Shout out to ALL Kimpton Hotels because they are truly dog-friendly. No fees or deposits, no breed or weight restrictions, and no limit. I wasn't traveling with my pups on this recent work trip, but will def remember that for the next time. This Kimpton Santo is a stone's throw from the convention center and a just a short walk to other points of attraction, like the River Walk, Hemisfair. I was booked for two nights (only stayed one night and they refunded me for the 2nd night, minus a "late checkout fee."). The hotel has a popular steakhouse, Deans, a very sexy bar, a side lounge to Dean's called The Study, and a rooftop lounge serving mediterranean-fare. (Reservations HIGH recommended for all.) There's also a pool, complimentary morning coffee/tea, complimentary wine happy hour. My room was a king with all the amenities a biz traveler could ask for: wifi, blackout curtains, hot shower... the ac fan was super loud and I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Thank goodness for ear plugs. Check-in staff, doormen all offered excellent service. read more

Awesome hotel in downtown! It's across the street from Hemisfair so I felt this is a great option for tourists and families with small kids. You can walk to the Alamo, river walk, Hemisfair, the tower of America, and all of the shops and restaurants around this area (Maverick, Rosario's, La Vallita). We had a great time and really enjoyed the amenities of the hotel. They have a pool and bar on the top floor (10th floor) with a beautiful view of downtown. Nice seating areas on the lobby level, in addition to a courtyard, a bar and Dean's steak house. Good service from hotel staff. Would love to be back! I had never heard of a Kimpton but it is now one of my favorites. This boutique hotel offered so much. In the morning they have a coffee service and from 5-6pm each evening they have a wine or beer service. There is even a team member that will pour it for you. They stored my luggage before I could check in, which was great and the woman working the front driveway opens the door for me each evening. I had a room that included breakfast. I will say that the restaurant was not very fast and the food was average. However, the first day of my conference I was running late and the host took my order and told me to have a seat in the the restaurant by bar and I had my oatmeal and coffee quickly. The breakfast experience dropped my rating to a 4. Everyone I interacted with was very pleasant. read more

AMAZING!!! The absolute BEST customer service all around, everywhere you went! Top 3 hotels I've stayed at! The scenery is absolutely stunning! They have complimentary alcoholic beverages from 5-6pm, you know I took advantage of that! The rooftop pool is so relaxing! I loved it! The food service on the tenfold rooftop wasn't what I expected. We ordered chorizo oysters & you could bearly see the oysters..I'll post pics, the Korean bbq skewers were tasty... they were a bit too spicy for my daughter & the drinking water at the pool was super hot so he literally ran and got my daughter an iced water, his name was Mark so very sweet. They had a complimentary wine bottle with chocolate covered strawberries waiting for me as I entered my hotel room, I felt super special! I will definitely have another staycation here! I LOVE THE KIMPTON CHAIN. PERIOD. I always say each location is my new favorite and that will probably never change. This location just opened last August and you can tell it's new. I love the architecture and interior design so much. It makes me feel like it is in a desert location. Very chic and modern. The rooftop pool is excellent as is the service (we ordered a couple of cocktails and some snacks) and our pup had a blast relaxing on a lounger. The hotel bar is super cool with excellent service and drinks. Room service is amazing. We had steak and eggs for breakfast and the food was cooked to perfection. The staff goes above and beyond. From start to finish. The valet, front desk, housekeeping, servers, etc. all at the top of their game and all seem to really love working here. A welcoming, clean, and comfortable hotel with amazing views and super dog friendly points like complimentary dog bowls and dog beds for use. One of the dog bowls I received was dirty with a prior dog's usage but I just set it aside. The floor is nice because it's dog-proof and the rest of the hotel is gorgeous. Lovely downtown views and floor to ceiling windows in the premium rooms and they have a social hour from 5-6pm on certain weekdays. It's about 10-15 min from the Riverwalk area and 5-10 to La Villita. It felt safe and quiet in the neighborhood. There's parking with valet or next door is a cheaper open lot. I stayed at the Kimpton Santo in San Antonio while attending a conference. The hotel is really nice for the price point and about a 10 minute walk from the convention center. Staff was super helpful and friendly. They have a color printer at the front desk if you need some printing done. It was free to print. We just sent them an PDF in an email. Street construction nearby made the walk a little longer than expected, but it was manageable. A highlight of the trip was Lowcountry bar nearby, which is a must visit if you are in the area. read more

