I've been using Competition Locksmith for the past year and a half, and I truly can't recommend Lenny and his team enough. Lenny first came to change the locks on my dad's co-op after my father passed away and we were preparing to sell the unit. I explained to him that we had an unstable family member who used to stay with my dad and might try to break in. Lenny not only added an extra security lock, but also advised me to leave a note in the window so other locksmiths would think twice if that family member attempted to gain access with their help. Sure enough, that family member did try to break in and change the locks -- but thankfully, they had called Lenny. He immediately recognized the co-op, remembered working with me, and gave me a heads-up. Once he realized what was going on, he refused to do the job. I really respected his integrity. Later, once the family member was evicted, Lenny was incredibly supportive and flexible as I navigated the next steps. He understood I wouldn't have much notice and worked with me to re-secure the co-op as soon as possible. Throughout a very difficult and emotionally charged time, Lenny was professional, kind, and dependable. I'm truly grateful for his support, and he'll continue to be my go-to locksmith. read more

Used Competition Locksmith twice. First time was an emergency lockout with a malfunctioning keypad lock (installed by myself)! I then used this locksmith another time, because I was impressed with the quality of his work for the price I paid. read more

Lenny answered the phone when I called. He listened carefully to my problem with a broken front door thumb depressor. He understood right away and said he could fix it that day!! I sent him pictures as requested so that he could see the specific door handle assembly. Sure enough, he arrived with the part in hand and installed it perfectly. He is friendly, knowledgeable, experienced and expert in his art. And he arrived when promised. He was able to tell me in advance what the cost would be. AMAZING. I have dealt with many contractors and service providers in my day. Lenny is the BEST LOCKSMITH ever!! DO NOT call the big guys...I've used them too, but they can have some nasty attitudes and forget them for friendly service. Use Lenny!! read more

I don't know that I can say enough good things about this company. I needed a locksmith by the end of the day to assist in getting my business locked. After calling a different company who came, unlocked my door, wouldn't help relock it before leaving us with an open door and no information. I called Competition Locksmith and spoke to Lenny. He asked questions to understand what I needed and even asked for photos of the door and the lock before he dispatched someone. He was unable to make it to us before we closed, so he sent two of his guys. They were friendly professional and knowledgeable. They took the mechanism out worked on it and got it to lock and close. They said it would need to be replaced but got it working in the meantime. After they left Lenny called me and I provided payment. He then sent me a quote for the piece I needed. We had guys at our business within 2 hours of our initial call and we were locked tight and ready to close for the night right on time. Thank you to everyone who helped us! You guys are amazing and I will be calling again anytime I need a locksmith. read more

Definitely recommend Competition. I called Lenny when another company was a no show. He came same day and even texted me 25 minutes prior to his arrival. He was fast and did a good job (as much as I know about locks). Very happy with my deadbolt lock. Personable, professional, good old fashioned customer service. Would definitely use him again. read more

Lenny is excellent at his trait. He responds almost immediately, he's extremely dependable, friendly and honest.

Fantastic service from Competition Locksmith! Had to have a storage unit lock cut, called in and was scheduled for an appointment right away. 20 minutes later they were already on site! Very fast & reliable service. Highly recommend (they're available throughout Long Island). read more

After reading excellent Yelp and Google reviews, I contacted Competition Locksmith this Friday evening when we discovered that we could not lock our exterior Andersen double door. Lenny, the owner of the company, responded within 10 minutes and let me know that he could be at our home first thing in the morning. I appreciated that he was was straightforward with his service fee and terms of service. As promised, Lenny contacted me at 8:45 am to let me know when he would arrive and he was here on time! Lenny quickly determined the issue, explained what was wrong and proceeded to fixed the door so that it not only locked but closed smoothly. He worked efficiently and carefully and took the time to make sure the door locked well before finishing up the job. Lenny is an excellent locksmith. It is my opinion (I've live in the area for almost 50 years and have dealt with many different service providers during that time) that Lenny is a very competent, professional and honest business owner who wants to make a positive impression on customers. He is also extremely friendly and very easy to work with. From this time forward, I will only use Lenny as my locksmith and I highly recommend Competition Locksmiths to others in need of this service. read more

Called on Saturday night to ask about availability and was able to make an appointment for the next morning. He showed up on time, was helpful, friendly, and fast. Answered any questions I had, waited for me to confirm everything was working on my end (it was a smart lock install so required app setup as well) and made some suggestions as to how I could get the most out of it. It wasn't cheap, but the service was excellent and I'd recommend it. read more

Lenny the Locksmith rocks. I called on the afternoon before Thanksgiving and left a message. Lenny texted me back within minutes. He scheduled a convenient time, showed up when promised, and kept me well informed throughout. Plus he used texting and photos to improve communication. For example, he sent me a photo of where he left the new keys. Nice, honest guy. Super easy to work with. Highly recommend. read more

I found this company on Groupon. So the first thing I did was checked YELP. Yelp only had 2 reviews so I decided to take a chance and give the company a call. I'm glad I did. I spoke with Lenny the owner of Competition Locksmith, he gave me a free estimate over the phone which was really awesome because all I had to do was send him a picture via text of what I needed done, within minutes I had a quote. Before calling Competition Locksmith I called other locksmith in the area for an estimate and they were a little cheaper but needed to come out to see the work to actually give you an accurate quote. With the Groupon that Competition Locksmith has to offer it comes out the same price as the others. After speaking with Lenny I decided to give his company a try. He also offered me a same day appointment which was good. The original appointment time got rescheduled just a few hours later to work around both of our schedules which was understandable. I can only speak for Competition Locksmith that I received good quality services, can't say the same for the others. Lenny arrived on time and got to work. He explained to me about the new lock he was installing. He even tighten up another lock in my house "free of charge". And did I mention they also offer a warranty on their services. Don't quote me but I believe it's for 45 days from date of service. Lenny did the job well and was not only professional but courteous, but held a great conversation and gave some good recommendations as well. I'm not sure if Competition Locksmith is a 24 hour locksmith, I don't recall seeing it on the website and I totally forgot to ask. read more

