I was introduced to Glee Dental by my mom last year when she had to receive some services. Let's just say, many of our family members are now patients there including myself. The staff is so kind, welcoming, professional, and are very transparent regarding any of the health information you should know about your oral care! Dr. O is the BEST in the game!! She educates you on what is going on and what she can/will do to help resolve many issues you may have. When receiving services, she and her Dental Hygienist/Assistants just make you feel comfortable while in the chair! May I add, she is the BEST at giving any sort of medication in the form of a shot; truly I barely feel a thing! I feel like that's important to note because I know a lot of people are afraid of needles. They encourage and educate you on what you can do at home to prevent any further damages or concerns to your oral health. I always feel like dentist are out to get you for your money BUT Dr. O do not! They truly just want to guide you to having the best oral care! I really wanted to overlook those issues and continue bringing my family here, but when there are problems almost every time we visit, it becomes too stressful. If you're a new patient, my advice is to verify that the office has confirmed they are in-network with your insurance BEFORE your appointment--even if your insurance company lists them as in-network. The office says they verify insurance the day before your visit and will contact you if they don't accept it. Naturally, you assume everything is fine if you never hear from them and no one mentions anything at check-in. However, in our experience, they sometimes verify your insurance while you're already there, only to tell you at checkout that they don't accept your insurance and that you're responsible for the full balance. In all fairness for this instance, the balance was finally written off after I complained about it. The same applies if you're having anything beyond a routine cleaning. Make sure they've verified whether the procedure is covered by your insurance BEFORE treatment begins. I repeatedly expressed my concerns and was always reassured that things would improve, but issues continued to happen. The office considers it a courtesy if they don't collect payment at checkout and offer various payment options to make your payment. I don't see that as accommodating when the situation could have been avoided with proper insurance verification beforehand. In one instance when my husband was given the "courtesy" to not pay at checkout, the moment he left his appointment, I received a text with photos of his invoice, the balance due, and a payment link. I was also told that because the insurance policy is in my name, I am responsible for his bill and I will be sent to collections if the bill is not paid, which I found frustrating. I understand mistakes happen, and I know times are difficult for many families. That's exactly why clear communication and accurate insurance verification are so important. Unfortunately, I was told I am the only one having these issues with the office, even though they kept occurring. It's disappointing because Dr. Mitchell is a great dentist. Sadly, the ongoing problems with the front office and billing have outweighed the quality of the dental care for my family. I'll be relieved once this final bill is paid and we can move on.

After reading Acworth Dental's lowest google review from 4 years ago by Caitlin Conn, it was like Deja vu. My wife and I moved to the Governors Towne Club in Feb 2023 and after settling into the community we eventually began to select businesses and various medical and dental practices to serve our family needs. We landed on Acworth Dental and Dr. Daniel Lee for routine cleanings. My wife is fortunate enough to have little or no issues with her teeth. On the other hand, I have had a few fillings, a root canal and a few crowns along the way. I have been lucky enough to have had excellent dentists who have provided what I have considered only necessary and quality dental work. After reading the biology professor's, review of Acworth Dental I felt a very uncomfortable feeling come over me. I had the same experience of Dr. Lee putting a "watch" on a tooth. The next thing I know he recommends drilling out an old filling and crowning the tooth. The drilling went on for hours. And I left with a temporary that lasted for a day. I returned and they reinstalled the temporary. If I had researched Dr. Lee's reviews (Caitlin Conn's) I would have gotten a second opinion prior to allowing Dr Lee to crown my tooth. Dr. Lee took x-rays and pictures of my tooth to give me confidence that the crown was necessary. I am the type of person who confides in a healthcare provider until I feel I have a reason not to. Dr. Lee stated prior to starting the procedure that I had a "Hairline crack" in the identified tooth he had been "watching". He never mentioned or recommended having a 3-D CT Scan of the tooth to confirm the severity of the crack in my tooth. Since I obviously have no dental training, I had no idea that there was another type of X-ray available that Dr Lee had not and could not provide because he did not possess the proper equipment until after the procedure of drilling out my tooth and installing a ~$1,500.00 crown. After returning home from Acworth Dental and the numbing wearing off, I immediately felt sensitivity to cold water. Hoping it would eventually improve, I waited a couple of days before calling back for advice. Dr. Lee had his assistant recommend I go to an Endodontist outside of his practice for. 3-D Scan to determine if the tooth was cracked all the way through. I was horrified to say the least to find that he had drilled away a significant part of a tooth as well as left a sharp edge on an adjacent tooth with a gold crown without first confirming the full condition of the tooth. I was also told that the 3-D scan would reveal to the Endodontist whether or not the tooth was cracked beyond repair and identify if it would require a Root Canal or Extraction. I called the Endodontist to inquire about the cost and to make an appointment. They quoted over $300.00. I decided that before spending an additional $300+ on my newly crowned tooth, that I would speak with Dr. Lee at Acworth Dental to confirm that he would refund or apply the $1,500.00 I had just spent with him a week or two before, to the remedy cost of a Root Canal or Extraction and Implant if was so deemed necessary by the Endodontist. Each remedy procedure would be in great excess of the $1,500.00 I had already spent. When I sat down with Dr.Lee yesterday to discuss his decision not to conduct a 3-D Scan of my cracked tooth prior to the Crowning procedure he said he didn't normally do that. "Not the right answer" by my standards. I asked why he recommended it after the fact, and then he reversed his recommendation and stated he didn't think it was necessary and I would be wasting $300.00. I asked him if I had the 3-D CT Scan, and it was determined that the tooth required one of the aforementioned procedures to remedy the situation, would he refund or apply the $1,500 already paid. I believe he gambled with my tooth and pocket book to ensure I bought a crown. He stated he would NOT refund and he had to pay "his girls", lab, supplies etc. the most he would agree to do wold be a $300 Extraction if necessary in less than one year. That's only 20% of what I have already spent. It is my understanding that this practice does crowns "all day long every day"!

