Excellent experience. I had used them years ago to have a duplicate key fob made on a used car I bought, so I knew who to go to when my current car's fob started acting up. The dealer wanted nearly $400 just to give me a new fob and program it -- and it's an older minivan, not some fancy Mercedes or something LOL! I saved a great deal of money going to Brookhaven Locksmith. While I still wouldn't say it was cheap, it was literally about half the price. They also said they would have programmed the cheap "blank" I had bought on Amazon and brought with me, but I decided I'd rather just have the whole thing done and done right and not risk having more problems because of the unknown quality of what I bought. It's already been a hassle with it not working properly for the last year. Well now, it's working like new again. They were friendly and quick to do the job (I also happened to go in when they weren't super busy). VERY UNHAPPY! I just wasted $108 that I really didn't have to begin with. I called this place about 2 weeks ago, I told them I needed a key programmed for my truck. They asked if it was a push to start vehicle I said YES. I was told to go onto amazon and get replacement keys because it would be cheaper that way. I did. I got the keys in and went down to this location today. They programmed my key. ONLY AFTER they programmed my key was I informed that I got the wrong key and it would not start my vehicle unless I took out the push button start. I WAS NEVER INFORMED about this prior! They should have told me about in the first initial phone call! And they should have told me this when I walked in today! BEFORE THEY TOUCHED MY VEHICLE! But no word was ever spoken about having a special key to be used to work the push to start or the door handles. I will NOT be back here. This is just bad business. You NEED to inform your customers about the push to start vehicle keys! You NEED to practice better business! They wouldn't even give me a small discount and yet they saw I was UNHAPPY AND UPSET that I was never told this. I even argued with the older woman there that I was never told any of this. All she said was "You're supposed to know what you need". I NEVER had to do this before! I DON'T KNOW! Okay? That is part of YOUR job to tell me that I needed a special key for the PTS Ignition. That's not my job to know this as a customer! I should have just gone to the dealer to have it done CORRECTLY the FIRST time and spent less money in the long run. But I wasted $108 and I STILL have to go to the dealer to have this problem fixed correctly! What a waste of time and money. Did I mention I am also out $27 from amazon where I bought the keys? Yes I am. So in total I wasted $135. Thank you so much for not being upfront and honest with your customers when they ask you specific questions. You could have told me during that first phone call when I TOLD YOU I had PTS, that I would need a special key for my PTS, but you DIDN'T! Before you even touched my vehicle, you could have told me that I needed a special key for my PTS vehicle, but you also DIDN'T! Before you even touched my vehicle you should have ASKED if it was push to start, but you also DIDN'T! All you wanted was MONEY! And you didn't care how you got it! Thank you for raping your customers of their hard earned money because you can't be up front and honest about things. You removed all liability by saying "it's not guaranteed to work". Bad business! I don't blame the young man who worked on my vehicle, he must have been in training and didn't know better. But he also SHOULD have asked questions when he saw it was a push to start. I also forgot to ask for a receipt, but I was NEVER offered one either before I left. They should have asked me if I wanted a receipt, regardless of how I paid. (I paid cash). Even if I wanted to fight for my money back, or at least a portion of it, i have ZERO proof of purchase since they NEVER gave me a receipt. I sat outside for a few minutes, my truck was right in front of the windows, they could have also came out and said 'here's your receipt, you left without it' NOTHING. This company REMOVES themselves from ANY AND ALL liability in any way that they can. I will NEVER be returning here again. I will NEVER go to any Brookhaven Locksmith ever. Requested a flat car key be duplicated. Even supplied my own blank. Found it very outrageous they charged me $50.00 plus tax to cut the key on a bench top machine which took all of 5 minutes. Total rip off and would never go back there. read more

