Hired based off of all the amazing reviews. Crew showed up late. Not the end of the world... No complaints on their moving - everything was put where it needed to go, no walls, doors, etc were damaged in the process. They put together a few pieces of furniture for us. The simple furniture was no problem, but our guest bed is a bit more complicated. One of the main side rails was installed upside down. Several main cross beams were just floating, not screwed into anything. Thankfully I checked the bed before our guests arrived or it would have collapsed under their weight. When I started partially disassembling the bed to set it up properly I noticed that, in addition to the missing screws, half the existing screws were stripped. Luckily (I guess?) they weren't screwed in tightly and I was able to remove with pliers. I contacted Brother Bear to have the missing/damaged screws replaced and was advised to submit a claim with photos via email. I did so and expressed some urgency that our guests were set to arrive in 2 days and was assured that somebody would follow up by 2 pm the same day. That was on 8/25. As of today, 9/3 I have yet to hear back from them. I tried to follow up a few times and they refused to answer their phones. My voicemails have not been returned. I ended up buying replacement screws myself. It's one thing if they were to deny my request for whatever reason, but to just dismiss, ignore, and screen my calls over a minor damage claim? I can get over buying $10ish in hardware, but I will not use them again and would not recommend because I don't trust that their customer service will assist if anything else gets damaged. read more

Well everything was going good in the beginning then they started getting tired so I bought them lunch. I was called by Billy 2 times while the movers were there to check in. I had to tell them to wrap several things that I was watching them carry to the truck. I had damage to my front door and door frames and my basically brand new furniture that I'm still paying on. Some of the damage was because they were not helping each other carry heavy items. Also two holes were drilled into my desk that were not needed. I contacted brother bear several times and finally got a response and they said they could schedule a handyman to fix the damage so I told him my availability and now I'm getting no response after multiple text and emails. I paid them $1,425 to move and damage my stuff. I'm so upset at how they handle things I do not recommend this company at all. I gave them a chance to make it right and they decide to ignore. 5/5/21 Update I wrote this review on Yelp and so someone contacted me the next day and said this. Hi Christina, I saw your review on Yelp and I am glad that you brought this our attention. We sent your information to our handyman and he let us know that he set up an appointment with you... I'm not sure where the ball got dropped, but our intention is the same as it was from the beginning.. to get you taken care of. Would you like for us to send you the money so you can set up your own appointment and avoid and further confusion? We can send over $400 today. I asked them to schedule a repairman and that was a week ago. Now we are back to no response on asking about a repair man coming out. I really can't stand when people are so good to you and the minute they take your money its oh well on to screw the next person. I am now taking this to small claims court if this in not resolved by the end of the week. This is ridiculous and such bad business. My parents were going to use them next month to move a huge house and barn and two storage buildings but not now. Used them to move my girlfriends leftover possessions after a devastating apartment fire left her little or nothing except her few belongings and furniture that all smelled of smoke. They scheduled the time to arrive at 8:30 but hadn't left even then after I called and asked where they were. Mind you, I was there to oversee the girlfriends plans and instructions for the move.(Move the heavy bulky stuff, we can handle the small stuff) they would use her instructions in a double speak confusion tactic while grabbing the smaller boxes and lighter stuff.... I call and talk to a Ryan (there's like two of them) and tell him I want to hit only the 300 dollar mark, it's all I've got. He says tell them to wrap it up and get over to the new place and unload, all the while knowing he's talked to the girlfriend and she tells him she has four hundred and keeps this info to himself as the last 1.25 hours the two guys( they said they would send three) are now dragging because it's hot and they are tired. I call back and talk to another Ryan and (I guess) and he then says,"well we had agreed on 430.00 dollars and I'm trying to help out by not charging another hour because my guys are still there." Your guys are still here because the discuss every piece they move and talk with neighbors, drink energy drinks and light up and puff on black and milds." I tell him, also asking him to call the insurance adjuster and getting persmisson to bill them for the rest and let them get it all. He says he will and he'd call right back. HE NEVER DID. I did manage to witness the valuable antique bookcase (about 75 years old) get lodged into the