Tried to stay here for my husbands TDY, but were unable to because they do not accommodate families at this time. (We have a 1 year old)

We lucked up on getting onto a few rides back to back with little to no waits when we arrived. The torrent River/wave pool in blastenhauf now requires live jackets- if you are 18 or older you can take valid ID to guest services and sign a waiver which excludes you from life jacket requirements! 2 rides I was disappointed in - the dragon revenge- longest line there was- instead of standing at the top of the side where there is water to keep you cool- you stand way at the bottom waiting for a tube (seems they only have about 15 tubes total) ride moves slow and we nearly got stuck! Also HILLSIDE! My favorite ride- they added these jumps for the first 1/2 of the ride where it makes you go super slow- and your butt is dragging over ever hump making it a very uncomfortable ride! The last half of the ride is great and just as I remember- besides not going through the missdle of the locker room anymore. Some of the slides also showed thier age and like they never get thoroughly cleaned when not in season. I love you can take your own cooler for non alcoholic beverages and food so your not eating and drinking fair food and drinks all day while in the sun. Hoping my next visit is just as great as this one!

Now my concern has changed.... I'm concerned that so many of us are missing out on this amazing place! The margaritas are some of the best I've had, definitely a home made mix, and the top off of "holy water" is pretty awesome. The wine selection is impressive and the owner is very well versed in wines, I'd call him an unofficial sommelier. The food was so delicious, the chicken verde enchiladas were perfect and the salsa was spicy but so flavorful. So many times anything with heat is spicy and bland but not this. I even got chips and they were thin, crispy and perfect. Everyone was so attentive and wanted to make sure that everyone completely enjoyed their dish and drink. I had two delicious margaritas and am not a cheap date and I was feeling it, which was nice... a slight euphoric/buzzed feeling that is hard time come by most of the time. It's definitely not Tex mex. You aren't getting the typical "Mexican rice" anything but man it is better. The owner reminds me of a kind dad/grandpa. The kind of guy that is just fun to be around, his staff equally friendly. This place is one of the few family owned restaurants that are truly welcoming and family owned. Give them a try. Tell them I sent ya.

06 May 2026 We…read moreusually try a place a couple of times before I write a review, but... It took me reading a Facebook post about Ernesto's and how it's a small family-owned restaurant. Oh and it's very good. So we went this evening. No reservation as I think is suggested. There was a large group of people, a table of four, and a table of two on the main floor. We were seated in the upper area, not on the main floor. We're OK with that. There are about four two-seaters on this level. Ernesto Jr. came by and explained the three specials offered this evening. The menu lists about a dozen different sauces that can top the dish you order. They all sound delicious. I had the Steak San Antonio. This is a filet of tenderloin covered in avocado butter (so good) with an enchilada of your choice, rice and beans. Served with a basket of freshly baked French bread. The husband had a seafood combo: shrimp, lobster, snapper stuffed with lump crab served with rice. His was topped with the Veracruz sauce and another selected by Ernesto. Fabulous. The food has flavor. Tons of flavor. The service is spot on. Ernesto comes by first, talks to you, makes suggestions and then takes your order. The rest of the staff takes over from here. Delivers your food, keeps up with refills, clears the table, brings the bill. This is a well-run process. We had ceviche to start. The husband is not a big fan, so I ate the majority. I enjoyed it very much. When we left, Ernesto came outside to thank us for coming. That doesn't happen at most places. The truly personal touch. Give this restaurant a try if you haven't already.

Why, bc when I saw the name, Ernesto's Mexican....., the first thing I thought was I was not in the mood for Mexican food. When I saw some of the photos they had, the foods the cook, at the number of reviews they had (500+ reviews) and the 4.5 out of 5 star ratings, figured it was worth trying. Should be named, "Ernesto's Gourmet Cuisine". Why? Bc that is exactly what it serves. The quality is exactly what it is, GOURMET quality. We ordered the Camarones De la Plancha in Veracruz sauce And the Crabmeat & Shrimp Veracruz which were both fantastic! We loved both of them. The atmosphere was great. Waiters were nice and enjoyable to order and talk to. They know their stuff. Place is a nice, quiet and enjoyable atmosphere to be with your friends & family. Overall, We give it a 11 out of 10. Why. Not just because of all I said but bc the value for the quality of the food was great!! They've been in business for over 40+ yrs now! You know they have to doing something right. We give it a "Big Thumbs Up" It is worth your time and money, hands down. You'll be happy you went. Rene

We did the latter and found that whenever we had questions there were plenty of docents who could happily provide detailed answers. There is also, for a fee, a museum on site with many artifacts from that time period. Many items were donated by avid Alamo collectors including musician Phil Collins and David Zucker (director of Airplane! and Naked Gun). A new museum is being constructed as of the date of this review. A gift shop is on site too as well as many statues throughout the grounds honoring those involved in the battle. Boudros was highly recommended by friends, and was the first restaurant on our list to dine in during our recent visit. We arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday around 7:45 pm and were told by a young Hostess that no walk-ins were allowed until after 9 pm. We decided to modify our itinerary and instead had dinner at a different restaurant on the riverwalk, and made a reservation for Boudros online for the following evening. When we arrived the following evening for our reservation at 7.30 pm, we were escorted to a small table in the bar that was next to the entrance to a small room. The area was noisy with a lot of foot traffic. We asked for a table in a quieter room and were moved to a room in the back of the restaurant where it was easier to have a conversation. A few minutes later our waiter, Stephen, approached the table. We asked him for drink recommendations and among others he recommended the "Prickly Pear Margarita". I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, and we also ordered the tableside Guacamole. The restaurant was busy, but there were several empty tables in our dining area. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the waiter brought our drinks. The Prickly Pear Margarita I received was not even close to the description on the menu. The ice was melted and it tasted like Fruit Punch with alcohol in a martini glass. A few minutes later, Stephen approached our table with the Guacamole cart. There were pieces of onions and cilantro all over the dirty table cloth on the cart. He prepared the Guacamole in front of us and it looked very unappealing. We watched as he added an excessive amount of diced onions and cilantro. Being a connoisseur of Guacamole, and making my own for most of my life, it was obvious that Stephen had not been trained well in how to make Guacamole. After he mixed the sliced avocados, the diced onions and cilantro, he wiped the edge of the stone tray with a dirty cloth. The onions and cilantro over powered the taste of the avocado. Later that evening, Stephen brought a very fancy drink for a customer sitting next to us. The drink looked like frozen lime juice with line of frozen strawberry and a nice scoop of frozen lime juice on top. I asked Stephen for the name of that drink, and he replied that it was the same drink that I had ordered. I asked why it looked so different and he muttered something about it being the end of the batch and then said "I'm not the Bartender". He blamed the Bartender for making the terrible drink, and made no effort to correct the problem. Later Stephen returned with our dinner, and as he approached our table, he ordered my wife to "move your glass!" Needless to say she was quite taken aback at his abrupt manner with no please or thank-you. In all the staff did not have a very good demeanor and were very sullen and grumpy. Even asking for directions to the bathroom barely elicited a glance and the needed information. Maybe the staff was overworked because of the number of visitors for the Fiesta, but the terrible, over-priced food, did not make up for the unhappy staff, and we do not plan to return.