There's also a cozy library-style sitting area where they serve complimentary beer and wine from 5-6 pm, plus you receive two free margarita tokens for the main bar. Wish I could leave a better review but my expectations were not met. To begin with, the amenities listed on the website are misleading, since there is no spa. Additionally, the staff was consistently unhelpful and did not adequately address guest needs. This hotel reminds me of the luxury resort experiences that you would get in Mexico. As soon as you arrive on the property you are greeted by their smiling valet service. Once you walk inside, your senses are awakening by the aromatic scents they have to greet you. On the inside and out, the place is beautiful. Very grown & mature vibes with the low lights and esthetics. They have a living room & patio area for lounging. A rooftop pool & lounge with beautiful city views. A restaurant & bar on site, and a speakeasy. All they were missing was a spa! Many people come for these vibes on the weekends that aren't hotel guests, so reservations are highly encouraged. The best part for me was that it's dog friendly and free for the dogs to stay. I've never experienced any hotel like that. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. From the bed to the shower to the restaurant. I felt like I had an escape to Tulum. Although I was on a work conference and didn't really get to enjoy everything that was offered. Every staff was kind, patient, & courteous. They all wore a smile on their face. From the tall door man, to the bellman, to the valet guys, the housekeepers, the bartenders, the hostesses, and front desk staff. They all seemed to like their job and went above and beyond to provide excellent 5 star customer service. I would definitely recommend checking this place out. Checked this newly and impressive hotel! Kimpton Santo Hotel is located down town San Antonio. You are able to spot the name from afar and give you the sense of a resort like hotel! As soon as I entered Kimpton Santo hotel, I was greeted by Natalie. A very professional, helpful, and knowledgeable young lady at the front desk. She explained everything I needed to know about the hotel, guests social hours, and the restaurants. She made me feel very welcomed and appreciated that. The Dean's Steak & Seafood is a very nice place to have that special dinner with that special someone. The patio area is a romantic place to be with your love one or with families. For best view, be there as the sun goes down-You won't regret it! The Tenfold Rooftop-If you never felt on top of the world, you will be there. We recently stayed here for just a night for a quick overnight trip from Austin to catch a show and celebrate my birthday. We are big fans of the Kimpton brand and were really excited to see one open in San Antonio. When it came time to book our hotel, the Kimpton Santo was a no brainer. Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed with the sparkling new building. Everything is shiny clean and the decor is very well done. Check-in was a breeze and the front desk staff was super friendly. Unfortunately, we did have a couple of major issues with our room once we settled in which put a big damper on our afternoon/evening. I believe both issues were related to the new construction, but our afternoon we had planned to spend relaxing in the room and enjoying the amenities quickly escaped us as we wrestled maintenance issues -- one which even made the bathroom unusable. That being said, the reason I still rate this a 5-star experience has everything to do with the staff. The staff at the Kimpton Santo (especially AJ) went above and BEYOND to make it up to us! Knowing it was my birthday, and wanting to turn our stay around, we were moved to a new room (sans maintenance issues) and AJ arranged several surprises for us over the course of our stay to make our experience special -- including sending up this delicious birthday cake (pictured)! While our stay started rocky, we ended up having an amazing time. Our new room was comfortable and well-appointed just as we've come to expect from Kimpton. We grabbed drinks before dinner at the lobby bar and got after-dinner drinks at The Study (the cocktail bar connected to Dean's Steakhouse located at the hotel). Every staff member we interacted with was so accommodating and went out of their way to make us feel taken care of. AJ even arranged a special treat for us a The Study as well! You're never going to find a hotel that doesn't have maintenance issues and troublesome inconveniences from time to time, but the thing that sets hotels apart is the way they respond to them. Kimpton Santo has top-tier customer service in spades. That, and the beautiful facilities, would lead me to book the Kimpton Santo again without hesitation. read more

