An offshoot of Browns, this is a mid-range shoe retailer that delivers reasonable value. Most shoes here are mid to high-level brands, but nothing too fancy. To get good deals, you need to wait for sales then dig as best you can to find them. However, the staff seem helpful and eager to get you the pair of shoes you need. The floor plan becomes a slight issue as it it crowded and with odd seating arrangements. As well, it is annoying to have to lift every shoe to determine the price or sale status. Overall, a reasonable to find shoes, maybe for a deal. Certainly enough selection but not somewhere you'll want to come to often. read more

I've been in a few different locations and I had the same experience: the sales representative stuff treats you like they are doing you a favor. I big favor. It was so unpleasant that I had to turn down the shoes I really liked. The representative would disappear forever, bring wrong shoes, bring wrong size, never talk to you and makes you feel unwelcome. read more

I needed boots. I am working outside and I had no good winter boots, having put the task off until I could find something on a budget that wasn't ugly, a tough task. So tonight after work I headed in the general direction of the Ugg store but wasn't sure since we are expecting a lot of rain. I thought Holt Renfrew might have Uggs and like it there, but their new store is badly laid out and I didn't see a good collection of boots. So I headed to the mall, meaning to just go out and along Robson street. I spotted some boots in here and it occurred to me "hey I'm in a mall" I am SO glad I went in! They had Docs and Uggs and some other cool wintery boots, as well as these lovely lined Sorels which Is what i bought. I was offered help by not one but 2 sales women whom I really liked, and the women who ended up helping me was quick and didn't try to hard sell me. The seating was plentiful and soft, and even though it was super busy (apparently there was some sort of sale going on) I felt I had enough room to find what I needed & was also rung through right away. Defs a fan of this Browns! Given the location (downtown core, inside Pacific Centre, beside Holt Renfrew,) you can expect the latest and greatest! Nice selection, and they always seem to have my size in stock (a rarity given that my size always seems to sell out first.) Prompt (albeit indifferent) service from the sales associates! read more

This has to be the best browns I've ever been in. Their selection is much wider than average and their staff is top notch. The guy I was dealing with went to grab me a pair of shoes from storage and managed to also bring out the two totally different pairs I had found while he was gone without me even having to ask. Typically too distracted by Holt Renfrew, I was oblivious to this store until a few weeks ago when a friend took me. My visit was very well timed, it was during their winter sale; unfortunately I have a common shoe size and everything I loved had already sold how, however I did pick up a pair of Michael Kors sandals for a very reasonable price - in fact I was looking at the same pair in Holt's only they didn't have the plain black I wanted. I will note about their sale... it is crazy! Manolo Blahniks reduced to $200!! There were a pair of Manolo boots reduced to $400 (and I know that pair retailed for +$1500). Their new Spring stock was on par with the offerings of the same brands at Holt Renfrew, and I thought they had a very good range of brands and prices. Staff was friendly and helpful no matter what you were looking at, it is always really busy when I go in but have no problem getting sizes to try on or whatever (like how I often experience at other shoe stores). Sale or no sale, I am officially an addict! read more

This place has fantastic shoes and great sales, but what I really like about it is the customer service. I generally dislike shopping, especially in malls, because most of the sales people out there are either way too pushy and over (read: fakely) enthusiastic about everything you try on, or ignore you almost entirely. But I've had a consistently positive experience at Brown's, where the staff seem to have mastered the art of being attentive (but not pushy) and kind (but not excessively complimenting everything). It actually feels relaxing to be in the store (especially compared to the hectic state of the mall). They also seem to genuinely know and like shoes and frequently offer candid opinions of the benefits of one or the other, as well as different situations/outfits you could use them for. I don't even bother going to other shoe stores anymore, to be honest! read more

Love buying shoes from these guys. I have had experiences with shoes breaking down (which weren't cheap to begin with) but they have no problem repairing or giving out a brand new pair. Great customer service and high quality shoes. read more
