if had our chip ID on file when he raised his voice and said things like: "Who is this" "You have the wrong number" "YOU ARE WRONG" I was confused, and even briefly thought maybe I had misdialed. However, the vet has a very unique (for Brooklyn) manner of speaking, and I carried on, repeating myself several times until it was clear what I was after, the chip ID on file for our dog, who goes to Windsor Terrace Vet on Prospect Avenue. At this point, the responses changed: "This number is for emergencies only" "THE CLINIC IS CLOSED" The number I called is the public number on their website and on Google, the one shown in this very Yelp profile. I thought he must be (awkwardly, rudely) thinking I was calling for something routine. It was, after all, 12 minutes after closing, so perhaps he still wasn't understanding the urgency of the situation. I again repeated that we knew him well, our dog had been coming here for over three years, that this was indeed an emergency and that we just needed the chip ID number if he could please provide it. "YOU ARE NOT HEARING ME" "THE CLIIIIINIIIIIC IS CLOOOOOOOOOOSED" "EMERGENCY ONLY" No amount of me trying to make clear that our dog's life was in danger, no amount of pleading got him to say anything beyond this. Perhaps he had had a bad day? Perhaps he was far from the clinic and could not access their records system to provide the number we needed? Perhaps we didn't meet his definition of pet emergency? Perhaps if you call 12 minutes after close you should expect to be lied to and yelled at? We'll probably never know, because instead of listening and explaining any of this, he just kept yelling at me, probably for five whole minutes. I'm sorry about whatever it was that made him do that. But we learned that day that we cannot rely on him in time of our pet's greatest need. Epilogue - to our relief, our dog was found hours later thanks to Nextdoor. He required some minor vet care, but was mercifully not seriously harmed. Needless to say, he was taken to a new vet.

About eleven months ago, Dr. Alexander helped us through an extremely stressful moment. He treated Polito with kindness, honesty, and great professionalism. Instead of recommending a procedure that could have been risky because of Polito's age and health, he carefully explained the safest option and put my dog's well-being first. I will always be thankful for the peace of mind he gave me during such a difficult time. Now, Dr. Rodrigo Suarez is helping us with Polito's health once again, and I feel equally grateful. Dr. Suarez is compassionate, patient, and genuinely concerned about both his patients and their worried families. He listens carefully, explains everything clearly, and treats Polito with such gentleness that you can truly see his love and passion for animals. When I shared how overwhelmed and concerned I felt after everything we had already been through with Polito's care, Dr. Suarez responded with genuine understanding and kindness. He showed us a special level of consideration that helped us continue moving forward with the care Polito needed. That thoughtful gesture meant more to me than I can express, especially during such an emotional and stressful time. I also sincerely appreciate Josh, Janet, and the entire staff for always being kind, attentive, and supportive. Receiving this level of care from two different doctors has shown me that Alison Animal Hospital is filled with professionals who have not only excellent medical knowledge, but also genuine empathy and heart. When your pet is part of your family, finding people you can truly trust means everything. I wholeheartedly recommend Alison Animal Hospital to any pet owner looking for compassionate care, honest guidance, and professionals who will genuinely do their best to find the right solution for their pet. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such wonderful care of our Polito. Ervita

This office is remarkably busy, which is not surprising...PPAC is a reputable veterinary office located on a beautiful brownstone block adjacent to Prospect park. Despite always being booked so far in advance, they always manage to somehow finagle us in, whenever my dogs need time sensitive care, versus some maintenance visit. These days, the office typically keep two competent receptionists on staff each day to manage the flow of appointments, both virtually and in person. I appreciate how Dr. Nick is willing to communicate with me after my visits and, sometimes when there is urgency, even before my visits. Times of illness, injury, and especially the passing of loved ones can be emotional Our pets all deserve responsive veterinarians who offer sound advice to their owners and communicate well about choices. Sadly however, this is not always the case. Whereas I might go somewhere else for a quicky vaxx visit, I would never go anywhere other than PPAC for my dogs' real care. Doctors Silverman always try their best. Also, the vet techs are fabulous and some seem to work there for years, thus creating a familiar family-doctors-office vibe. I highly recommend PPAC!

There's a small waiting room with a mini fridge and water is available. The veterinary staff here helped me with my incredibly anxious kitty, recommending medication's to help her feel calm and less aggressive before future vet visits or travel. They have a pharmacy there which is super convenient. They also discovered that my kitty had gingivitis and needed a dental cleaning as well as teeth removal. We were able to get her blood work and then get a time scheduled for her to come back in when they could perform the teeth removal surgery on her. Everything went smoothly and they recommended a brand of dry food that is catered for dental care in cats. From time to time they run promotions on services like dental cleanings and I believe offer referral incentives (I'd ask, because I'm not 100% on this). I can't thank the doctors and staff here enough for working with my little kitty.

It was difficult to move away from him, not knowing what or who we'd end up with for our dog in the new neighborhood. Due to proximity more than anything, we decided to give Park Slope Vet Care a chance. After an initial visit with Dr. Maddon, I wasn't sure this was the right place for us. However, after reading so many positive reviews about Dr. Vinitsky, I decided to give them another try and see her on the second visit. What a difference! So glad I gave them another shot. Dr. V is compassionate, humble, intuitive, honest, easy to relate to, and most importantly, she is not an interventionist. She takes a well-balanced approach, weighing different options, and typically favors a less invasive or disruptive care regimen than just prescribing something, ordering test after test, or worse, insinuating that a procedure is indicated. In general, I like her gentle, no-nonsense approach and her courteous and friendly manner. Dr. V is a pleasure and makes going to the vet about as comfortable an experience as it can be.
