10/10. They were closed but had nice decor displayed that you could see from the side walk. Would recommend and will be again.

Perfect ice cream shop located in the Phoenixville food area and will definitely be a best spot to finish a food stroll. They carry plenty of varieties to order. The staff is very friendly, and service is too fast. Lot of tables and chairs to sit. Definitely worth visiting this place and don't miss this cute place. Street side parking or paid parking lot options available. read more

CASH ONLY! Yummy and reasonably priced, this small-town ice cream shop is the stuff of dreams. They have a nice variety of ice cream, including a couple of vegan flavors - all Bassett's brand. Opt for a scoop or three, a banana split, or a milkshake. I've also never seen a PRETZEL ice cream cone before - but Brown's cow has it! The retro vibes are eclectic, and the decorations are fun to peruse. I was a big fan of the mobile toy train above the entrance! This is a solid option for my trademark "Ice Cream For Dinner." Their hours seem a bit wonky, so just check they're open before visiting. There's a small amount of indoor and outdoor seating, and street parking is your best bet if not visiting on foot/ bike. Treat yo' self. read more

They never miss! Never! All the flavors are to die for, but I always find myself going back for 1) mango 2) pistachio 3) caramel. Their ice cream is creamy & has the perfect amount of sweetness. Everything is reasonably priced and you get such great quality for your buck. Only issue is that sometimes I forget to bring cash and they only accept cash. So keep that in mind! In my opinion, it's one of the best ice cream shops around. I will continue to be a loyal customer whether it's wintertime or summertime! read more

The ice cream was delicious and so many flavors to choose from. I would definitely get the raspberry truffle again! Staff was very friendly, shop was very clean and great nostalgic decor. read more

Brown Cow yogurt has been our family's favorite for decades. Recently my wife had several unexpired yogurts show signs of fermentation. I was surprised until this morning - 2 recently purchased yogurts with unexpired dates knocked me for a loop. Called the company which also manufactures Stonyfield yogurts - company rep explained that it sounds like fermentation issues due to distribution - didn't seem that interested in looking Into this- oddly the yogurts was purchased in the same Wholefood store in NYC . One thing that we could agree on - time to find a new yogurt company. Wow - what a shame. Another favorite brand bites the dust. good luck read more

Brown's Cow is a small ice cream shop with seating for 12 inside and about 6 curbside outside. They carry a variety of Bassett ice cream flavors. The smell of fresh made waffle cones delight you as you enter. The store was clean with nostalgic mementos all over. The young lady at the counter was very nice. I did not try and ice cream or sundaes but opted for a milkshake instead. The milkshake was very good and a decent size at $6.50. The store is cash only so make sure you have cash before ordering. If not, there is a bank located just a stone's throw away. read more

Brown's Cow - 2 scoops: one cookie-dough ice cream and one vanilla ice cream, topped with hot fudge. - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Phoenixville, Pennsylvania

My friends have said good thinks about this place and I believe the amount of people coming in says a lot too. There were many ice flavors which made it hard to choose and I wanted to try something I don't normally get so I chose pistachio. It was a great ice cream, but I do with the nuts were chopped instead of whole. There are about four tables with four seats, but there's only a few feet in between the counter and the tables which makes it hard to maneuver. The register is on the opposite side of the entrance so it's a bit tough to get out of the place when there are more customers coming in. It's such a very quaint and cute shop that I would definitely go here again. Keep in mind, they're a cash only business. read more

Cute little ice cream shop! They have a lot of different flavors you can choose from and offer different kinds of cones (pretzel cone, waffle cone, sugar cone, cake cone, waffle bowls) I was pleasantly surprised by how good their green tea was! Most places don't do green tea very well but the one here tasted just like the haagen Daz one which is my favorite one!! I would def recommend this ice cream shop to anyone who is around the area read more

Super nice owner! They serve delicious Bassett's ice cream with quality waffle cones. I always get the cone dipped in chocolate and peanuts. They have true milkshakes that you can add malted powder too. Sometimes there's a line but it's always worth the wait. This is a cash only spot but there's an ATM just up the block if you're short on cash. Small sitting area outside where people can enjoy their frosty treats. read more

My spouse insisted on going in to see if they had an alternative ice cream. His spidey senses were right! Tofutti soymilk ice cream (chocolate) plus two sorbets, raspberry and mango when we were there. Unexpected delight. There are better non-dairy ice creams in my opinion, like the So Delicious brand, but still wonderful to have this in a regular ice cream shop. They may want to note this in the window. We would have walked right by, thinking there was nothing vegan for us. read more

I only review ice cream shops on the chocolate ice cream! It is worth going for the creamy chocolate.

I'll be equally happy to try another place as come back... but the location is perfect if you're dining on the main drag (Bridge Street) in Phoenixville. A nice little place whose ice cream is from Basset's - which I find good, not great. read more

Very impressed with the atmosphere, decor, and quality of Brown's Cow ice cream shop! From the second I walked in the door, I felt comfortable and in love with this place! There was a friendly staff that was quick to give samples and help you enjoy! And the ice cream was delicious, thick and creamy, and full of amazing flavor. The fact that they were out of several flavors speaks for itself! I gotta get here earlier next time! read more

This is a really cool old school ice cream parlor. Probably has about thirty flavors to choose from from the classics to green tea. Went with the traditional banana split. Only down side was that the strawberries as a topping were like the pie filling variety. A couple of waffle cones were also purchased and they were very nice. The portions are just about perfect sized without being too much. Store is clean and quaint. Really cool decor with vintage old Time ice cream parlor flair. Just a note they are cash only so come prepared. Really cool joint read more

This is a good downtown spot for takeout ice cream. Great for selection. Price includes experience, but quality is there.

