Hardwood floor installation ran into a few issues with a stair runner which left a gap when the carpet was removed. Brothers went above and beyond fix the problem coming out on a Saturday and one other day to resolve the issue after the flooring was installed. They were able to find a discontinue piece of trim to finish the project. Andrew as responsive and really helped solve a problem which was unforeseen by everyone until the carpeting was removed. In addition, the team finished ahead of schedule and the flooring looks great! There is always something problematic which comes up with home projects, and it was great that Brothers was able to make everything right without a hassle. They asked if they could help us, I clarified that they were open (wondering if they just didn't have them on yet)...was told they were. My wife and I went to Brothers Flooring in Spokane. We talked with Meghan about finding the flooring we're interested in buying and she told us all about how Brothers was like a family and the high quality of their work. Meghan also said that she would try to find the flooring we wanted. Well, we haven't heard from her for over a week now. Even after I texted her more info about the brand name of flooring. If this is an indication of their quality, I don't need them. I saw mixed reviews about them and now I'm led to believe the bad reviews are substantiated. Brothers Flooring was hired to install a hardwood floor in our apartment building. We wanted to start making improvements whenever there was a vacancy. It was decided that hardwood floors would be amazing!! The apartment is about 400sf and we went with a pre-sealed product. Come to find out, Brothers doesn't fill in any gaps between boards and believe me, there are many!! We called and asked if we would need to paint a sealer over them so they could seal the cracks and only told us it would void the warranty. So, here we are with an UNFINISHED floor and I have spent the last 3 days with a caulking gun filling in gaps with a colored caulking, getting carpal tunnel from squeezing sponges, enflaming my hip bursitis, getting stained from the caulk and I'm still not done!! And then what's really irritating is finding that on some boards a brad gun was used; so I have to fill in those holes as well. Then, after we moved the smaller refrigerator into the kitchen, we found out this floor needs a little blue pill to be considered a "hard"wood. This crap dents super easy which is devastating in a rental. Needless to say, Brothers Flooring will NOT be used for anymore of our apartments. We paid over $6,000 for an unfinished soft floor. Sooooo this is one review I have waited a long time to write. Gave the owner Andy Yank every opportunity to make things right. I have had 3 flooring projects done by Brothers flooring, and have had problems with 2 of the 3. You would think that repeat business would build a relationship that would provide maybe a lil better price or at the very least perhaps a site visit from salesman/owner when there were issues. So this is what I will say. I liked Andy and his family they were all nice. That being said... my 3rd project with Brothers flooring was refinishing my hardwood floors... Andy came out and measured himself, told me he had a dust free system that would eliminate almost all of the dust created by sanding. He quoted me $5500 I did not get other bids(I had on the other 2 jobs and his price was competitive) I felt we had a good business relationship and that he would give me a good deal. In his defense he told me that they didn't refinish hardwood but worked very closely with another company for that type of work. I don't want this to be a novel so I will try to condense. That "company" was a single guy... with a huge ego and obviously very little work ethic. Kevin something, anyway Kevin did the refinishing. I went out of town for the week as we could not use the main floor living area while the work was being done and all of our furniture was piled in various rooms... I did have family in town and they came by every day or so to feed animals and check on things... Kevin's sand free sander broke halfway thru the job and rather than get it fixed or rent another he decided to complete the job with a regular sander which left a generous coating of sawdust on everything in my 5500 sq ft home. He also left my back door wide open Friday when he left for the weekend and it wasn't discovered until Sunday. He said he put 3 coats of varnish or sealant or whatever it's called (I do not work in the floor industry so forgive me for not knowing what they use exactly) he most certainly did not as the original topcoat that was on the floor was obviously thicker and appeared to seal the joints between boards which crack and pop and are not sealed. He stuck a felt chair floor protector into the varnish in one place.. missed spots and took a chunk out of my floor in another place. I called Andy and emailed and sent pics of the areas of concern. He sent Kevin back out to fix the issues. I requested he come lay eyes on my floor multiple times. Andy never came. Kevin did however with huge attitude and an even bigger chip on his shoulder I guess for being called out for doing sub par work. Regardless, he was condescending and arrogant .. and obviously did not want to come back. He was rude to me and my daughter and was extremely unprofessional. A week after my floors were "done enough" (I just decided to live with the remaining issues rather than have to deal with Kevin again) my new refrigerator arrived and damaged the newly finished floors.(that's another story for another time) I got 3 quotes to repair. All 3 companies said they would have to redo entire floor as a patch would not work.. all 3 bids came in between $3300-$3500 for the same floor I had just paid Andy $5500 to refinish. Sigh. So here is he bottom line people... even if you think you have an established business relationship.. get competitive bids... and never NEVER pay for a job in full until it is complete to your satisfaction. Andy offered to pay to have my house cleaned to take care of the dust issue... my house is pretty big and I didn't feel it would be fair to ask him to pay for a complete cleaning. I requested he send me $150 as my maid service charged like $750-$800 for a full deep cleaning. He wrote me an email and said he would have sent a maid over but didn't want send me money. ( I have used the maid Andy was speaking of at his recommendation before and she spent 2 days here and still didn't finish cleaning, she told me it was just too much house for her so I didn't really want her to come back out) Still to this day he has never come out to my house to lay eyes on my floors. I'm not gonna say don't use Brothers (I won't) I think Andy is a good guy... I just think even put aside that he's the owner, if you sell a project and your customer is not happy because things didn't go as you said they would ... take a minute go to the site.. do what you can to retain the business and customer. It's a heckuva lot harder to get new customers then it is to keep existing customers. I should not have to call over and over for the same issues I as the customer should not have to ask over and over for things to be made right. read more

