Black boots.
Not just any black boots... but the perfect pair. If you as insanely picky as I about black boots you will sympathize on my more-than-a-year mission to find "the ones." I've been everywhere without any luck, so why not Aldo?
I hate Aldo when it comes down to it. Their shoes are completely overpriced and of poorer quality than Walmart. But they have some stylish good-for-a-season-as-long-as-you-don't-plan-on-walking-in-them shoes.
I found an acceptable pair of boots which had recent gone on sale, they were on the "try" list. I also stumbled upon a pair of zebra print crazy stilletos marked down 65% - cheap, so also worth a try.
A very friendly employee helped me, she was very enthusastic and very sweet. Two things though: first she wouldn't bring out the "mate" for the boots I wanted to try on as the floor model was my size... trying the one had to be successful before she would go through the trouble of retrieve its mate. Odd, but whatever. She did retrieve the mate for the stilletos. Stilletos I was sold (so uncomfortable by the way, but they are totally hot).
The boots were a little tight in the calf (at least the one was), so an obvious pass. And the one she thought was my size was actually at least a size too big. It wasn't going to work. She encouraged me to buy them anyways "They'll stretch A LOT" she says. Hmm, not enough [my reply]. She assures they'll work in the end.
The conversations ends as such - me: "No, I have really fat calves. It's not going to happen"
So, I hate them, but damn their sale prices are good; and as much as the employee was very and obviously focussed on making sales, she was friendly, bubbly, and polite.
Oh, and bonus star - instead of a bag a little handle was attached to my shoe box, so swish for not handing me a plastic bag! read more