I loved this hotel. Very beautiful spaces everywhere and all of the staff were especially friendly. I love the rooftop bar and even the lobby bar is very nice. The check out is 12 which I can appreciate it not being too early and even though I left my room a little late no one was banging on my door asking when I was leaving. My only complaint is the pool menu. I wish there were more options for food such as quesadillas and chips and guac etc. Also I overhead there was an extremely long wait time around check out time for valet so maybe room for improvement there. But I can't wait to come back and stay here! read more

This was absolutely the nicest hotel I have stayed at in a while and it's probably because they just opened. Although there's still construction happening in front of the hotel because that's the municipality's problem, that doesn't stop them from opening. Service is top notch with great recommendations and slowly going over all of the many amenities and offerings they have available. Super friendly and they always greet you whenever you walk by. There's always someone opening the door for you when you exit and enter the building from the side entrance. The pool on the rooftop is super nice, although the water is somehow ice cold in the 90 degree heat. I can only imagine it being a lot busier as we were able to just sit ourselves at one of the cabanas. Someone even came to get us towels. On the other side of the pool is their rooftop bar, which we also tried at another time. Great drinks there and great service. Also on the rooftop is their gym and it's nice. You can workout on brand new equipment with a nice view of San Antonio. They have a speakeasy which is great. There's a bar and steakhouse. Shoutout to Alejandro for being an amazing bartender. Rooms were spotless being that it's brand new. Super comfortable beds and sleek shower. Room service is great. Overcrowded during the holidays. The time it takes room service and valet is longer than other times of the year. There's a complimentary coffee station in the lobby. On a Saturday at 9am, there was no coffee left, and even after checking 45 minutes later. The hotel seems understaffed, but the staff working is exceptionally kind and professional. There's room service is delicious but sometimes takes a full hour. If you text the number for valet, they won't retrieve your car until you get downstairs. Defeats the purpose of texting ahead. Visited the rooftop bar Tenfold a few weeks after they opened. Very comfortable seating for large groups. Amazing view of hemisfair. We were saved from parking in the wrong spot by one of the valets- appreciate that! Appetizer servings are very small- 3 bites for $13 for example. Maybe they will be more generous with portions as they evolve. Server was super friendly and helpful, and the manager stopped by to see how we were doing. Seems like a good place to take out of town guests that you want to impress. I recommend reservations. read more

So to be fair this hotel is new, could be understaffed and surrounded by construction so this could be the reason for my low stars. Beautiful hotel, smells amazing not overpowering, valet arrival was great, but upon us leaving the staff changed and that valet service was not so great. The pool was what I was most excited for but was a let down. Amazing views, very little sun coverage causing the pool water to be more of an ice plunge situation, but the worse part is no staff around till 4pm. Which is a complete let down. The suggestion is get out of the pool in your swim wear, take the elevator 10 floors down through the lobby and into the fine dining steak house bar area to order food and drinks, then go back up to the pool. Never been to a hotel where this has occurred. May return next summer in hopes that it's fully staffed and a different experience :) read more