stairwell and dragged out ripping the wood from the front of it and damaging it badly. Call and get another Ryan(maybe there are three?) and he says, "I can have our insurance call you and make a claim and get it fixed. NEVER GOT A CALL BACK (Like the others here report.... Never got a receipt, never a call from the insurance, nothing. I've called four times, she has called twice. They simply infinite the calls....Well, they did a bang up job(literally on her bookcase and loose items tossed around) and think I'm going to let it go? Nope, plenty of other places to leave reviews and contacting home advisor too as they claim to be approved by them....A simple call back and acknowledgment of what they stated they would do was all that was asked for. I requested last minute help for two hours. I was quoted 2 men for $119 hr. The two movers who were to come Ryan called and shared they were stuck at a prior job still. So he (one of the owners) and another gentleman showed up. Ryan really hustled and I could tell he really knew what he was doing. The other gentleman, although nice I could tell packing was not his strong point. He used too large of boxes for certain things that will be very heavy even for a man with muscle to carry down my stairs. I felt like I had to go behind him and direct him how to pack certain things. He seemed to get sidetracked easily. I guess when you spend $119 hr you want two people who know their trade and know it well and will hustle. I feel like I paid $119 for 1 1/2 people and I too was helping right along side them. In my mind the point of spending that amount of money would be so I don't have to do much. I am not saying they did a bad job...I just felt like I got shortchanged due to the lack of hustle and experience or performance by one of the individuals. Being these were the two people who were to be running the office tasks and customer service - instead they showed up to help me -- which I do appreciate, but phones going off left and right sort of bothered me. Was quoted $70/hr on Thumbtack, requested an estimate that also reflected that price. When the movers showed up at my house they told me their rate was $140/hr. They called their boss who said the lowest they could do was $119/hr. They had removed their Thumbtack profile the day before the move and blamed the price difference on Nick and said that nobody could reach him so they couldn't honor that price. After telling the movers I wouldn't pay their price they left. I finally got a hold of Nick who told me he would get them back and honor the price that he originally quoted me on Thumbtack. He hasn't answered any of my calls after that, and I imagine I don't have any movers coming. This company is a scam that is trying to trick people into thinking that their prices are lower than they are, then reveal to them the difference when most people don't have a choice to cancel movers. read more

Last Sat., May 29, I hired Brother Bear Moving Co. to move me from a house in Carrollton to a 2 bedroom apt.in Lewisville located at 940 W Round Grove Rd. I found them from an advertisement in Facebook Marketplace and they seemed to offer a fair deal for 2 movers and a box truck for 3 hours work. To make a long story short, The next day I noticed that my iphone 8 Plus was missing from a wooden cabinet I had stored it in before the move. Also I started getting some emails and phone calls from some of my credit card co. that there was some suspicious charges on the cards. Once I realized that the cards were missing from one of the tubs, I immediately called the card co., promptly had the card cancelled and the fraudulent charges were removed from my card. The next day, I called Billy with Brother Bear and told him my iphone was missing and about the credit card charges and I felt pretty sure that one of the movers had been involved. He said that he was sorry and that he was fairly sure he knew which mover had taken it because the same mover was fired after working my moving job because of subordination. I said what would the co. take responsibility for either replacing my iphone or reimbursing me for the cost. The iphone 8Plus is probably worth about $350.00. That was on Sunday, I have left them numerous phone messages, texts, and emails and no one will call me back or answer their phone. read more

So, I scheduled a move for May 16th. I have one (1) bedroom and a couch. This took seven (7) hours to go 30 mins away. I called around the 1.5 hour mark as they were making little to no progress and voiced my concerns away from the workers. I was told that "we would work something out". It then started raining. This was still no excuse for a move of one bedroom to take seven (7) hours. I packed up everything beforehand, dismantled the bed, made a pathway, and put everything in one area for them to pick up and just go. For some reason, they were moving like molasses. So, after all this, I spoke to "Ryan". He then stated that with all 7 of the hours it would be close to 1000 dollars ($875 to be exact) mind you, this is one bedroom..I jumped in abruptly and said that wasn't happening. He then stated that he would "take one hour off to help you out" not knowing that the guys also went to eat for an hour so that didn't "help" me at all. He then said an amount