Classic Bait and Switch shop. Tyson quoted a price on carpeting and told us it was a great price because of all the business they do with the supplier. Their installer came out, did measurements and then they sent us the bid for the job. It was more than $2000 higher than what Tyson quoted us in the store. They padded the estimate by 23% on the square footage. However, the larger price adjustment came from the increased price in the carpet. Apparently it was on sale when we visited the shop and the sale ended. I was told they could get me in another carpet for the same price as the original quote (bait and switch, Tyson). I was also told this was the first time it happened to them (unlikely), to which I said if that's the case they should make it right. I was asked if I wanted to talk to the manager and then told when I could call him. I told Tyson I'm the customer and have no intention of calling, but we'll see if he calls me. Either way this review will not come down. You've been warned. read more

We have dealt with a number of contractors on many home projects. Brothers is a step above most. BUT there were still problems that should not have occurred and ones that were not corrected. The guys are very good to deal with but do need to improve communication on what will be taking place and when it will happen. The 2 installers were very friendly and personable. Aside from a few paint gouges and a very bad decision on sweeping up the prior dirt and drywall dust beneath the old floor, they did a very good job. End result; A beautiful new floor. I would use them again. We will need new carpet and they will be my first call. read more

My fiancée and I had our hardwood floors done by brothers flooring. Let me tell you, we had a huge home renovation due to water damage from our faucet that was leaking below the sink in the kitchen to our basement and that was extremely stressful and extremely EXPENSIVE. 9 months that we're terrible. We decided to go with brother flooring when we found out we had hardwood already under our tile in our kitchen and we have no regrets of going with the hardwood. They told us that they were be able to fix the creaking in the hardwood that we already had upstairs and that everything would be exactly how we wanted it. The crew lifted up with tile from the kitchen and dining room, and the carpet from the living room. We never realized until they showed us that we had hardwood underneath all the tile and carpet, so we were pleasantly surprised. They then removed our baseboard, and sanded the hardwood to clear imperfections and prepare it for the staining process. We had to stay out of the house during the staining process which was only 3 days, and the crew was very good about getting things done in a quick manner. It took roughly a week to two weeks to do the actual hardwood restoration. When we were finally able to come back to our house, we loved the look of the Mahogany wood color we chose. It looked great... until we realized later on the hardwood by our fireplaces was bowing upwards... and the creaks were far from gone... they were still there and just as noticeable as before. We called the company and they told us there was nothing they could do. We had to also call the crew back to reapply the baseboard that they were suppose to already put back on. Which took about a week to get them back out to finish the project... when they applied the baseboard they did an awful job... nothing is aligned how it previously was, there was stain on pieces of the baseboard and they put holes everywhere in the baseboard with a nail gun. Very sloppy job... all in all... we love the color we chose, we love the hardwood but I'm very disappointed with the work that was does. I hate looking at our baseboards.. I hate seeing the bow in the floor and I hate the creaking... hopefully not everyone has the same experience.. read more

The worst experience ever. Did a terrible job, no job supervision, destroyed my home, I was forced to move out, had to have my floors redone multiple times and they are horrific! I would get everything in writing and record everything they say they are doing and will complete. I would never recommend them to my worst enemy. read more