Then Pete the Bellman, helped with unloading our vehicle so quickly and carefully and took everything up to the room for us with ease and then continuing to take care of us all night, including some of the best conversations we've had! Then moving into the receptionist whether it was Moore, Zoey or Richard they all provided exceptional service! Ensuring we knew exactly what we were getting into and there being zero surprises! This hotel was so close to a 5 star experience but the valet couldn't help themselves. We arrived just past 2:45AM due to a tire blowout in Houston. We were exhausted and ready to crash for the night. Upon arrival, Pauline was welcoming and allowed us a delayed checkout due to the late arrival. Their only parking option is valet so we grabbed our bags from the car and let the valet do the parking. The room was so new, you could smell it. Kind of like a new home smell. Shower was great as well as the bed. Nespresso in the room the next morning was GREAT. I texted the valet to get the car pulled up before we headed down to check out. We get outside and the car still has not arrived. it's been over 15 minutes and there was no other guests around. After the car arrives, I notice all our items scattered in the trunk and after we drove away, I noted it was in "Dynamic" mode when i only drive it in the "Individual". So what most likely happened last night was the bearded hipster looking valet took my $120,000 Audi for a joy ride in the wee hours of the morning and that really frustrates me. I trust a nice hotel valet with my car and they can't control themselves. Really put a damper on the otherwise 5 star experience. Next time i'll just park it myself. read more

Stayed 3 nights and here's my thoughts. Beautiful new facility! Staff are all super professional and very responsive to texts. Housekeeping are really great. I was working from the hotel during the day and asked if my room could be cleaned while I was at dinner and they happily obliged and did a stellar job. Only negative was the valet is a bit slow and the QR code doesn't actually work. You scan and it sends a text asking for pickup and they reply the feature isn't available. I mentioned to the front desk and they advised it's a third party, but really that's passing the buck. You have control over your vendors, and that's what they are. read more

The "breakfast included" option I paid for on my reservation is very misleading. Upon check-in, I was given extensive info about the property but I had to inquire about the breakfast. That's when I was told there was a $30 limit which sounded reasonable, assuming that limit was per person, per night. When I got my statement, it showed a single $30 credit for our two night stay. Hardly enough to cover a cup of coffee for two adults. At the very least the front desk staff should communicate more effectively. read more

My boyfriend and I came here to visit family in San Antonio. This was a great hotel in the middle of everything. The amenities were great, Stacey at the rooftop pool was very attentive and kind and made our swimming experience relaxing. The room was clean and modern. The front desk staff was extremely kind and attentive which made the entire experience enjoyable. I wish I could give this place a full five stars but the only negative experience we had was with the valet. There were some issues with my car and Emily was unprofessional and gave us the run around when it came to gathering information about the status of my car. It took 40 minutes for them to even bring my boyfriend down the road to where the car was parked only for him to jump start it and get it going within 5 minutes. This may be long so buckle up. I am between and 3 and four, but the staff are so friendly that it pushed my review to a 4. Overall, nice location, rooms are big, bed is comfy, bathroom is nice. The room amenities are ok and not my favorite. There is a nespresso in the room along with 2 carbonated bottles of water for $7 each and 2 bottles of still water at no cost. The cleaning service did not replace the still water nor did they replace bathroom lotion, Q Tips and cotton balls. We were here for a conference and could not help getting the feeling as if they are not staffed for a large conference. The staff seemed overwhelmed and running on fumes. I blame the general manager. It is the small things. A new hotel is great, but can lose the gloss quickly. The hallways were dirty and paint chipped. Tables in the bar area were dirty. They have a small outdoor courtyard that was decorated in a winter wonderland theme (this was in December) with heat lamps except they did not turn on the heat lamps and it was cold. I was told if I sit outside, they would turn them on which they did not. For gosh sakes, turn on the heat and maybe people would use the space. We were there 4 days and I saw 2 men in those 4 days sitting outside. We were on the 10 floor which was nice if you use the pool, but not much view and so loud. It is unfortunate that there is so much construction and you can hear it in the room. On our last night, we were unable to get in our room. We were planning on meeting another couple on the river walk, but my coat, shoes and purse were in the room along with my husband's things. We requested they make room for the 4 of us at the hotel restaurant which they accommodated, but the only time available was 9pm. They gave us a $50 voucher and walked us to their cocktail bar. The bartender was annoyed and told the front desk person not to bring anyone else! I kid you not. I asked the bartender if he knew that we are locked out of our room and at that time if had been a hour. He apologized and changed his attitude. 2.5 hrs later, the maintenance man came to the bar to apologize and let us know that he had fixed the problem. His computer license to connect with the locks had expired!! This is at 8:45 pm so I am sure he was stressed and again a problem the GM should have been on top of. We met our friends and headed to our 9pm dinner. We were told our table was not ready so we waited till 9:45 until they sat us. I can only guess they were short staffed in the kitchen as there were empty tables and at least 4 servers. They were out of 2 bottles of wine we ordered and it took 30 minutes to get wine they had in stock. We ordered steak and none of us got the right doneness; however, the fish was cooked fine. My husband and I switched steaks as I want rare and he wanted medium rare. Our other friend ordered medium rare and he got medium well done. It is now 11pm and they fired up a new steak. They were out of onion rings and forgot our fries. It was a cluster at best. The restaurant comped 2 meals and the sides which was the right thing to do. When we finished our meal around midnight, it took our server 15 minutes to run our cards. Lastly, I included a video of what we listened to for 4 days. read more

