All day breakfast with pancakes, eggs, bacon, and hash browns
    Delaney F.

Local spot for 100 years, amazing food, atmosphere, and service. Whenever my family comes to town we grab breakfast here at least once- but all the food is amazing.

We came on Sunday for breakfast, and we will be back. They have outdoor seating, bar seating and an indoor dining space - it has a lot of character and very welcoming. The place has been around 99 years, it feels very well loved. The servers are working hard and scurrying around, they even gave us a tour of our seating options since they are a "sit wherever" establishment. We had the Loaded Breakfast Burrito (big enough to share), pancake, chicken fried chicken breakfast, and a hot coffee. Truthfully I have a tuff time picking a star of the show, but the biscuit, fried chicken, pancake and burrito rocked. If you're looking for kitschy Nashville, this isn't it. It's good food, served by good people in a great town.

Breakfast on Sat morning before the crowds. 9:30am alcohol is available. Homemade Bloody Mary Mix. Great Service as always, sat outside on the relatively new cozy covered porch. Food was FAB!!

Pretty solid place! The restaurant has a chill vibe with live music. I think there was more seating outside, but it was super cozy! You seat yourself and the waiter will come to you! The staff was attentive and friendly. We got a basket of garlic parm fries, and I would have liked a bit more parm! Way too much garlic! The fries themselves were great. They tasted like if Mcdonald's fries were less salty and more crunchy! Very good and solid burger! Will def be back!

1927 Cheeseburger with a side of fries

I ordered "Brown's 1927 Cheeseburger." The only difference since new ownership took over in 2021 is that the patty is now 6oz instead of 5oz. Everything else on the burger was seemingly the same: chopped lettuce, slice of tomato, raw onion, slice of American cheese and mayo with pickles speared on top of a white bun. The seasoning was very good! My burger was a little dry and the top bun felt cold-ish because of the attached pickles, even though it was toasted. The shoestring fries were pretty basic and super salty. The price point was right on. I liked the burger, and if I'd eaten it inside, I think I would have felt the historic ambiance a bit more. There are two distinct seating areas. I had dinner in the "new-ish" area, which had about 8 tables, some TVs and is airy and spacious. It was pretty busy when i went and it felt like they were a server or two short. The other area was an old trolley car with a cramped bar inside plus an attached indoor old-school dining area with lots of stuff on the walls. They had live music in the trolley car when I went, and the person I saw was really good.

I'm back.... If you are looking for a good Burger place in Nashville this is the place. It's not a fancy place and no reservations needed. Started off with some fried pickles, they were so good we ate them before I could take a picture of them! This time I decided to try the Pimento Cheese Burger with Bacon. It was a solid choice! Also, I got some Onion Rings, they had a light batter and fried perfect. What I like about this place is that it still has that local vibe. Great place to come and watch sports out on the deck, it's covered and heated in the winter. Check out the bar.... Oh yea the stories.... One of the best Burger Places in Nashville

What a delight! Sat outside on the patio which was a nice change of pace. Quick and friendly service. Might be the best biscuit I've had in Nashville. Sausage patty was outstanding. We never order pancakes but we couldn't resist the banana pancake which was delicious! That honey butter - mwah! Great bloody marry. We will be back. Free parking in back.

Great service, retro vibe, and amazing food! The perfect chill spot for a cold beer, juicy burger, and perfectly crispy onion rings. Also, the prices are great for a local Nashville spot!

VERY POOR SERVICE, UNDERSTAFFED(?) Waited an hour for food, wrong order brought to me and was not fixed, no fork in the silverware bundle, asked for mayo three times and only after we had finished our meal did the server come by and say "did you want mayo?," no refill, took forever to pay. Pros: decent food, good heated patio seating for games.

As you take your first bite, it seems like a pretty average burger. But bite after bite the burger gets better. From the hand formed patty to the fresh bun. But then the fries - got them dusted (definitely recommend) - the flavor was good. Found out they fry in beef tallow! Gave it the flavor McDonald's used to have! Definitely an old diner feel and the service was okay. I'd give it another go. Parking was not great. Paid parking was almost $9.

    Onion rings were delicious!

Had a fine experience for lunch on a January Tuesday - the menus look new and varied! Service was friendly and prompt. We brought a friend here for her first time and she liked her 1927 cheeseburger, I liked my patty melt even though all that butter made my fingers super greasy, and my spouse liked his his $8 hot chicken special salad! We showed her around the building and made a mental note to gone back to see Charlie Wortham perform in February. Glad this place is here!

Burger week special hatch green chili burger
    Sheila L.

I've lived in Nashville for 20 years and I had no idea this place existed until burger week! & I've been missing out! We decided to try browns out because we saw the hatch green chile burger special for burger week. We each ordered a burger & we ordered tater tots & added gravy & cheese to share. Holy moly was the food amazing! This is probably the best burger I've ever eaten! It's was massive! I needed a fork to eat it! The flavor of the hatch chili queso on the burger was so perfect! It had the perfect amount of spice to it! The burger was literally cooked a perfectly pink medium well! The bun was so soft & fresh! Our server was excellent! If our server was waiting on a table & we needed refills another one would take care of us! There's a bar area and a large dining room, we sat in the large dining room area! The free lot behind the restaurant was full, but we found free parking down the street. In a world where so many Nashville originals are going away, browns diner is the perfect reminder of nostalgic "old" Nashville with the decorations to match. We can't wait to come back and eat our way through their pretty extensive menu!

I think the diner has closed. Does anybody know for sure? I'm planning a reunion of my Peace Corps group. We trained in Nashville, and would like to revisit one of our favorite haunts.

I'll start off by saying I'm not the biggest fan of pancakes, nor cinnamon and have to be in the mood for both. Today happened to be the day. I tried their pancake sampler, with cinnamon, Caribbean and banana bread pancakes. They were all good, fluffy, airy and flavorful. Banana bread with their maple syrup, Caribbean with cinnamon. But, their cinnamon pancakes were amazing!! Those were definitely the winner!!! Best pancakes I've ever had. Their three pig omelette was pretty bomb as well. I got some of their sausage gravy on the side, to douse the omelette and that was definitely the move there. I think this is the first time I didn't need to use cholula for flavoring. The location is centralized, set up nicely, with huge open indoor space with plenty of seating outside. The service was great as well. Attentive and fast. All in all, I wish I had the time to come here yesterday, so I could try something different today. But, I took the place for everything it had and it definitely delivered.
