Their website says they are open 24 hours. I called on a Sunday around 6 pm and no one answered, no option to leave a voicemail and no answering service. I submitted an online quote request at 7 pm that same day. They emailed me Tuesday at 7:43 am. Extremely dishonest - avoid! The techs at Brooks Plumbing are quite good and easy to work with. The problem is the owner. He is an absolute jerk. The plumber came to the house to clear a drain that took 5 minutes and stated the charge would be $120 which I felt was reasonable. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to pay while the technician is at the house. The next day I received a bill for $270. When I politely called to ask about the bill amount, he hung up on me before I could finish my opening sentence. I called back and asked why he would hang up on me when I've been a customer for years. He said he didn't need my business since he has lots of customers. He has hung up on me several times in the past but I have always come back since I love the technicians. No more. I have a name for these people, "Drop The Ball Plumbing!" Because they dropped the ball every opportunity they had with our project. We have worked with several other plumbers for our commercial kitchen here in Garland. In fact we had a large project where we had to deal with plumbers for months installing a grease trap. That project was a walk in the park compared to working with these guys. Jaclyn and John are the most unprofessional two it's unbelievable. Jaclyn blamed a misunderstanding we had on a new hire she was training. Seems to me, Jaclyn is the one who needs basic customer service training because she could not even deescalate a minor misunderstanding over the phone with me a customer without being disrespectful and hanging up the phone on me. Even though I had every right to be upset because once again they gave us wrong information, dropping the ball! So yeah let's call them drop the ball office staff! P.S they have a 3.0 ratings on yelp that seems more realistic for this unprofessional bunch! They are not even professional enough to buy fake reviews for yelp as well. Just a mess! read more

had a positive experience with Brooks Plumbing from beginning to end. A sewer line leak was recently detected while having foundation work done. My plumber who's helped with smaller projects did not have the equipment or skill set to take this on so after some recommendations and checking reviews, I hired Brooks. Jaclyn @ Brooks patiently answered my questions, explained the process, costs and timeline. They completed the project with minimal disruption in 3 days. The crew was professional and conscientious. Brooks thoroughly checked the lines and determined that the system was not leaking. They showed up on time and did a great job. Their office personnel were pleasant to deal with. Poor customer service. Owner is extremely rude. Expensive charges for doing nothing! I was dealing with a visible plumbing leak in the bathroom. After explaining to the dispatch in detail what the situation was, the service technician arrived with no capability nor tools to perform the job. He did - in 5 minutes - let me know he can see a leak! I was charged $200 for this 5-minute visit and they were not even able to provide a quote for the service needed! Definitely not recommend using this company especially as there is so many other companies around that are easier to work with. read more

I WILL NEVER use these people for service again. We used for two services and it was two separate bills - one to fix busted water pipe. The other to fix gas leaks. To fix a gas leaks, they overcharged us on every line item (labor, materials and city permit). When I asked him to break down the charges, he said he was doing us a favor by not charging more and he felt personally insulted we were questioning the bill. This all occurred during this February's Texas Winter storm, so there wasn't time for much vetting. We did some but were also in a desperate living situation. He was even recommended by our insurance company. We found out later, he makes sure the people he needs to keep "happy" - like certain entities (city permit office, insurance and 'select' customers) - so his tactics go unquestioned. For example, he kept busted pipe charge 'reasonable' as this was being paid by Insurance. But he rips off customers whenever he can. Later we found several horrible reviews on him with similar overcharging. In fact ALL his NEGATIVE reviews are for OVER CHARGING with a few for subpar work. He charged $750 for labor without breaking down the per unit cost and the number of hours. I'm not sure what hours were submitted by his workers, but we know exactly how many hours they were at our home. It doesn't justify what we were charged. He essentially charged $125/hour for LABOR. Other plumbers we called for estimates charged well below $125/hour. Sadly, none were available because of all the busted pipes around the city. He charged $162.50 for parts when we found they cost approximately $60 to $88. He charged $125 for a city permit. We called the Irving city office with all our info. They specifically told us the permit is only $52. They literally laughed when I told them he charged $125. He overcharged us by approximately $300 to $500. He didn't discuss an estimate with us prior to doing the work and he is shamelessly taking advantage of us during the storm, charging us more KNOWING the bill is not accurate. I tried to speak with the owner about it twice. He has no explanation and yet refuses to adjust the bill. read more

I have a rental house in Dallas and my agency called Brooks Plumbing and that was a waste of money. They came out for 15 mins and billed $250 saying they did a camera and there's a break in the line, but they can't tell anything about it because they need to install a cleanout for $650. They could have said there's no cleanout for us to do an accurate assessment of the issue, but to charge $250 for 15 mins. Sorry, but these guys want $$ and when I tried to negotiate with them, they were rude and unresponsive. Threatening to go into collections with my Rental Agency. I called Brooks Plumbing at 4:30PM on Friday after coming home to find the water pouring from my ceiling. The owner of the company sent a plumber right away, the didn't arrive until 5:00PM but they worked until they got the issue resolved and they didn't charge me extra for working past 5:00PM. I do not know what position he occupies at the business, but it may be time for a change. We were sent to this plumbing company by our insurance company. They quoted out the work and submitted it to our insurance company. All was well and good. After closer inspection of the invoice, I became interested in the breakdown. This was after the work was done because after I saw what they needed to do, I was curious on how they got their numbers. I asked questions about the breakdown. As soon as that happened, John became very combative and told me, "it was none of my business'. After a few minutes of back and forth, he decided to leave it alone and threaten small-claims court. He even went as far as to belittle my knowledge of what was going on. Incidentally, I brought this invoice to two other plumbers to get their opinion. Both said it would have cost around $200 for the work. Save yourself the hassle. Find a reputable plumbing company. Do not use this one. You WILL be overcharged and they will not explain it (i.e it cost $700 to replace a 2 ft piece of copper pipe with a valve and two fittings). read more