Subject: The suite wasn't ready until over 2.5 hours after front desk stated it would be ready and two hours after check in time, employees were not truthful on a downgraded room they disguised as an upgrade, valet called us a vulgar word under his breath to my wife and I. My wife and I, newlyweds, were thrilled when our wedding party gifted us a stay in the Suite Hemisfair at the Kimpton Santo, a hotel we'd longed to experience since visiting its stunning rooftop bar overlooking Hemisfair Park. With its beautiful aesthetics and top-notch amenities, we'd eagerly anticipated this stay for weeks. On the morning of check-in, we requested an early check-in. The front desk staff said the suite wasn't ready but would be by 2:30 PM, which suited us as locals. We returned at 3:45 PM, hoping to relax by the pool before our dinner reservations. Instead, a front desk employee explained that the Suite Hemisfair required a special housekeeping inspection, which seemed odd. After a wait, they returned, saying the suite wouldn't be ready "for a while" and offered an "upgrade" to another room. When pressed, they admitted it was a standard room without a living room--a clear downgrade, not an upgrade. This deceptive framing was frustrating. By 4:30 PM, our plans to unwind from our hectic wedding weekend were fading. The staff then estimated the suite might be ready by 5:00 PM, citing a "priority guest" who hadn't vacated until 2:30 PM, making us feel like lesser priorities. For the next half-hour, we waited in our car near the loading area, expecting to unload our luggage soon. At 5:00 PM, the suite still wasn't ready. The employee offered a $50 food and drink voucher, which I took and returned to the car. There, a valet approached my wife, asking us to move our vehicle. When I mentioned we were still waiting for our room, he muttered a curse under his breath at us. That was the final straw. Furious, I returned inside, handed back the voucher, and canceled our reservation. Another guest at the desk was also waiting for a room past 5:00 PM, suggesting systemic issues. The unprofessionalism, deceptive "upgrade," and lack of transparency were unacceptable. It is heartbreaking honestly, as we love our city and wanted to experience another seemingly incredible destination to add to the pride we have for San Antonio. I rarely write reviews, but I must warn others: at the Kimpton Santo, don't expect to be treated as a priority. read more

