Came into Brooklyn in the early morning around 7am for a business conference and had breakfast. A lot of great dinner reviews, but I didn't see much about breakfast so I gave it a try. What a cozy corner spot! The Southern Skillet was packed with flavor and they make great cappuccinos! The spice of the sausage in combination with little mini quesadillas along with the typical potatoes and eggs really made the dish. Great service and presentation of food as well. The server was very kind and engaged with me in conversation about my morning and travel. She even went out of her way to bring over some spicy sauces in case I wanted more heat in the flavor. Easy walking distance from Marriott Brooklyn Bridge and relatively close to Downtown Manhattan. I can't wait to come back and try out dinner. Great experience and I totally recommend. read more

Don't enter this place it unbelievable expansive, bad and very slow service and low quality food! We ordered cup of tea with a cheesecake, it took ages to arrive (35 min.) we attend the waiters several times, however every time we try to get a response if we had a luck we got an unprofessional answer, a long while after we ordered it arrived, heavy, simple supermarket cheesecake the bad part was the unbelievable price of $12.50 for one slice of cheesecake! A group of eight of us stopped in for Sunday brunch. It was a nightmare! We were seated quickly and courteously and the place had great ambience. Full stop. The train promptly went off the tracks. We were given lunch menus even though lunch was not being served, which we learned when we asked if we could still order breakfast. Elapsed time to get the correct menus? About 10 minutes. It took another 10 minutes to catch our waitress to put our order in, which included coffees of course. We sat there for another 10 to 15 minutes for the coffee to arrive. We had been there about a half an hour. Food started to arrive in another 10 minutes or so, but only for 3 of us. Another 2 meals arrived about 10 minutes later, one of which was wrong. By the time we all had meals we were almost an hour in. Three of four egg skillet dishes were served cold. A family that arrived just after us walked out after ordering and receiving nothing after 20 minutes. We asked to speak with the manager. She apologized noting they had only been open a week and were working out the bugs. So, apparently, that's my problem. I would not open if I was this "not ready"! We stopped in here after having 4 starving kids as a need for food ! The menu has many choices for picky eaters and are accommodating for food allergies . I had the Greek salad which was very delicious , the kids ordered wings and Mac n cheese which were equally as delicious . Quick service and pleasant employees and reasonably priced ! I've gone to Brooklyn Bistro many times before. My boyfriend has honestly never liked Brooklyn Bistro or the servers that are employed there. It's been evident to him for a while, they hate their jobs. I, on the other hand felt like everyone had their days. Fast forward to today. I had a dear friend of mine come to visit me with her children and told her about this cute little spot where we could grab a little brunch. We were all excited. We walked in and it looked a little decent but there was a FREE table for 6 right in the window. Our children went to the table and the hostess walks up to us hands out and said "we're not seating anyone right now" I looked around and saw that there weren't many tables full but figured maybe due to covid, the protocols had changed, fine. I replied and asked "so, about how long" she said "i have no idea". Even the highest level of dining in the city, has at least a time limit to be told about. The people gave nothing but dirty looks and disrespectful attitude. The micro aggressions are huge and I know a racist establishment when I see it. The way they looked at us, the way we were treated was disgusting. This is a very tumultuous time for everyone and being kind, respectful and not racist isn't hard. To give your money to place that has no sort of genuine care for children or their guests of other complexions is what I won't ever do. If you have happy children or are a person of color expect nasty looks and no idea when a table will be ready for you. read more

It's really a diner more than a bistro (it even says so on the check you get at the end of the meal...), but it's in our neighborhood, and you can go down for brunch, lunch, dinner, or just a cup of coffee. I've been here twice. The first time I had breakfast: an omelette, home fries, toast, and coffee. The omelette and home fries were standard, the toast tasted like it was stale bread that had been toasted, and the coffee was...strange. $5 for a normal cup of coffee and no matter how much milk I added, it didn't get any lighter in color. I've never experienced anything like it. The second time I went, I had lunch: a smoked mozzarella sandwich and French fries. Overall, it was okay, however the cheese was just sliced cheese where I was expecting something more. The bread was just ok. The fries were standard. I want to like this place because I live in the area and there's not much else so close by. The waitstaff is friendly but doesn't really seem to "get it". It seems like they've had little training and are just winging it. I'm hoping that someone from the establishment reads this review and can implement some changes. This place have a great atmosphere, with it's rustic look makes it feel so inviting, and with the Christmas tree up makes feel likehime. The goal every trip is to try local places. This was not my first choice. However, it said they served breakfast and that's what I was looking for. Unfortunately, they were no longer serving that, but had some breakfast items. I ordered a hamburger well done. I had a hamburger medium raw.... I mean it was bleeding on my plate! My mom and sister ordered the grits and it was the most disgusting thing ever. My friends ordered salad and they mixed it up. Kind of pissed right now.. my friend had to use the restroom REALLY BADLY after walking the Brooklyn bridge, so we ran to the nearest restaurant possible. This place was completely empty, and we decided to order a drink so that my friend could use the restroom. When we ordered a Coke we said that's all we would like to get, and he looked at us weirdly and said "you're going to order food also... right?". We were basically forced to order a salad and when we paid he gave himself an 18% gratuity fee. There was literally two other guys in the restaurant that were only drinking beer and they weren't being bothered to order at all. THENNN another group of girls walked in and only bought a water bottle, and they weren't forced to give gratuity and used the restrooms as well then left. I have never encountered such unfriendly, condescending staff. 4 sandwiches, 1 plate of pasta, 1 bottle of $38 wine from Chile and two expressos came to $153.00 and THEY added a $38 tip making the entire bill $192.00. A TOTAL rip-off. I had made up my mind to add ZERO tip and when the bill came they had included it anyway, and then had the gall to leave place for additional tip on the credit card slip!
