We were walking in downtown Ocala and two girls overheard us talking about coffee shops and they said to check out Brown Dog Coffee House. This shop was just across the street from our location so we headed there. Stereotypical coffee house vibe inside with sofas, table games and a beautiful fireplace which added to the laid back ambiance - where we took refuge. Literally the one barista was making the fresh coffees and eats for all the customers so there was a ten or fifteen minute wait. Excellent competitive pricing for Espresso at $2.65, Cappuccino $4.45, Latte $4.40, Mocha $4.95 and Affogato $6.25. Next to the front counter was a gelato ice cream offering many flavors including Wild Strawberry, Coconut, Mint Chocolate Chip, Birthday Cake, Cookies & Cream and even a Vegan Vanilla. The owner took charge of the register and the line began to flow quickly as my Espresso was placed into my hand and was consumed quickly. The fireplace provided the perfect picturesque environment. The bathroom was super modern with light gray wooden flooring and a rectangular above counter sink, which added a nice flair.

This is a brand new coffee venue downtown. The owners are local and dedicated to producing a great product. I ordered a cold brew with caramel and a lemon bread. Both were delicious. The workers were very helpful and congenial. Saturday I went back and ordered an iced hazelnut latte. Also good. The space is very inviting. I'd definitely go there to study or meet with friends.

    Cozy atmosphere.

Went here to meet up with one of my friends. This place definitely had a cozy atmosphere. I got the brown dog and my son had a frappe and a brownie. Cost a little under $20. The drinks were good. My son ate half the brownie by the time I took a picture. Only complaint is there seems to be only one person work which made for a long wait to get our drinks. I'll go back again.

Coffee was great but it literally took 3 employees including the manager 15mins to make my iced americano with 2 people ahead of me in line who had clearly been standing there a while before I got there. Overcharged me for an extra double shot. Advertised as $1.00, was charged $2.40. $6 for a small iced americano with an extra double shot. And when the drink was finally finished, they were out of lids. Maybe I caught them on a bad day?

The coffee flavor, prices, and kind attitudes are not the issue. The issue is the incredibly slow service, lack of delegation and consistency. From my experience, they need more management and knowledge on how to run a coffee shop, from being comfortable with the coffee machines, knowing your menu, and organization. Everyone was doing everything with no specific dedicated duties assigned, to the point that an extra sandwich was created for a customer who had already received their order and left. The service was so slow another customer had to skip out on a breakfast sandwich they had already paid for because they needed to leave. Additionally, inventory seems to need to be done with time considering there was no lids for any of their coffee to-go cups (neither hot or cold). Lastly, the stinginess and lack of consistency on their sandwiches was frustrating. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on an English muffin and what I received after 30 minutes of waiting for 2 simple iced coffees and 2 of these small sandwiches was a plain English muffin, a slab of premade egg with crumbs of bacon and NO cheese. There's a lot of potential here but sadly better management is needed. very disappointing visit and wouldn't return.

Friendly barista, cute coffee shop, but VERY weak coffee. I would not suggest trying it.

From day one, the owner has made us feel welcomed, remembered, and truly part of his world, and that level of hospitality is something you can't manufacture. It's real, and it's why this place stands out. The gelato is on another level entirely. I've traveled, tasted, and tried gelato in major cities and abroad, and nothing (absolutely nothing) compares to what's being crafted right here in our growing Ocala. The flavors rotate constantly, keeping every visit exciting and perfectly matched to whatever mood you're in. Each batch is rich, smooth, balanced, and made with a passion you can taste. We've never left with a single regret, only smiles and that satisfied "this hit the spot" feeling. And honestly, the gelato here deserves worldwide recognition. It's that exceptional. But what truly elevates La Dolce Vita is the owner himself - someone who cares deeply not just about his shop, but about the people who walk through his doors. His pride, kindness, and consistency have created a place that feels like home for so many of us. Ocala is lucky to have this treasure. Thank you to the AMAZING owner who has poured years of heart into serving this community. This is a must‑visit, a must‑return, and a place that continues to set the bar for what great gelato (and great hospitality) should be.

I just don't understand why everyone but me is raving about this place. My friend went in to order sfogliatelle and a black and white cookie. He said the woman behind the counter was a bit impatient with him as he was looking at all the pastries and actually shook her head in frustration. I took one bite of the cookie and couldn't eat it. Both it and the sfogliatelle had a musty taste, though my friend said the inside of the shop didn't smell musty. I wanted to be one of the ones to rave about this place. Sadly, I cannot.

They make most of their chocolate products in store which is great to hear. They have very unique shapes and sizes which are great for gifts like chocolate footballs, dragons, acorns, and seasonal things like pumpkins. They also have a chocolate advent calendar which is made out of wood and just so stunning. They have chocolate covered popcorn which was their specialty back in the day but now they do a little bit of everything. They also have sugar free options. There were some free samples which was nice to try. Yes the prices are a little high but it's because of how unique and funky the chocolates are. I was craving just a regular chocolate bar so we bought a simple one and it tastes rich and yummy. It's not my all time favorite but it definitely tastes delicious and not like plastic like the mass produced chocolate bars. They have cute little baggies for small purchases which I love! Instead of just handing me the chocolate bar they handed me a cute little bag which adds to the overall shopping experience. It's a great shop to stop by on your visit to the villages.