We purchased a night at the kimpton's "Premium Spa King suite" to enjoy the final four weekend and celebrate my fiancés birthday. Upon initial arrival everything was great and the staff was very friendly (I would expect so for the price). We were offered complimentary valet with the room and took advantage of that. Once getting to the room we noticed the room was tremendously humid and hot, okay no problem the thermostat probably wasn't set. So we set the temperature to 66 (lowest temperature possible) and unwind, unpack and get situated. We showered and went out for some drinks, upon coming back we noticed the room was nowhere near the temperature at and was reading "68", which was no where near what it had felt like. I assumed it was because the fan was on "high" and not "auto" so we switch it over to auto and it sounds what could've been the fans finally turning on, We shower again and rinse the night off. A couple hours passed and we're already in bed and notice the room is still hot and hasn't changed much in temperature since we got there, mind you the time we checked in was around 10-11PM and the time now is 2-3AM. Upset, unsatisfied and uncomfortable we attempt to sleep it off. Tossing and turning throughout the night practically suffocating from the heat and humidity. Morning comes and we call to the front desk as there has yet to be a change in temperature, they tell us they'll put a "work order" in for maintenance to check it out. That's great and all but our visit had already come to an end as our checkout was at 2PM. 12Pm rolls on by and we shower, pack up and get ready to tackle the day. FINALLY at around 12:30-PM we start to feel a slight cool breeze, wow what a wonderful experience. We bring up the unforgettable & unfortunate situation to the guy up front, I believe his name was maljeit, asking for some form of discount as we paid a premium price of $500+ for a "premium experience" and received a far less experience. He says he'll talk to the manager and call us back in the day, okay that's fine. We ring valet to bring our vehicle up front (2022 Audi RS5) and take possession of our vehicle. Upon entering I noticed that some things were tampered with & looked through and there was grease along the windshield. With already have a terrible experience this just left a sour taste in my mouth. Luckily the car was set for "valet" mode otherwise I'm almost positive they would've taken our vehicle for a joy ride. About an hour later we receive our call from kimpton regarding our stay from, Maljiet, he explains that they would not be able to offer any form of reimbursement or accommodation for our poor experience other than a couple credits for our next stay! What a joke of an establishment, they expect a premium price for subpar experience and can't even accommodate for their mishaps. If I'm paying for the most expensive suite I expect everything to be checked and evaluated before letting any guest get established within the premises. Least to say we will not be giving the Kimpton another try or any more of our hard earned money, it's already hard enough with the economy and for such a renowned establishment to take advantage of its paying customers is nothing more than theft. This establishment should be ashamed of itself and the rates they charge. For the price you're better off staying at the double tree or Hilton, these people are negligent and untrustworthy in every aspect. read more

The food was delicious! The drinks we great. The staff was very professional and friendly.

Husband and I decided to stay at this new hotel downtown for a quick staycation. Upon arriving Valet was accommodating and offered to help with luggage. The man checking us in was very chatty, he let us know everything we needed to know about the hotel and then some. We kind of just wanted our keys but after observing him we noticed he was having trouble programming them. Overall the checkin process took about 10 minutes and that is with us being the only ones up there checking in. We make it to ourroom and get ready for dinner, we come back around 1030 and I notice our thermostat has not moved at all since we had left. I assumed I had not set it correctly so I mess with it again and wait patiently for it to cool down...nothing. Maintenance was sent up at 1120, and he thinks he figured it out but if there was any issue he would come back up. I'm thinking at this point it's almost midnight wouldn't it be best to offer us a different room if he isn't sure it's fixed? I call downstairs and they move us from the suite we paid for to their most basic room. I was not happy we weren't told that initially but we just wanted to sleep at that point so I didn't make a big fuss about it. They offered us a 2PM checkout for the disruption. Fast forward to 6am-9am we are woken up to a grinding sound coming from the A/c . I recorded it. I would have to get up to reset the thermostat so it would not make that noise. I tell the woman at front desk what we had experienced thinking she would send someone up to look at it but instead said the manager already took $50 off your stay and next time we just won't put you on the 9th floor since you encountered problems on that floor with the a/c. What? Ok. Sleep deprived we go back up To room pack our things to head out and my husband mentions he likes the pillows, duvet, and mattress. It was very comfortable! So I start stripping the bed to find the brand all the items are. As I'm messing with the duvet and untuck it from bottom we notice short and mid length curly hair on the bed and also what looked like small dried blood stains. I just know looking at those sheets there is not way they were changed properly and we slept on them. My husband is bald and I long straight hair. We were disgusted and just over all disappointed I wanted to like this property, but I think there are a lot of kinks they need to work out first. Rooms with A/C issues 946&904 read more
