First off, the timing of the appointment was 1.5 hours for just double ear piercings. She spent 30 minutes talking about the future of my ear, but a quick comment asking about future piercings would have been sufficient. It was too much. After signing the consent form, the piercer pulled out a thick binder and started showing me all kinds of pictures and scars and infections from piercings. That felt unnecessary. I told her I brought my sister to double check the piercings were straight as a light hearted comment. That ended making the process so much longer as she went into so much detail on the science of marking the ear. We did not need all the information on how she was going to pierce the ear, I just wanted it straight. At one point, we almost thought about leaving, but we had already invested an hour of our time. I felt uncomfortable trying to figure out how to move the appointment along without hurting her feelings. It became stressful as the customer. At the end of the day, the piercings are straight, the jewelry is good quality, and the piercer had good intentions. Although I just wish the appointment went smoother so we could of spent more time looking jewelry and potentially buying pieces. I felt exhausted by the end of the appointment.

It didn't feel like it was healing at all. Unfortunately I needed to have it looked at but this location was closed on Sunday and Monday. I didn't feel comfortable waiting so I went to another piercing shop to get it checked out. They told me that the jewelry I had wasn't good among other things and it was good I came in because it could have become infected. Now I know that different shops can be biased and have competition but I did change out the jewelry just to see if that would make a difference. It was like night and day. Within the next few hours my ear started to feel better. Then after a few days it got even better. Obviously my piercing will take time to heal but the pain I've been in has gone way down as it heals with the new jewelry. It was disappointing that I couldn't get this checked and that I needed to buy new jewelry and have it changed out.

Silver Safari was at the top of the list, and bonus that it was open on a Monday when most tattoo/piercing shops are closed. Dain and Cassie teamed up to pierce my daughter's ears both at the same time. They were both very patient, professional, and friendly. The private room was helpful in keeping my daughter calm. And even the oddball shop full of jewelry, gemstones, preserved bats & butterflies, and incense was helpful in keeping her distracted while we waited her turn so that she didn't lose her nerve. The piercing went smoothly and as soon as she hopped off the table, my daughter looked in the mirror, gasped, and exclaimed, "I LOVE them! Thank you, thank you thank you!" I will say that it was pricier than expected. For the piercing, jewelry (flat backs that had an upcharge) , and aftercare kit, plus tax, it came out to $176. But you get what you pay for and my daughter and I are both very satisfied with the experience. I never would have taken her to Claire's or a kiosk, and there's a good chance that a tattoo shop would've scared her off. So you can't argue with results!