This is a cool little ice cream shop. They had really interesting flavors like matcha. My boyfriend tried it and didn't love it but he was glad he tried it. I got coffee flavored ice cream and it was great! The shop has plenty of seating and it's in a great location. Only complaint is it felt a little a little expensive. read more

America's Oldest Ice Cream Company available in Phoenixville?? Bassetts is AWESOME and Brown's Cow is *the* spot to get it. The owner, Warren Brown, is super cool and also carries a selection of gelatos and vegan frozen treats. You cannot miss out on the waffle cones that are freshly dipped on premises or the Blob-wich (ice cream sandwich). Brown's Cow is open seasonally from April - October and as the saying goes, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." I sure do miss this place in the winter, but when Brown's Cow is open for biz, you know it is spring time! read more

Shop is tiny, be ready to know what you want! While you certainly can sample it can feel awkward if anyone else is there due to how small the space is. I had pomegranate blueberry ice cream with dark chocolate chunks and whipped cream. It was outstanding!! My go to is always vanilla so I went way off the charts with this and was glad I did!! My wife had peanut butter and mocha in a cup with a sugar cone on the side and was equally pleased! We each got a small, 2 scoops, it was plenty!!! One note: toppings aren't listed anywhere, probably would've gotten some if I knew what was available. There was no way to tell. read more

"How now brown cow? How now brown cow?"- Ron Burgundy The Brown serves up the hand scooped hard ice cream. I counted roughly about 30 flavors. They have classic flavors like Mint Chocolate Chip to more modern stuff like Gadzooks. I laughed when the toy train sped off at random by the door, or was it a toy trolley car? There's nothing like chomping on a tasty ice cream cone while walking around the amusements of Phoenixville. read more

I love my parents, really I do! I love them so much that every now and then I make the trek out dreaded 76 just to go and spend some quality time with them. At least, that's what I'd have them believe...... Truth be told, I go because on a warm summer night after the delicious home cooked meal has settled in my stomach my Dad comes up from the basement to smoke a cigarette and says to my Mom and I (as if he hasn't been planning it all night) "hey, you guys wanna go to get some ice cream?" I'm almost 30 years old and not ashamed to say that I still love when my Dad takes me out for ice cream! Brown's Cow hits the spot every time! Mr. Brown himself is sweet and friendly and knows a crapload about old school Phoenixville. To boot, he serves Bassetts which is the best locally made ice cream, the shop is cute and has a throwback sort of vibe. His staff is really nice and they have plenty of flavor options (vegan stuff too). read more

An okay place to get a frosty treat. Personally, I don't find the Bassett's ice cream they serve anything special. It's a typical commercial ice cream that uses guar gum, xanthan gum and soy lecithin to substitute for milk fat. Premium ice cream should be limited to milk, cream, sugar, egg, and a natural flavoring. And if you aren't serving premium ice cream, you can't be a great ice cream parlor. Basically you're paying to have standard store brand ice cream scooped into a cone or dish. Might be the best Phoenixville has to offer, but nothing all that special. Even a chain Hagan Daz would offer a better scoop. But, you could do worse. Also, Brown Cow is closed from around mid-October until May. Also, Cash Only (so not always convenient on a whim; suburbanites so seldom carry cash these days). read more

My kids and I love this place. Small old fashioned ice cream parlor. They do not make their own ( it's Bassetts which is pretty awesome!) There is limited seating inside so on the weekends it is best to sit on the benches and tables outside. They also do not take credit or debit cards so bring CASH. read more

Udderly Delicious as the lettering in the front window proudly proclaims! Browns is busy serving up Bassets ice cream, a local favorite, featuring your favorite standby flavors and a couple of original and locally inspired flavors like Gadzooks and WHYY! (Cheers if you get the references!) Bring your cash for a heaping scoop in a homemade hand dipped waffle cone! There is plenty of seating but it wouldn't be a summer evening without a stroll along bridge street! Friendly and fast service makes this the perfect place to stop for a summer treat! read more

The atmosphere/decor is very retro and I like it. I ordered the Mocha Chip and it was delicious. The server was very sweet and tolerated my goofiness. The "small" is a pretty decent size...I probably should have gotten the Junior (sorry Weight Watchers). They have a variety of cones to choose from, though the "special cones" aren't made there it's still a nice touch. Will definitely go back. read more

Great ice cream. They have the staple flavors but always have some interesting concoctions of their own. Samples are always available. In all honesty, I am a regular at Brown's Cow, but I thought I'd share why I think it's one of the reasons I love Phoenixville. They have the best ice cream, wonderful atmosphere, and the friendliest staff. Warren, the proprietor, is an antique collector and amateur local historian. He has wonderful things on the walls and in the windows. He is very generous with explanations, stories, and smiles poking out from under his bushy mustache. :-) The outdoor benches and tables are nice on pleasant evenings. My personal favorite is Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, which is dark chocolate ice cream with dark chocolate chips, in a chocolate-dipped waffle cone. read more
