I went to Brown Dermatology after a different local dermatologist told me what I had been observing for a year (at that time) was 'nothing' and sent me on my way. I had waited a year to see that other doctor. As the condition persisted, I took a chance with Brown Dermatology and met with one of their nurse practitioners. My first appointment, which was several months out, was cancelled due to the provider being ill. It was rescheduled for later in the week. For that appointment I had been out for other appointments and was fifteen minutes away for an appointment in ten minutes. When I called them to say I would be late by five minutes they told me if I wasn't there in ten minutes I would be marked as a missed appointment and not seen. Odd, but OK, if that's policy, I just made another appointment. Well, that one was also cancelled because the provider was sick. OMG. A new appointment was booked for later that week and finally, on my fourth try, everything went smoothly. Life happens. Luckily I'm flexible. I was very worried about my appointment because of the previous doctor I had seen. At this point it's been over two years that I have been observing a scaly patch on my nose as well as some other 'new' to me points. The nurse practitioner was very patient listening to my observations and asked questions. She diagnosed two different things going on. The scaly patch is a pre-cancerous condition that she was able to freeze off at that visit so it's no longer a concern. Yay. For the other thing she prescribed a skin cream and gave me samples of face wash and sun screen. After just three days of treatment my skin is already looking more like my normal skin and I really like these samples she gave me. There is a sign at reception saying they are using new software so there may be some delays. They also use an online patient portal (as most doctors do these days) where you can send message and get test results. Their office is on the top floor of the building. The parking lot is large with several handicapped spots by the door. Doors are either automatic or have the wheelchair open mechanism. An elevator is across from the entrance. read more

I want to update my review of my experience with Brown Dermatology now that I have answers. I was seen (and gaslit) at the Warwick, Providence and South Kingstown location while trying to address a butterfly rash that developed any time I go outside and my right arm turning blue. My butterfly rash was brushed off by multiple specialists as a sun allergy despite having a known autoimmune condition and histamine intolerance. They gave me allergy meds and sent me on my way. As for my blue arm, they initially did a biopsy in Warwick that showed that it couldn't possibly be tattoo ink cause it went deeper than a tattoo would go. Despite this and even being sent to rounds at the Providence location over the course of countless visits, they told me to "cover it up with a tattoo" if it bothers me. That's when they brought up how much it'll cost. When I stood up for myself, they sent me on my way. Instead of referring me to a different specialist for investigation or admitting they don't know what's wrong, they brushed me off. I'm so glad I didn't listen to them and continued to advocate for myself! About a month ago, a different doctor who listened to me discovered that my arm is blue due to a condition called Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS)!!! It took this new doctor one visit and one test vs 2 years! Unfortunately, thanks to Brown Dermatology, my ability to get treatment and answers was drastically delayed... The kicker is that I asked the doctors at Brown Dermatology and they insisted that it's tattoo ink despite their own labs showing otherwise... TOS is something that needs treatment due to the risk of clots and can't just be "covered up with a tattoo" like the doctors at Brown Dermatology suggested... After this experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend Brown Dermatology. read more

The Dr.'s are fantastic and attentive during visits. They take their time and listen to what you have to say. They will not stop until they can figure out what is going on. The follow up from the nurses and assistants is horrendous, and that is the reason for the low score. You can call them for a week straight and they will not call you back. Their voice mail asks for 24 hours to return your call. Don't bother waiting because that call will never come. I recommend the doctors, however, I do not recommend the support staff they have because they do not follow up when needed. read more

I had a skin cancer on my head and had Brown Dermatology perform the surgery. Dr. Goldbach and Isaiah took care of me and I have to say their professional treatment and communication / explanations of what was going on made me more comfortable with the entire process. I was impressed with not only their medical treatment skills, but also their ability to calm down my anxiety and make the entire process with them a pleasant experience. I have had multiple medical issues over my lifetime, and I have to say Ihis was not just the routine "stiff sterile impersonal encounter". I would like to express my utmost appreciation to and satisfaction with the Mohs staff in Warwick, especially Corrin, Nicole, Ali, Steph and possibly others I may have missed. I love these ladies. They were extremely professional with just the right amount of humor mixed in. They could not have made me feel more comfortable given my circumstances. I have at least one more reconstructive surgery after removing melanoma from my face and I hope to have the same team by my side. They very gently removed and applied dressings after each surgery. Before, during and after each surgery, they frequently checked how I was feeling. They were just fantastic. I would also highly recommend Dr. Oliver Wisco. He is a talented surgeon with excellent communication skills and a very calm demeanor during surgery. I text a picture of my face to him every day and I get a quick "Looks great" response almost every day or he sends a text with a care change recommendation. In between visits, when we needed questions answered, Dr. Wisco set up a phone call to respond to our questions. It's extremely rare in today's world to get this kind of personal care. Writing this to express both gratitude and further recommendation regarding the manner in which the office staff relates to patients, particularly those who have major involvement with their skin problems. A close family member who was upset by a cancer diagnosis after removal of a growth, was treated with concern with every effort made for the individual to get an appointment within a very reasonable amount of time for another procedure. As a support person for this individual, I witnessed first hand what every patient wants and needs when confronted with a serious medical problem. In addition, Nurse practitioner, Peter Reilly, should be commended on his kind interactions with patients as well as his clear and helpful explanations in sharing his expertise with the patient. read more

Needed a new dermatologist due to a change in insurance. Called and waited twenty minutes on hold. The first appointment was more than two month out. Took it. After a month and a half they left a message to call because THEY needed to reschedule. Called today. Another long wait on hold. Now they want to schedule me 3 months out again. If I'm willing to travel the 40 minutes to Wakefied I can be seen in two moths. Done with this group. read more

I have a small growth on my skin which is concerning. I have friends who go to Brown Derm and suggested I contact them for an appointment. I left a message, someone called me back within 24 hours, and I explained my concerns. She stated it is, indeed, reason for concern and should be examined ASAP. I told her I'd like to schedule an appointment and she said it would be 5 months out!!! Although she said there is reason for me to be concerned, they do not care. If it is something to be concerned about, what will it look like in 5 months? Should I wait for it to mutate into something even more dangerous? I've been going to Brown Dermatology for 5+ years. They have been very accommodating with scheduling, fitting me in as soon as possible. The staff is organized, personable and set me at ease. The exams are very thorough. My surgery was performed onsite, saving me the need to go to the hospital. They made sure I understood my post op instructions before sending me home. Surgeries left minimal scarring. I feel I'm in good hands. read more
