Finally, I have to interrupt and I ask if there are tellers to help me. I get the response "He just stepped out, he'll be right back." What? I've never seen this before. This is a SERVICE industry. It's like walking into a supermarket and being told to wait around for the cashier to show up. I wait another two -three minutes. Nothing. No acknowledgement, No teller, nothing. It's been over 5 minutes of waiting to do a simple deposit, and the branch is not busy. I finally ask the person at the desk again, in a calm tone "Do you know when "right back" is? Because I don't have all day to wait around for them to decide to come back." This time the response is "He's on break." BREAK? Again, this is a service industry. A bank. You have coverage...or there is no break! It's also a Saturday, they're open 9-1. So now the customer, who is seated and chatting with the person at the desk, chimes in and basically tells me to stop complaining. When he finally leaves, several minutes later, he offered a few hostile words. Ya. This happened. I walked into a bank, in order to hand a transaction over to a teller, and leave. There was no line, it should have taken a minute, tops. But I was instead made to feel like I was outrageous for even asking why there was no teller. Seriously, this bank needs to train better in customer service.
