My husband booked this hotel because of its convenient location, close to the River Walk and Alamo and most important, its in a very old and full of history building. We both really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean with the most comfortable beds and pillows and the very fun and convenient breakfasts and dinners/drinks. The beds and pillows were so comfy, we slept for almost 12 hours our first night... The foods, buffet style, were good, with many options. (They are comfort foods, if you expect high-end kind, it's not for you...) The customer services were what we appreciated and enjoyed the most. All of the staff, from the front desk hosts, to the managers, bartender (Annette), food service group... everyone was so friendly, nice, and welcoming. *The only "issue" that we experienced was the super loud, seemed like hours long, of car honkings, engines noice... of 1 night. But it wasn't the hotel's problem. The home team, The Spurs, won the game and the city was celebrating... Highly recommend this hotel and the services here... Thanks for showing us, the out-of-towners, the warm and hospitality of San Antonio/Texans that we heard so often before...

What set it apart wasn't simply the beautiful hotel or location -- it was the level of personal care. Ariel at the concierge desk was wonderful. She helped arrange safe airport transportation for my friend when she arrived before me and, when my flight was significantly delayed, made sure she could check in without me. Being stuck traveling and knowing she was in good hands was invaluable. We were welcomed with a personal note, fruit, flowers and champagne, and then surprised with more birthday treats during our spa day. Those thoughtful details made the entire stay feel special. And the SPA! Easily one of the best I've ever visited. Being able to truly relax before and after our treatments -- especially in the beautiful post-treatment lounge -- made it an experience rather than simply a massage appointment. Jessica gave me what was quite literally the best massage I've ever had (and I've had a lot of massages!). Even the little things stood out: complimentary morning coffee delivered through room service and an incredibly kind and helpful room-service attendant. Luxury hotels can have beautiful rooms and impressive amenities. What made Mokara exceptional was how genuinely cared for we felt from beginning to end. The personal touches made all the difference. Mokara will absolutely be at the top of my list the next time I'm in San Antonio. Five stars without hesitation.

It was still AMAZING and left me wishing that I could stay longer! My King Room was huge and ultra clean and comfortable! Taking a break from work, I headed to the pool deck, which was small but sufficient and had comfortable chairs to sun in. I remembered an amazing redfish dish from Ostra, enjoyed so many years ago... I really wanted to eat at Ostra again this visit, because I saw redfish on the menu and wondered if it was really as good as my memory of it. I was initially bummed that Ostra was closed for a private event during my stay, BUT my disappointment quickly turned to excitement when I saw the same dish offered on the room service menu. YES!! It was as good if not better than my memory of it! Finally and importantly, the individuals working in valet, front desk, and room service were so service driven and friendly! Overall, I cannot wait to stay at the Mokara again in the hopefully, not so distant future!

As part of our wedding package, they were incredibly generous and included two complimentary nights at the hotel and dinner at Dorrego's for us to celebrate. They are truly the absolute best at what they do and really know how to celebrate their guests! Returning to the very place where we said "I do" was already emotional enough, but Hotel Valencia somehow made the experience even more memorable than our first stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff was exactly as we remembered them: kind, attentive, professional, thoughtful, and genuinely wonderful. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, and when we walked in on our first day, we found the sweetest surprise waiting for us: a bottle of champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a congratulations message written in chocolate on the plate. I actually teared up a little! It was such a thoughtful and adorable gesture that truly made us feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. There is something so special about Hotel Valencia. The environment is exceptional, the service is always outstanding, and even their gorgeous signature scent instantly brings us back to memories of love, celebration, and adventure. Every little detail feels intentional and memorable. I am so incredibly thankful that we chose Hotel Valencia as the place to celebrate both our wedding and our first anniversary. It will forever hold such a special place in our hearts, and we cannot wait to return again and make even more memories there. Thank you, Hotel Valencia, for helping make two of the most meaningful celebrations of our lives absolutely unforgettable!

A Wonderful Stay at Hotel Valencia!…read more We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Valencia on the San Antonio River Walk! The location is perfect step out the front door and you're right in downtown San Antonio. From the hotel restaurant, you can take the stairs or elevator directly down to the River Walk, which makes getting around so easy and convenient. What we especially loved is that this hotel has so much character and charm. It doesn't feel like one of those cookie-cutter chain hotels. We had a balcony, although it was simply too hot during our visit to sit outside and enjoy it. I'm sure it would be wonderful on a cooler evening! The bar and restaurant were both excellent, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. A special shout-out to the valet guys they provided wonderful service and were always so helpful. Great location, beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and drinks, and exceptional service. We would definitely stay here again when we're back in San Antonio!

