We're on vacation and came here on a locals reccomendation, what an adventure that choice turned out to be. Paid almost $11 to park as the diners lot was full and then walked into one of the most unpleasant dining experiences I've had in years. The waitresses were miserable, inattentive and at times borderline rude. I asked for milk for my hot tea "It's on the table ain't it"? Well, no, there's none on the table or I wouldn't have asked. The food wasn't bad; however, we got our food over an hour after being sat down. The vibe was dull and it seems the servers didn't want to come to work today. When we sat down we had three different people come up to us, one for drinks, one for getting our order, and then someone else completely to give us our food. We came on Sunday for breakfast, and we will be back. They have outdoor seating, bar seating and an indoor dining space - it has a lot of character and very welcoming. The place has been around 99 years, it feels very well loved. The servers are working hard and scurrying around, they even gave us a tour of our seating options since they are a "sit wherever" establishment. We had the Loaded Breakfast Burrito (big enough to share), pancake, chicken fried chicken breakfast, and a hot coffee. Truthfully I have a tuff time picking a star of the show, but the biscuit, fried chicken, pancake and burrito rocked. If you're looking for kitschy Nashville, this isn't it. Pretty solid place! The restaurant has a chill vibe with live music. I think there was more seating outside, but it was super cozy! You seat yourself and the waiter will come to you! I ordered "Brown's 1927 Cheeseburger." The only difference since new ownership took over in 2021 is that the patty is now 6oz instead of 5oz. Everything else on the burger was seemingly the same: chopped lettuce, slice of tomato, raw onion, slice of American cheese and mayo with pickles speared on top of a white bun. The seasoning was very good! My burger was a little dry and the top bun felt cold-ish because of the attached pickles, even though it was toasted. The shoestring fries were pretty basic and super salty. The price point was right on. I liked the burger, and if I'd eaten it inside, I think I would have felt the historic ambiance a bit more. There are two distinct seating areas. I had dinner in the "new-ish" area, which had about 8 tables, some TVs and is airy and spacious. It was pretty busy when i went and it felt like they were a server or two short. The other area was an old trolley car with a cramped bar inside plus an attached indoor old-school dining area with lots of stuff on the walls. They had live music in the trolley car when I went, and the person I saw was really good. read more

Started off with some fried pickles, they were so good we ate them before I could take a picture of them! This time I decided to try the Pimento Cheese Burger with Bacon. It was a solid choice! I don't give a review until I've given a couple chances and here goes. The feel of the place was great it was a typical diner. The service was awful to start. They were not busy at all and they had 3 people working the floor and we had all 3 pass our table multiple times and we had to ask for drinks every time. Not once did they say do yall need anything? We had to flag them down for drinks and it was hard to get their attention. The servers must have gotten chewed out by the boss that morning because they looked miserable and they all had bad attitudes from the moment we arrived. We never saw them smile once the whole time. It was depressing. The food was greasy soaked and we ordered tottchos and it didn't have cheese on it and the chicken was not cooked all the way though. So after getting the server's attention we got cheese. And they wanted to charge for it but the lady said "wait you didn't have cheese to start" so good catch on her. Everyone else at the table ordered something different and they all were disappointed as well and experienced the same level of disservice. Our workers and I will not be back. We came during burger week and had a fantastic burger. They were slammed and the server was going as fast as he possibly could managing 10-12 tables outside. I loved the live music playing and the overall outdoor atmosphere was really cool. The burger had goat cheese, arugula, and a few other things that made it stand out from a basic burger. We decided to try browns out because we saw the hatch green chile burger special for burger week. We each ordered a burger & we ordered tater tots & added gravy & cheese to share. Holy moly was the food amazing! This is probably the best burger I've ever eaten! It's was massive! I needed a fork to eat it! The flavor of the hatch chili queso on the burger was so perfect! It had the perfect amount of spice to it! The burger was literally cooked a perfectly pink medium well! The bun was so soft & fresh! Our server was excellent! If our server was waiting on a table & we needed refills another one would take care of us! There's a bar area and a large dining room, we sat in the large dining room area! The free lot behind the restaurant was full, but we found free parking down the street. In a world where so many Nashville originals are going away, browns diner is the perfect reminder of nostalgic "old" Nashville with the decorations to match. I got to Brown's about 8:00 on a Thursday and questioned if they were open because no one was in the parking lot. Went inside and found someone to ask. I sat outside and the weather was perfect. It is a little loud with traffic but there is a nice barrier. I ordered the Brown's Breakfast (2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and pancake) plus coffee. It was really good. I am not a huge Hashbrown person but I thought they were excellent. I did have to ask my server for a warm up on my coffee but I think she was the only server working. They recently completed a kitchen renovation, which I was told increased their capacity to cook for the crowds they see during peak hours. They have a full menu, including breakfast that is very popular. I've been coming to Brown's for 20 years for the burgers and honestly, have never had anything else from the food menu.