Competition locksmith arrived on time which was impressive considering I'd only made the appointment that same morning. Lenny the owner gave me an estimated quote prior to arrival which was was fair and reasonable! I requested a deadbolt change since the old one that came with my house was starting to deteriorate. The service was outstanding! Not only did he change my deadbolt in a jiffy but also gave me an extra set of keys to give to my father, free of charge. Lenny the locksmith showed up on time and got straight to work! Overall, I strongly recommend competition locksmith to anyone who is in need of quality locksmith services. I will definitely be calling competition locksmith in the future for any other locksmith needs. Thank you Lenny for giving me a marvelous experience! read more

Their service is outstanding! I called 8:30 am and a live person answered the phone! (Numerous other companies went to voicemail). Lenny said he would try to get to me by the end of the day on his way back home (it was a Friday). He called me at 3:00pm, showed up at 3:20 and was done by 4:00! I couldn't be happier. Also, did I mention Lenny is handsome? Lol Just a perk when dealing with his company. He gets 5 gold stars in my book read more

I cannot say enough good things about Lenny and his service. He was quick to respond, professional and courteous both on the phone and in person, and his workmanship is superior. Where do I begin so that you can understand the depth of Competition Locksmith's dedication to its customers? I will start at the beginning. There was a security situation, which was causing a muck in our neighborhood. In order to ensure our family's safety we needed to upgrade all the locks in our home. At the same time that we were dealing with securing our home, our nation went on lockdown because of a pandemic that had us all in a panic. For us it was a double whammy. I called several locksmiths in my area, left numerous messages, spoke to some who promised to get back to me but never did and others who thought it was important to inform me that we were in a pandemic (as though I had no idea). Then I called Lenny at Competition Locksmith. I explained our situation to Lenny and the urgency we were experiencing to secure our home, and he listened. He explained what we needed to do. He didn't avoid our need in order to keep himself safe, but rather he made provisions to communicate and look at our needs and assess our situation through text. I sent him pictures of what needed to be replaced and he sent me pictures of various replacements that would more than adequately satisfy the job. We agreed on a price, which by the way was less than any other that I was quoted, and within hours deadbolt holes were drilled and locks - 5 in total were replaced! All with social distancing precautions in place and with absolutely no clean up necessary on our part. Gary, Lenny's installer was kind and courteous and extremely professional. He was experienced, efficient and quick! Moreover, a few days had passed and after acquainting ourselves with the products we purchased, we had some specific questions about what we chose. After normal business hours we called Lenny, who returned our call immediately! Within minutes he arranged for a 3-way call between he, my husband and the lock manufacturer. Needless to say all our questions were answered and we are enjoying being very safe - alone - during lockdown! Thanks Lenny - you seriously are THE BEST!!! read more

Can't say enough about Lenny and Competition Locksmith. I was in a bind. I had to coordinate a change in locks on my mother's condo from California and I HAD to have it done that day. Lenny took it on and got it done. I would recommend Lenny without a hesitation. read more

We called Lenny and his team because we locked ourselves out of a bedroom. We called at 11:30pm the night before 4th of July-- compared to the 10 other locksmiths I called, his pricing was the most competitive. He also is clear, easy to communicate with and knows the surrounding towns (perks of a local). They arrived in a timely manner (30 min) and were professional, personable, transparent & got the job done quickly. If I ever shamefully lock myself out of a bedroom again, I'm definitely calling Lenny and his team. read more

Superb service. Friendly staff that helped me very quickly and made me laugh in an otherwise bad situation. I was locked out of a rental car that had a dead battery, malfunctioning key fob, and a poorly cut door key. I called Lenny at 7:30 at night and he was there within 20 minutes to save me. He then fixed a lock for my employer and fixed a couple other problems we didn't even know we had. read more

Lenny is professionally, friendly and very helpful! Highly recommend this company for any security needs-especially in case of emergency!

I came home from a long day Memorial Day to find myself and my sister who is a blind adult with special needs, locked out of my home. Something was wrong with my lock and we could not gain entry. I called another locksmith and did not receive an answer so scrolled down and found Competition. I was given a price over the phone and an estimated arrival time. Lenny arrived and was very pleasant and very professional. He had to drill out and replace my doorknob and bolt. Before arriving he knew I was paying cash. I mention this because anyone I have ever dealt with will usually not charge tax or drop price a bit if receiving cash. Not Lenny. Not only was I charged tax, but the original price quoted was increased by $200. When I questioned why he charged me an additional $200 for a doorknob and a dead bolt he said that's what they cost "installed". I was very upset and he knew it, but made no attempt to lower his price. Instead he offered to accept a credit card, or half cash and half credit. I was very upset. Did he do a good job? Yes. But I feel very taken advantage of. Prior to writing out the bill, I had just finished telling him I do not have a job and that I was using my Dads money to pay. Lenny you asked for my recommendation, so here it is. You may show up, you may get the job done, but your integrity may need to be checked. Almost $500 is a little steep and you as the owner could have adjusted your price. You did not. Lesson learned... read more

Our patio door deadbolt broke and we lost the keys. We wanted the same lockset but couldn't find it anywhere online. Lenny walked us through how and where to find it, and once we had the new lockset in hand performed a quick and easy removal of the old and install of the new. Lenny helped make the process as smooth as possible. And the pricing was more than fair. We could not have asked for anything more. I highly recommend for any of your locksmith needs.