Unfortunately dealing with the owner, Carl Edge has not been as good of an experience. After researching my out of pocket with my insurance carrier for a crown, I was informed by Edge to pay more than my insurance company told me I would have to pay. When I disputed and asked for Edge to run it through the insurance first and bill me the balance, the office manager refused my request. I asked for it to be escalated to Carl Edge who reluctantly allowed this but not before explicitly telling me he trusted his folks and process more than me. A great thing to tell a customer who had been going to his practice for a few years with no incidents and no issues with payment. I was treated like a deadbeat by Edge. Anyway, after arriving for a cleaning today, I was told I needed to take 4 of their pills without any description of what drug they were giving to me because of not having a written release from my Dr due to a shoulder replacement from a couple of years ago. That made it easy for me to leave this practice because they are so afraid of getting taken by customers, they assumed I was one who would do it as well. After writing this review, they were right.

During the visit, I was evaluated and referred toward oral surgery, reinforcing the decision to proceed with extraction rather than exploring ways to preserve the tooth. Concerned about making an irreversible decision, I sought a second opinion. Another provider evaluated the case properly and recommended retreatment instead of extraction. I followed that plan, and the tooth is now improving significantly. Based on this outcome, I believe the original recommendation was unnecessarily aggressive and premature. I have been going to West Cobb Dentistry for 3 plus years since moving out to Georgia from California. I miss Dr. Chase Hall but the new dentist they brought on, Dr. Couk is fantastic. You can tell he has extensive experience and is very knowledgeable. He will go in depth what your symptoms are, root cause of the problem. Then he will lay out remedies and options for you. Unlike some dentists that try to sell you more services and products, he is looking out for your best interest. Believe me, I have had a dentist try to sell me a teeth guard that costs several hundred dollars telling me I can lift more weights! And of course, the staff here is magnificent! Even if you have dental insurance, unfortunately the cost of getting dental treatment is not cheap. I have had to get two crowns so far and Kellie Guffin has been very helpful with the process. I think being informed and knowing what the cost impact is going to be is very important. And I must add that the hygienists are very thorough and gentle. For the world of me I could not get my husband to get his teeth cleaned as he does not like going to the dentist but I "tricked" him to going and got help from the staff No need to say he booked his next teeth cleaning appointment. I was able to use my insurance as well so my actual out of pocket was just over $100. While at Kennesaw Mountain they told me I needed two crowns for the two root canals I had done at the Endo. The Endo recommended a crown and a filling, (one tooth was cracked), Kennesaw Mountain Dental Associates told me I actually needed two crowns to the tune of almost $3,000. Come to find out I didn't actually need two crowns. The recommendation from the Endo was correct, all I needed was a crown and a filling this is after both dentists at my new dentist looked at the root canals done by my Endo. So in addition to being rude and lazy, they are also trying to over charge by pushing unnecessary dental procedures. Be very careful if you visit Kennesaw Mountain Dental Associates. Make sure you reach out to your insurer prior to your visit and check your coverage or they may try what they tried with me and tell you that you don't have coverage. Also if they recommend a procedure don't hesitate to hit pause, take few days and get a second opinion. It could save you thousands of dollars.