Went here to have a key made- not very welcoming but whatever got the key made it was the wrong key went back the staff attempted to fix it for about five minutes and then told me to buy a new lock. Staff could have been more friendly, more helpful but did bare minimal - if that. Won't be going back there for anything. It took 3 employees to not help me. If I could give zero stars, I'd prefer that. I made an appointment for Wednesday afternoon for a four hour period, when a half hour was left, I called and they said sorry, we're backed up, let's reschedule. Then they said, "Wait, you're not even on the schedule for today." I rescheduled for the following day, again a four hour period, from 10-2, but I told them I have a meeting at 2, to please make sure he gets here in plenty of time since they told me the job I needed done (several locks and pads updated and changed) would be a few hours. I called at 1 and they said first, "He's on his way." Then, after being rude, "You're wasting time. Do you want me to send him or not?" So he wasn't even on his way. They are more than 30 minutes away, so he wouldn't have arrived in time to complete the job before my meeting, as I specifically told them. I spent a total of 7.5 hours waiting for them over two days without having my locks fixed. Forget these guys. They were completely unreliable, unprofessional, and utterly mean and rude. read more

Had to have a car key cut and programed. This place was the cheapest by far in the area, only $45. Compared to dealerships and other locksmiths who were asking around $100-200. They were really quick about it too, think it took all of 15 minutes. Had some serious professional safes and what not in the store, looked as though they could handle pretty much anything when it came to your lock and key needs. My parents gave my son their old car. There was only one key and after 12 years of use, it was worn but it still worked, although you had to jiggle it a little. Still, we wanted the security of having additional keys available in case the original got lost and just to have a spare available regardless. Being one of "chipped" ignition keys, our only option was either go to the dealer and pay dealer prices, or, a locksmith. Their staff noted the condition of the original and I understood that if they made an exact duplicate off of the only key that I had, it would be just that, a duplicate. It would probably still have to be jiggled to turn the cylinders in the doors and the ignition. Matthew looked at the worn original and started spitting out and writing down a bunch of numbers. Based on that, they cut a "practice" key, which was a simple, cheap, non-chipped key that would work the door lock only. It was obvious that he was not a novice at the trade. It was on the money and from that, they cut the chipped keys for the ignition. They made me duplicate keys that worked better than the originals. read more

We bought a house alarm from Brookhaven Locksmith 3 years ago. They did a great job installing the alarm. However the alarm stopped working properly 3 months ago. We called Brookhaven for service and they told us the person that services the alarms is away until February and we need to wait until then. So we waited 2 months for him to return. We had to bypass several zones when arming the alarm when we went to work. We finally made the appointment and the man came to do the repair. It seemed as though everything was repaired until a few hours later the alarm was not working properly again. We had paid for the service call. My husband called the store and they gave us an appointment for the following Monday. We called them 3 times to find out when they were expected to come by. They said don't worry he's coming by. They couldn't give us a time. We were 3rd on the list. We are working people but we stayed home all day for this appointment. It was a holiday so we were off and stayed home all day to wait. They never confirmed or told us a time the man would be coming. They just said he will be there after his next two appointments. So we waited. It's now 4:15 and the 4th call made. The person at the store named Chris ( there are several people that work there by the same name)said he didn't know anything about the issue. He put me on hold for 10 minutes then the phone went dead. I called back again and spoke to another person and explained that we were home all day waiting for the repair man. He said to me that the repair can be made over the phone and no one needs to come by. I admit that I got angry at that point. If the repair can be made over the phone then why did they give us an appointment and we had to wait all day at home? Why didn't they tell us that the 3 times before when we called to find out when the man will come by? They never said the issue can be made over the phone. The men at the store were not very nice and no one knows what the other one is doing. Too many cooks stirring the pot.They are very nice before you sign a contract but the customer service for repairs after the the fact need to be worked on. Once they have your money they don't put any effort in helping you if there's an issue. I'm all for small business. In fact that's what I prefer but Brookhaven Locksmiths missed the mark on customer service. The repair man called us from the road and walked my husband through to push different buttons on the alarm. At 4:45. Why couldn't they do that from the beginning instead of giving us all this stress? We don't know if the repair will hold because this happened last week. It was repaired then it didn't work a few hours later. They sold us a lemon is my feeling. The alarm that we had before this one lasted 20 years without any issues until the very end. We didn't buy it from Brookhaven Locksmiths. Be careful when buying a house alarm from Brookhaven Locksmiths. The customer service after the fact is not good at all. Once they have your money you're not important to them. There something to be said about the larger home alarm company's out there. I think they would have handled this in a much better manor than Brookhaven Locksmiths. read more