in the in the 600s. I, being annoyed at this point, sternly said, "There is no way possible I am paying that much money for a one bedroom move". He then says 575. At this point I'm like dude....that's not even right. You all have moved entire houses (listed in there Thumbtack account) for 450-500 dollars. I had a one bedroom apartment with no additives. I ended up being robbed and paying these people 500 dollars. He then stated as were discussing, that he understood how I felt and that the boss if out of town and that he wouldn't like it either. I was upset but civil and still respectful. I just said alright and alright. He then said his departing statement and we got off the phone. I then left a very VERY aggressive review on their Thumbtack. Remember that conversation I just stated? "Ryan" then lied and said I was so irrational and irate on the phone that he couldn't talk to me in a response to the review I left to save face to make it seem like they were in the right. He outright LIED. I was irate in the review I wrote oh yes. But the phone conversation was civil and I made sure to respect the workers at all times. He made it seem like I was the issue. Not the fact that they took seven (7) hours to move a one (1) bedroom apartment. Don't use these guys. If they took ownership, I'd have changed my tune but they didn't. They tried to make me look like the villian. It took so long I didn't even have them take the stuff upstairs I just said leave everything by the front door. Don't use these people. Please take the reviews seriously. I was robbed and then made out to be a crazy person for not being happy with the "service". I'm never hiring movers again. "Nick" who I was in contact with for scheduling and pricing confirmed the date and time. 10:30 strolls around and no one had shown up. I tried calling "nick" and texting him along with contacting and emailing the business contact.... NOTHING! I paid a deposit to lock my move, and they never freakin showed up. I'm in utter shock and FURIOUS! Who does business like that? And then to avoid my calls and texts. , I arranged for a 3 man crew and only 2 guys showed up. They arrived at our house at 9:30, the arrival window was between 8 and 9. The owner texted me saying they had to reset the trucks so they would be coming soon. After walking through our small home, which wasn't even fully furnished, one of the guys said without hesitation they would definitely be able to fit everything. After 4 hours, a third guy finally showed up. They didn't finish loading the truck for a total of 4 1/2 hours and didn't fit all of our stuff. Then, they called on the way to our new home saying they didn't realiZe they needed gas that morning so they had to stop for gas. It then took another almost 4 hours to unload the truck. The guys would bring in one item at a time most trips and even with my large labels I wrote on the boxes, they would still ask where things went or just place them in the wrong spot. Example, one box said "GARAGE" and they placed it in the formal living room. After putting 3 patio chairs on the patio, the fourth chair ended up in our dining room. We had to ask 2 guys to move it and they didn't even put it in the patio. They left it in the front yard in front of the gate, as well as a small trampoline I also specifically told one of the guys where it went, he also left it in the front yard. They dinged up mirrors, broke the latch on our side gate, and were just working very sloppy. The whole move took 8 hours which is just ridiculous with the amount of stuff we had. We were so unhappy with this service. It's especially disappointing that I texted The owner and called Him twice, with one voicemail and never received anything back. I also sent an email asking for someone to contact me and why and have still never heard back, almost 2 months later. read more

We had Brother Bear help us move out of our home in June. During the move, they broke a dresser, and damaged the walls and floors. During that move, everything was loaded into a storage locker as we were waiting for our new home. When we unloaded the locker finally, we discovered much more damage. Seat chairs ripped, broken glass on furniture, and scratched furniture. The worst part is that their "claims" service is a complete joke. We booked Brother Bear Movers to move my daughter out of her apt. It went very well. I was impressed with their response time and customer service. The move itself was great. I needed to move some furniture to storage so I called again to book. It took several attempts to get them to respond. We booked for this morning at 9am. They did not show, so I called, texted, and emailed. Finally heard back and they said they had called yesterday to confirm. I did not get a phone call, however, cell phones sometimes are unreliable. They showed me that they had indeed called, but did not leave me a message. They said they could still come today and it would not be too long. I asked for an ETA. No response. I waited two hours and called and texted again for an ETA. No response. Finally told them I was done, to cancel the move and that I would be leaving a less than glowing review. Then I heard back immediately! They apologized and told me there was a miscommunication with what time they were supposed to be here. (I have a text saying they would arrive at 9am) and would give me a 100.00 toward another mover if I would reconsider leaving a bad review. Though I appreciate the offer, I turned it down. What I wanted was a mover to show up when they said they would, to answer my communication in a timely manner and to do what they promised. This did not happen. We will not use them again. read more

