I've been using Competition Locksmith for the past year and a half, and I truly can't recommend Lenny and his team enough. Lenny first came to change the locks on my dad's co-op after my father passed away and we were preparing to sell the unit. I explained to him that we had an unstable family member who used to stay with my dad and might try to break in. Lenny not only added an extra security lock, but also advised me to leave a note in the window so other locksmiths would think twice if that family member attempted to gain access with their help. Sure enough, that family member did try to break in and change the locks -- but thankfully, they had called Lenny. I don't know that I can say enough good things about this company. I needed a locksmith by the end of the day to assist in getting my business locked. After calling a different company who came, unlocked my door, wouldn't help relock it before leaving us with an open door and no information. I called Competition Locksmith and spoke to Lenny. He asked questions to understand what I needed and even asked for photos of the door and the lock before he dispatched someone. Lenny, the owner of the company, responded within 10 minutes and let me know that he could be at our home first thing in the morning. I found this company on Groupon. So the first thing I did was checked YELP. Yelp only had 2 reviews so I decided to take a chance and give the company a call. I'm glad I did. I spoke with Lenny the owner of Competition Locksmith, he gave me a free estimate over the phone which was really awesome because all I had to do was send him a picture via text of what I needed done, within minutes I had a quote. Before calling Competition Locksmith I called other locksmith in the area for an estimate and they were a little cheaper but needed to come out to see the work to actually give you an accurate quote. With the Groupon that Competition Locksmith has to offer it comes out the same price as the others. After speaking with Lenny I decided to give his company a try. He also offered me a same day appointment which was good. The original appointment time got rescheduled just a few hours later to work around both of our schedules which was understandable. I can only speak for Competition Locksmith that I received good quality services, can't say the same for the others. Lenny arrived on time and got to work. He explained to me about the new lock he was installing. He even tighten up another lock in my house "free of charge". And did I mention they also offer a warranty on their services. Don't quote me but I believe it's for 45 days from date of service. Where do I begin so that you can understand the depth of Competition Locksmith's dedication to its customers? I will start at the beginning. There was a security situation, which was causing a muck in our neighborhood. In order to ensure our family's safety we needed to upgrade all the locks in our home. At the same time that we were dealing with securing our home, our nation went on lockdown because of a pandemic that had us all in a panic. For us it was a double whammy. I called several locksmiths in my area, left numerous messages, spoke to some who promised to get back to me but never did and others who thought it was important to inform me that we were in a pandemic (as though I had no idea). Then I called Lenny at Competition Locksmith. I explained our situation to Lenny and the urgency we were experiencing to secure our home, and he listened. He explained what we needed to do. He didn't avoid our need in order to keep himself safe, but rather he made provisions to communicate and look at our needs and assess our situation through text. I sent him pictures of what needed to be replaced and he sent me pictures of various replacements that would more than adequately satisfy the job. We agreed on a price, which by the way was less than any other that I was quoted, and within hours deadbolt holes were drilled and locks - 5 in total were replaced! All with social distancing precautions in place and with absolutely no clean up necessary on our part. Gary, Lenny's installer was kind and courteous and extremely professional. He was experienced, efficient and quick! Moreover, a few days had passed and after acquainting ourselves with the products we purchased, we had some specific questions about what we chose. I came home from a long day Memorial Day to find myself and my sister who is a blind adult with special needs, locked out of my home. Something was wrong with my lock and we could not gain entry. I called another locksmith and did not receive an answer so scrolled down and found Competition. I was given a price over the phone and an estimated arrival time. Lenny arrived and was very pleasant and very professional. He had to drill out and replace my doorknob and bolt. Before arriving he knew I was paying cash. I mention this because anyone I have ever dealt with will usually not charge tax or drop price a bit if receiving cash. Not Lenny. Not only was I charged tax, but the original price quoted was increased by $200. When I questioned why he charged me an additional $200 for a doorknob and a dead bolt he said that's what they cost "installed". I was very upset and he knew it, but made no attempt to lower his price. Instead he offered to accept a credit card, or half cash and half credit. I was very upset. Did he do a good job? Yes. But I feel very taken advantage of. Prior to writing out the bill, I had just finished telling him I do not have a job and that I was using my Dads money to pay. Lenny you asked for my recommendation, so here it is. You may show up, you may get the job done, but your integrity may need to be checked.