They were already overcrowded, and staff were also using them to transport large carts, making the situation even more frustrating for guests. There was also an extremely long wait each time we requested our vehicle from valet, especially during checkout. We also had an unpleasant experience with one of the female bartenders, who was blatantly rude to us for no apparent reason. She walked away from us in the middle of our order and appeared visibly irritated with nearly everyone she assisted. The room itself was nice, but we had another issue with housekeeping. When we checked in, we were asked if we wanted housekeeping during our two-night stay, and we specifically said no. Despite that, housekeeping entered my room while we were away, removed and lost my personal towels, replacing them with hotel towels! They also entered my son's room and threw away a pizza that was in a pizza box sitting on his desk. It was food he had eaten for lunch that day and had not intended to throw away. For the amount of money we paid to stay here, I expected a much higher level of service and professionalism. Unfortunately, the chaotic atmosphere, poor communication, and lack of respect for our privacy made this a disappointing stay. I do not recommend staying at this hotel.

When I returned to my room to get my coffee the key did not work. the housekeeper cleaning the room across the hall opened the door for me. Fay was great with customer service ! Pleasant and professional ! ! They even had a personalized welcome on the TV by the time we got there! Gotta love the small details! Technology helping with a good customer experience. There is a very narrow balcony with two chairs, we used it in the evening and to watch the lovely sun rise. Our room was very spacious. Really liked the glass door refrigerator so I could see how many water bottles we had left. Hahaha. We walked everywhere from this location! Early morning to the Alamo and back for a refreshing dip in the pool before walking to go out for the evening ! Their breakfast buffet is superb. A great variety and the omelette station is excellent. You choose what you like, then the gentleman will put it together! It was delicious. The host Amber was friendly and told us about the San Antonio Saga at the San Fernando Cathedral. She also told us about the Pearl District, but I don't think we will have time to visit this trip. The happy hour was nice. The bartender Steve hustled when they got busy! He smiled and was very appreciative of tips!. I think most people forget the importance of tips to these guys! The snacks the first night were mixed snacks and goldfish, chips and salsa and tomatillo sauce veggie platter and crackers. (Oddly, no cheese for the crackers) the second night, chips and fresh made onion dip and cheese and crackers. Great stay at a nice location!

Although there was no text option to request my car, that hardly mattered--the valet team was lightning-fast in retrieving it. The complimentary evening reception was exactly what you hope for after a long day. Thorin (learned her dad was a Hobit fan) and kept the conversations, cocktails and beer welcoming and plentiful, and the chef's homemade hummus, graciously offered to evening guests, is THE best hummus I've had in all my worldly travels. Seriously--it deserves its own mention. Breakfast brought another memorable experience. I met Amber, who moved from table to table like an elegant hummingbird with a purpose, making sure guests were enjoying themselves and everything was right. She suggested I try the made-to-order omelet. I hesitated after seeing a line of about 15 people, walked away and she insisted I go back as she assured me it moved quickly. She wasn't wrong. My custom omelet was prepared in less time than it would have taken a chicken to lay the eggs--and it was excellent. Jose, "the boss," monitors the guest experience from afar, engaging appropriately when needed and clearly making sure the entire operation maintained its quality. You can see the teamwork. And I saved the best for last. "OB" (O'Brian) greeted me at the front desk and took the time to determine what mattered to me in selecting a room--did I prefer the view or amenities? Somehow, I ended up with both. More importantly, OB remained engaged throughout my stay with the comfortable familiarity of someone I'd known for years rather than someone I'd just met at a hotel desk. He made me feel like family returning to an overdue reunion than a stranger looking for a room. I'll certainly return for the comfort and the convenient proximity to the Centre Club and the River Walk. But what makes Embassy Suites San Antonio Riverwalk, 125 E. Houston Street, my newly discovered place of retreat is something harder to advertise in photographs: the genuine friendliness, humor, hospitality, and teamwork of the people who work there. Beautiful property. Great location. Wonderful amenities. Exceptional people--and that's what will bring me back.

When I got to their valet I explained how I was not staying with them but I needed an overnight charge so that I can make it back to Austin the next morning. They were super nice and helpful and explained how the charger was in use but that it would be freed up soon. They promised to do it for me so I didn't have to worry about waiting on the other vehicle. The next morning my 2020 Nissan LEAF was fully charged and ready to go! Additional disclaimer: I'm not sure what brand they have but I got a sense that it might be a Tesla level 2 charger (AKA "destination charger"). So while my LEAF has a standard J1772 port, I also happen to have a quality NACS to J1772 adapter. So good idea to have one just in case, because I can't verify what type they use. Just a heads up it got my attention when the valet asked me if I had an adapter. Anyway, shout out to the valet staff. I am so sorry I forgot the name of the person who retrieved my car, he was great and when I dropped it off, Armando and Alec were super courteous and helpful as well. I realize valet companies are not part of the hotel, but they are often times your first interaction/impression, and these guys are top notch. One more disclaimer: overnight parking is quite expensive, but it was just a little more than my hotel would have charged me anyway. So while very convenient, this was not cheap.