Be sure to book this company if you want them to break all of your furniture! They did a great job of breaking or damaging EVERY piece they touched!!!! Dropped my couch to the point where it bounced on the concrete and ripped the leather off. I watched it ALL happen!! Damaged the corner of my couch and all sides! This is a brand new couch that I've made two payments on- RUINED! They tried to Tell me the damage was DUST?! Ha! Damaged my wooden dining room table by wedging the corner and the pressure splitting and breaking the wood! An antique piece that I've moved across the country five times without issues until THEY touched it! Ruined! They tried to claim it was "already broken". A joke!!!! Will not hire this company again. I was told that everything would be wrapped. They only wrapped the things with doors and drawers that may open. No wrap on leather sofas or chairs. Nothing at all to protect mirrors. Took a big chunk out of a piece of office furniture. Also NO COMMUNICATION after we booked. I was supposed to get an email from the scheduler, Matt, confirming everything. When nothing came, I emailed them thru the Thumbtack app (where I originally found them). I was told I was definitely on the schedule. Day of the move, radio silence. I called and texted Ryan three times with no answer. So I called Matt. He confirmed and said he would keep me updated (because their arrival time is a 2-hour window). He said they would call when they were 20 minutes out. No call. They did show up though. I'm really at a point now where we may end up having to bring someone else out (since all of the items are in Pods) to take everything out and wrap/pack it properly. Extremely frustrating. read more

THEY DID NOT COME OUT!. I called last week to schedule a move for Monday (yesterday) and was told I needed to be rescheduled to Tuesday (today) at 8 am. I need to give away my house today so I was upset but they said they specialize in arcade games which we have a lot of so I said yes. I get a text from Ryan the crew and email the night before confirming my move in the morning. This morning rolls around and by 8:57 I text them asking where they were - no response. I call Nick the person in the office who took my appointment and he said he's going to call the crew. An hour later no word from Nick so I try to call again. NO ANSWER! I call the phone number listed on google - NO ANSWER! Eventually Nick says Ryan the crew tried to reach out to me this morning but I never answered! Brother Bear Moving Customer service is terrible We hired them to move us last month - First off they stated they do not have any hidden fees Movers showed up (2 of the 4 movers) at 9am the other 2 showed up at 945am My time started at 730am when they left Lewisville and both of the guys there stated don't worry your time hasn't started and will start when other 2 arrive. Our move was completely overwhelming for them we moved from a 4000 sq ft home to 3 storage units this was told multiple times when booking. brought out more trucks and movers which I agreed to pay. But what I DID not agree to was paying for the drive time this was very dishonest. Then 3 of the movers left and still 1.5 hours left for the other guys to complete the move & they did not reduce the rate kept the charge @$250.00 per hour. Talked to Ryan (I think this was his name ) multiple people I spoke with and the above hours were getting credited via square where it was paid. Still waiting 3 weeks no credit/no phone call as a last resort I disputed on my card mayb a call would get refunded NOTHING! Very disappointment! We hired Brother Bear after recently moving to Texas from South Carolina. It was our first time using a moving company and we're very excited because we now have 3 small children and were not looking forward to trying to do it all ourselves. That being said this was the worst experience that could have happened. The first day they were suppose to move us they were going to be over an hour late so we reschedule later in the day. After having to reach out to them several times with no contact and being told several different arrival times the crew some how ended up an hour away from us. We agreed to let them come the next morning after being guaranteed they'd be there at 9am sharp. 9:15 rolls around and the truck ran out of gas. They finally got started about 10:30. The crew brought nothing with them to wrap our protect any of our furniture so several items were severely damaged. After requesting to speak with management/owners through out the entire 2 day process no one would take our calls or reach out to us. This was the most unprofessional group of individuals I have ever dealt with and would encourage people to look elsewhere when trying to hire a moving company. The amount of stress and inconvenience this put on my family and children is insane. And to top it off they clearly didn't care.
