I made the mistake of purchasing a Stihl MS 171 chainsaw from this Ace Hardware store - clearly a major mistake as it is a disappointing and frustrating piece of garbage. I strongly recommend against buying one. Moreover, I will never go to this dealer - Carter Ace Hardware in Eustis, FL - again. They have lost a customer and I advise others to not shop there as well. When the dealer tried to demo the chainsaw for me after I'd purchased it, it would not start and kept stalling out. The dealer said their Stihl tech would be in a couple of days later and they were sure it probably just needed a minor adjustment. The dealer called Tuesday afternoon telling me the carburetor merely needed to be adjusted, it was now working great and I could come to pick it up. When I went to the Carter Ace Hardware store to pick up the chainsaw, two of their employees tried to demonstrate how to use the saw. They, again, had significant difficulties trying to start it and keep it running. I should have cancelled my purchase then and there and asked for a refund. Major mistake on my part that I didn't. UGH. After considerable effort, they finally managed to get it running. Being a trusting individual, I made the mistake of believing their employees telling me if I had any issues I could return it. Although concerned, I very reluctantly took it home. Please note - between the time I first committed to purchase the saw and when I went in to pick it up, I watched Stihl chainsaw videos online and downloaded and read the entire Owner's Manual for the saw. Twice in the past three days since purchasing the saw I've tried to use it. Each time the saw was difficult to start and keep running. If I paused using the saw and turned it off - it was difficult to restart and took considerable effort and patience to restart to continue using it. This morning I took the saw back to Carter's Ace Hardware to return it. They were not receptive. One of the same employees who had struggled to demo the saw took it outside and, of course, it started right up and seemed to work fine. Must be operator error on my part. The bottom line - I own a chainsaw that I strongly believe is an absolute piece of garbage and DO NOT want. You will probably see it for sale on FB Marketplace or eBay because I'll definitely be buying a competitor's product. Any recommendations??? read more

Just as a Covid19 update, not much is different. They don't encourage masks or have aisles or registers marked for social distancing. No hand sanitizer is provided. But the register clerks wear masks, though other staff members don't. I imagine most of their customer base don't care about precautions or it would be different. Just be sure to wear your mask and get in and get out again. A great store and nice staff people. read more

Went in to get a sprayer and weed killer for my investment home. Honestly felt like i was in a episode of stranger things the net flix show. Its a little town that feels like it hasnt moved forward in todays technology lol. Its quiet and pleasant. Everything was crammed but organized, their customer service was way beyond friendly and knowledgeable. I found what i needed quick and fast and caught myself just wondering the small store. They even had a regular who came in and everyone greeted him by his name and felt like i was in cheers when the actors would walk in and they would all yell out their name. Great place! read more

To my mistake I grabbed four 1 gallon jugs of 15W-40 oil because the price tag showed $9.49 a piece. I approached the counter and the female attendant in front (should've caught her name) was super rude. She said it's $41 a piece not $10, someone put those there by mistake. The tone and manner in which she said it was horrible. Even while holding 4 jugs of oil, she didn't great me nor move the items off the counter to assist in my purchase. She never made eye contact either, which is a huge red flag when speaking to someone. Especially a customer. I felt like I was committing a crime by explaining the displayed price. I offered to bring the tag to show her and she got defensive and said you can but I don't care what the tag says. Either way I'm disappointed in ace hardware, the way she handled her customer service was atrocious. I will never shop at this location again. read more

We are so pleased with the Bronson Ace Hardware manager and the hardware department. Craig Regan, the manager, has an excellent knowledge of hardware. We ordered parts for an antique engine and within a week the part was in and the correct size that was needed. This store also has wonderful customer service and the employees actually care about their customers. We will definitely return and will shop at Bronson Ace Hardware, in Eustis, FL. read more

The Ace Hardware store on Orange Avenue in Eustis consistently provides the best customer experience one could hope for. We own 28 apartments in Eustis and they have everything we need to make repairs, renovations and improvements. Their staff is professional, very knowledgeable,and courteous. The staff is also kind -- they are good people and they make you want to come back and do business with them again and again, which we have done for the five-plus years we've owned the apartments. I've never had a problem with Ace Hardware until today. Me and my husband had a horrible experience at the one in Eustis Florida. We went in there looking for a spark plug for my son's four-wheeler and realize they didn't have it after another associate helped us look it up. We looked around for a couple mins and left. As we walked out the door and across the street to the parking lot where we parked, of the managers Craig walked up behind us and said surprise I saw you put something in your bag and we have you on camera. I was in shock and emptied out my whole bag in the parking lot as a few people stood around and watched. I was so embarrassed and humiliated as he stood there telling us that he recognizes our car which neither me or my husband has ever been to that Ace Hardware since we've owned this car. We told him we wanted to see the video but all he kept saying is what about the side pocket in your bag or what's in your car, which didn't make sense cause we didn't even make it out to the car before he stopped us. This is definitely a case of profiling because I carry A small bookbag for a purse and my husband has tattoos and it's not Right. Both me and my husband work hard for our money and don't need to steal anything from this store especially a $3 spark plug. He asked us why we were parked in the parking lot next door and I told him because I just picked up my prescription at the pharmacy the next building over and have a receipt to prove it and my husband just wanted to run in and see if they had the part and I met him over there when I was done getting it filled. The ONLY reason I felt the need to answer his question is because I wanted him to feel like an idiot for wrongfully accusing and trying to humiliate us. Once he realized he was wrong he apologized and told us we were welcome back in the store anytime. read more
