First time visiting the disco spinning, Brooklyn Dumpling Shop. Gave this spot a try because the idea of Korean fusion sounded interesting, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Great music playlist, great food, and excellent portions for the price points. Combo pricing ($10-15) is much closer to a traditional quick service restaurant, but way better vibes than a simple National chain you can find on every street. A lot of options for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free audiences. I saw several folks enjoying the boba as well. Would definitely try one of their bowls (Korean spice or Firecracker) again! I was really excited to try this place since I've been craving dumplings and saw it getting a lot of attention, including from THE Keith Lee. I went in with pretty high expectations, especially knowing they do more fusion-style flavors. I got the $10 tester where you pick two flavors and get a few of each. I chose the fried duck dumplings and the boiled wagyu dumplings. The fried duck dumplings leaned way too sweet for me. The sauce completely took over and I couldn't really taste much duck at all. It ended up tasting more like sugary glaze than anything savory or rich. The wagyu dumplings had the opposite issue. They were pretty light on filling, so the flavor didn't really come through. It's one of those cases where the wrapper outweighs what's inside, so you're mostly tasting dough unless you dip it heavily in sauce. Speaking of sauce, you only get one included and the rest cost extra. I tried the hot oil, but it wasn't actually spicy. It had more of an oily, slightly garlicky flavor without much heat or depth, so it didn't really help bring the dumplings to life. The space itself is small and has a nice, casual feel, but it wasn't very busy when I went. There were only a couple of staff working, and it did feel a bit understaffed. There was some mess around the dining area, which took away from the experience a bit, though it seemed more like they just didn't have enough hands on deck. Food did take a little while, but it at least came out fresh. They also have a takeout window, which seems like a convenient option if you're just grabbing something quick. Overall, I think the concept is interesting, but the execution didn't quite land for me. A bit pricey for what you get, and the flavors didn't really hit the mark. Might work better if you're specifically looking for more fusion-style dumplings, but it wasn't what I was hoping for. read more

Such a great quick and easy spot in the city. The first time I visited I did pick up and my order was ready within a few minutes, and they have these fun pickup lockers to self-serve. Went to the Brooklyn Dumpling Shop on Sansom St late at night on a Saturday. It's really nice that this place stays open so late for the drunk crowd. We ordered the Orange Ginger Tempura Bites. The order came out really quickly. I really liked the scallions that came with the bites of chicken. The orange sauce on this tempura batter made each bite very delicious. I snuck into BDS amidst a grande opening event. I've heard many good things about this shop and the sister store on South St and decided to take the plunge. ENVIRONMENT For some reason, I've always felt cramped in all the restaurants and stores that align this particular hundredth of Sansom Street. However, I must say BDS uses the space wisely and it's didn't feel too tiny. Despite the festive "chic" styling of the store it still felt approachable in the manner of comfort food. FOOD I'll admit I had low expectations for the food. However, the dumplings were both succulent and rich with flavor. I tried the chicken Parmesan dumplings which did not disappoint. In closing, this is a much needed restaurant in the late night scene(which post COVID had been deplorable for acquiring food). Happy eats! read more

service-less and bare bone spot with mediocre food. definitely not the place to go for anything authentic. my friends and i stopped by on national burger day (5/28) for their BOGO burger deal. i was drawn in by the BOGO, but i definitely would not come back on a normal day. i MIGHT consider coming back next year for the burger BOGO again, but it was honestly disappointing. the burger was tiny, sad, and the buns were weirdly greasy. the patty was the thinnest patty i've ever seen, and they also somehow got all of our orders wrong. i guess they weren't honoring any modifications... my friends also ordered the smashed apple pie dumplings which were mediocre at best. the dough was thick and dry, the filling was decent. overall, this spot just feels very cold and unwelcoming. you order on a tablet and pick up the order from a window. there are no workers you can talk to, we didn't even know who we'd talk to to get our orders corrected. there are a decent amount of seats, but the tables are shared and the chairs are incredibly uncomfortable. i most likely won't be back, i have no desire to try anything else on the menu. even after 2 burgers, we were still hungry and ended up at popeyes. read more

A friend and I stumbled across Brooklyn Dumpling Shop on a Friday night after having drinks at a restaurant down the street. It was late so we were pleasantly surprised they were going to be open until 2 am! We ordered on the touchscreen (easy) and waited about 5 min for our order to be ready. They can put it in a locker where you can use a code to open it and retrieve your food (fancy), or there was also an employee brining orders as they were ready directly to people. The bok choi and ginger seared dumplings I got were so delicious and I really liked the teriyaki sauce. We also got the apple pie dumplings for dessert (they were doing a pi day special price) and the 3 apple filled dumplings with side of ice cream were soooo good. Walk don't run! If you are looking for a pretty quick bite to eat look no further. We got the fried chicken sandwich, korean bbq dumplings, wagyu beef dumplings and pork dumpling soup. While we were eating, the Latino and Caucasian employees were replaying an instagram video of someone singing the N word. We felt offended and concerned once we heard it repeatedly. I ordered the wagyu beef potstickers (crispy) & a smoked Korean bbq bowl with rice & kimchi. The flavor profile of everything is really good. The potstickers were simple & classic with a great crisp. Not at all greasy or flavorless. The Korean bbq bowl had great flavor, however... the amount of actual beef you get is crazy. It was very little beef. Granted, it's shredded, but if they could make the shreds a little chunkier to complement the sauce and the amount of rice, I believe I would order that again!