My last interaction with this vendor was less than spectacular. I was quoted $12.50 to rekey a cylinder which includes 2 keys. I brought in 5 cylinders and expected 10 keys. I was given only 2 keys because I requested the 5 cylinders have the same key. I spoke to Chris and asked why was I charged full price and only given two keys. He stated,"thats just the way it is.." I called another locksmith to see if this was a norm, and its not. I would have received 10 keys, exactly what I paid for. Shame...... read more

I called BLS at three thirty a.m. Sunday morning, because i had locked my house and car keys in the car, IN MY DRIVEWAY!!! Ugh! I definately woke the young man up who answered the phone, yet he was informative, patient and kind. (Certainly a far cry from how i might be, roused from my bed at near dawn on Sunday!) The young man explained that the office would be open on Monday, but as i had to pick up my sister from the train Sunday, i would need the emergency service. He then said he would be to my home in 20 minutes. He was prompt, professional, and very quick to open my car door and allow me to retrieve my forgotten keys. I stupidly locked myself out of my house on the 4th of July with my cell phone in the house. Of course it was the holiday. I hoped I could find someone to help, but honestly doubted it. I rejected breaking a window to get in, and went to a neighbor's house and called Brookhaven Locksmiths. I was so relieved to hear a cheerful voice responding to emergency service. Within 20 minutes the locksmith arrived and in short order I was back in my house. The locksmith was professional and competent. Let me start of first saying I liked this place. And I am not sure what happened on last trip here on 4/3/15. I went there in need to have some keys cut. One was for a Chip less Blank key that I had purchased directly from Subaru. After he made a small cut into my new blank he told the other guy that it was safe. When the one side was almost finished the same guy who originally said that the key was safe to cut decided that he did not like the way it sounded? So he said only cut the one side. I told him that it would not work and that both sides need to be cut and that the key is useless now and that I cannot even return it and get my money back. He told me that he did not want to mess up his $150 blade. I reminded him that you had said that it was safe. He then told the other tech. Fine to finish his precious key and do the other side. Then when he first wanted to charge me $50 I was like are you insane. That is when he told me fine $10 to cut one key; thinking I never paid anywhere close to that here before even with them supplying a key. I put the other four keys I was going to have done back into my pocket. I then told him that word of mouth is very powerful. He was like whatever who cares and was still going on about his key cutting machine; this is when the tech that cut my key told him to stop. So here I am telling my story about my poor experience getting over charged for having one key cut along with a side order of attitude and maintaining his belief on my cheap fake imitation key. Well I guess this is what happens in the end to this repeating customer he shares his experience and will no longer do business their again. read more

I went to the business this morning in order to obtain car photos for insurance purposes. The two men working in the store initially ignored me standing at the counter and answered several phone calls while I waited. when the phone calls were finished and spoke up and asked for assistance. I was told to "wait my turn". I said that there was no one else at the counter and then then one of the men proceeded to scream at me. I did not appreciate being bullied and verbally abused and would not suggest that you allow someone who engages in abusive behavior towards women near your family or property. read more

I lost my keys to my Audi and of course left the spare set inside the car. Before having Brookhaven Locksmiths come out, AAA sent someone from another company which I'm not going to name since my experience with them wasn't stellar. The previous company tripped the deadlock, so there was no way to actually open the car without getting at the remote to disarm it. The guy who came out from Brookhaven Locksmiths did absolutely everything in his power to get the car open for me, kept trying way longer than I even expected, and went out of his way to answer any questions I had about other options. Had I called them FIRST, I can guarantee my car would be open right now. Although we weren't able to get it open due to the car deadlocking itself before he came, I would recommend them to anyone who needs any type of locksmith service done.