This company was a recommendation. The techs came out and found out what the problem was and we were told by the tech that it should around such and such price. He said he would need to call to confirm and he comes back the price was double and the could start now which it was already 4pm. We told them to hold off and we would get back to them tomorrow. Unbeknownst to us, they sent out a crew to start excavating the next. They never called or knocked and said we were here or on our way. Who does that?! We heard something outside and looked out the window and saw they had already dug a huge hole in the front yard. We went outside and told them that we asked them to hold off. Called up the office they were extremely rude then decided they were not going to do the job even though we told them to hold off but we need to pay for the excavation. They were efficient, communicative, friendly, and paid attention to detail. When the job was finished, they cleaned up so nicely, you can't even tell the tunnel was dug. Brooks was recommended to us by a neighbor; we called thinking we had a clogged kitchen drain and instead found we had a section of cast iron pipe under the foundation that had cracked down its length and needed to be replaced. We got a detailed estimate from Brooks Plumbing, turned it in to our insurance and found it was covered by our policy. We were a little slow getting the job started because of the weather and some early miscommunication, but once they started we were extremely pleased with the efficiency and professionalism of the workers. One day to dig, one to fix, and one to fill in the hole, plus an hour the next day to haul the leftover dirt away. They left the yard pristine. These guys are real pro's. I've used them twice; once for a slab leak caused by a bad contractor and once to do multiple faucet installs (kitchen and bath). They were able to find the slab leak with minimal effort and drilled right to it. That was more than 2 years ago, and I've experienced no problems since. The faucets were ones I had purchased but never got around to installing myself - also no problems since. Yes - they cost more than Lowes to install a faucet, but you are paying experienced professionals who give a D@mz about the end product. If you aren't interested in messing around then call these guys and get the job done right. read more

I can't answer for others experience but they were awesome fixing my leak under the foundation. The owner quickly reviewed what the issue was and quoted an extremely fair price. They showed up exactly when scheduled and went to work. The two plumbers were nice and never complained about my hovering to learn more about my foundation and plumbing. They answered every question. The least they could have done was to have the courtesy to let me know they weren't interested so I didn't waste the time I did waiting for the response. Well their loss is my gain. Hired for a gas pressure test on a Monday that had to be completed before I sold my home because they said they could start the next day (other places were less expensive but couldn't be out fast). So the next day I get a call at the end of the day saying they had too much other stuff to do and they would have to do it first thing Wednesday morning. End of day Wednesday they still have not even started the job. I call them to let them know I was going to find somebody else and they informed me that they already paid for permits and I would get the bill in the mail. Great! So instead of increasing my expenses even more I asked when they would be done. Friday. A day later than another company quoted me earlier that week. I have to close on the house on Tuesday and don't have time to find somebody else now. Friday shows up and a plumber and helper show up. I am not at the house so they start to work first thing in the morning. It's late in the afternoon so I call to see how things went - they are still there billing me by the hour. Of course they say they are fixing leaks - but after what I found out next I really question that. The house was on a lock box with a key combo since it was being sold, and there was only 4 people with the combo. My agent, the buyer's agent, Brooks plumbing, and myself. Friday night somebody stole the lockbox, and all the brand new kitchen aid appliances from inside the house. Considering they went in the lockbox - there was only 4 people that new the code. Call the owner - and he pretty much laughed and said make sure you pay the bill (that was 4 times what they quoted) or I will file a lien on your house. John Brooks & his plumbers are amazing. I have had several big jobs done at my home. I had a pin-hole leak that flooded my house, my sewer line was clogged with tree limbs and had to be replaced. Once my dog dropped a bone down the toilet and they came to the rescue. That may have been a first for them... John has always been able to send someone out the same day for me. Prices compared to other bids I have received are basically cut in half with Brooks Plumbing. Highly recommend these guys! Only plumber I'll ever use. read more

I called them to get a price on a bathtub drain pipe cleaning and the lady on the phone that she didn't know!! Really?? She said there would be a trip fee and then a flat rate that I could either take or leave. Extremely rude owner, wanted to discuss his bid. He stated that's the price and hung up on me. His company did the static test after foundation work was completed. Called them to fix the sewer leak and he didn't even know they did the static test. Try to charge for tunneling under the house when it was a simple jack hammer job in the bathroom floor which is half the price. He should have know this since their company came out to locate the leak. Our house is being totally remodeled so flooring was already demoed. Easy fix.
