Before I called to check in with the remarkably helpful friendly staff, I knew I'd love this PAW friendly hotel. Often spending as little as possible on a place to lay my head, I determined to splurge visiting my son, his wife, and my first grandson on Thanksgiving. Unfortunately the beautiful bar and Ocho restaurant attached to the hotel were closed, but happily I had visited both on previous visits. This is a BOUTIQUE HOTEL. If you're accustomed to Holiday Inn Express, and cannot imagine any alternative, then DO Not Book Here.

I Absolutely Adore this Venue! Everything h from Start to Finish is very well thought out. Hospitality of the Hotel is Superb! The Food is Nothing Short of Phenomenal. The Tequila and Tassels Show is My Favorite! Also beyond excited about the shows extending into Ocho

For our 10th anniversary we decided to stay local and enjoy downtown San Antonio Cons: -our room was off the lobby and windows facing the main entrance way. Sound privacy is not an option. You can hear everything happening in the lobby and all around. -Housekeeping accidentally walked in our room an hour after we checked in ( didn't knock just walked in) -the toilet clogged and "no one was available to fix until maybe 10am or 10:30" so my husband asked for a plunger and the housekeeper gave it to the front desk to give the plunger to my husband. -Dirty windows in our room full of windows Pros: -Boutique old hotel w charm -The basement lounge/bar is romantic and eclectic -the restaurant OCHO is very delish and pretty -small room is still spacious and a lot of natural light

I loved this place. We went for an in-town anniversary getaway, and truly enjoyed the atmosphere. The gals at the front desk, Edie and Jordyn, were very nice, very funny, and fun to talk to. Very pleasant and professional, also! The atmosphere is just amazing. Hardwood floors that creak, real keys for your room on a brass key ring. Nice robes, cool fridges...just a neat place. Glad we splurged!

Great hotel. Enjoyed my time here. However, went to the bar and an older gentleman and his date were sitting on the couch when we were at the bar. Great drinks by the way. I happen to glance over and he had pulled down her top and exposed her breast and leaned down and started to suck on her nipple. I have never been so offended in my life. For those of you who know me i am very out spoken and i kept my mouth shut. Basically that is very trashy. Maybe she was a prostitute. Overall, nice historic hotel. Only downfall is the trash at the bar. I hope they see my review. Three stars based on my bar experience.

    Cool lobby chairs.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Havana during a recent business trip to San Antonio, and it was one of the nicest hotel experiences I've had in quite awhile. Located near SA's epic and popular Riverwalk, the Hotel Havana has a Cuba-meets-Texas vibe with a slight hint of "this place could be haunted" (but not in a bad way). There's eclectic furniture throughout, high ceilings, and beautifully decorated public spaces that carry through with the aforementioned vibe. My queen room was spacious, yet cozy. It had all the amenities, except for a coffee pot (though 24/7 coffee was available in the lobby). It also boasted was was definitely the largest in-room cash bar I've ever seen, including an almost house-sized refrigerator filled with anything you can imagine! The snack selection was no slouch either, though I managed to limit myself to just one bag of Hippeas during my entire stay. The bed was comfortable, and the shower hot. The hotel-provided earplugs were appreciated, though I didn't find myself needing them. I did use the lovely in-room robe, which is always a nice perk to a hotel stay. I also loved that the Riverwalk was accessible just across the street from the main entrance. It was a lovely 10-minute stroll to the main Riverwalk action with all the restaurants and bars - close enough to enjoy but not too close to as to affect noise levels around the hotel. I would definitely stay at Hotel Havana again!

Frozen in time, place is amazing. Nothing like it. Within walking distance of Tobin Center for the performing arts, and museum of fine arts

I decided to write this review because I feel like people should know what they are spending their money on. We recently spent a weekend here and booked directly. We paid around $500 a night in total. I am shocked at how much it was for how poor the hotel is. We could have gone so many other much nicer places for the money. This hotel feels like its more of a motel quality. Its designed to be cute, but it looks more like a fast flip. Floors were chipped, light fixtures had cobwebs on them, the pillows seemed really lumpy and old, everything seemed dirty, there is no coffee maker or kettle in the room, not even a box of tissues. They do leave you two individual tissues on top of the toilet though. Our room was on the second floor and the noise was not too bad but the creaking from someone walking around at 5 am was loud enough to wake me up. My cousin's room was on the first floor and oddly looked into the restaurant which was awkward. She said it was very loud. My husband went to get water to fill up our bottles from the bar and was told it was for bar customers only. I will never stay here again and actively tell people to avoid it. I forgot to take photos of our room but grabbed some from my cousins.

This one feels like Liz's red headed step child. The staff is over the top amazing but the accommodations are just not the same as the other hotels in the Bunkhouse family. :(

Did not stay at the hotel but came to visit the Havana bar after dinner at ocho. Intimate, chill boutique-y vibe which feels like an old school speakeasy! We ordered the mezcal margarita which was amazing. Kudos to Kim and will visit again when in the area

Welcome to the hotel called "Havana", Such a lovely place, Such a lovely place. Plenty of room at the hotel named "Havana". Any time of year... you can find it here. We found the place, nearly missed it, Behind a Mercedes Benz. They got a lotta Texas hipsters... And quite a few old hens! How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat. Some dance to remember, some dance to forget. So I called up the Captain, 'Please bring me my wine'... He said, 'we haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty-nine' And still those voices are calling from far away, Wake you up in the middle of the night, Just to hear them say: Welcome to the hotel called "Havana", Such a lovely place, Such a lovely place. They livin' it up at the hotel named "Havana". What a nice surprise, bring your alibis... Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back to the place I was before. 'Relax' said the night man, 'We are programmed to receive. You can check out any time you like, But you can never leave!'

It was our Yelp home base for Yelp Spring Break, San Antonio! It was one of the host hotels with SA Food Tours stopping at Ocho on-site. What I loved about our stay: - A smaller intimate boutique hotel. - Unique gift items for sale, such as the serapi robes that are provided in-room. - Private parking lot for guests in a busy city. - Foodie room service options from Ocho Restaurant on-site. - End of the Riverwalk location. What I didn't love about our stay: - Noisy occupants late at night in the hallways and their voices carry up the stairwell. - Room service trays were layed out for full days without being collected. - Our room did not receive service on our last day, unsure if housekeeping is off on Sundays? - Only provided a cash option for unique gift items above, as credit machine processor was down for two days. - Needed more than 5 hangers for two guests per room. We did not spend a great amount of time in the room (we were in the city for YSB afterall). Overall, we were satisfied with the amenities provided, cleanliness of the hotel, and comfort of the room. The hotel staff was always friendly and responsive. We weren't upset and were able to go with the flow. However, we do believe these minor flaws could be improved very easily with the help of management! #HotelHavana #YSBSA2017 #HostHotel #LoveandDidntLove

The Instagram page looks WAY better than the real life visual. We normally stay in a commonly recognized hotel but I wanted to try something more personal. I literally had to listen to my husband fuss the entire 3 day stay. The 1st issue was a $200 per night deposit in case you destroyed or damage something. 2nd issue the room rate was around $275 per night. Is that unreasonable absolutely not. That's a luxury room rate. The hotel is REALLY old so I wasn't shocked when we walked up the stairs and every step it creaked or that the hotel looks bright and vibrant on social but it's dark and drab! Trust me they are working wonders with the photographer controlling their social. What I was shocked about was a cotton robe hanging in my room that cost $75 but there is dirt in the corner on the floor where said robe was hung. The bathroom was so outdated! The tiles were chipped and the paint was peeling off the cabinets. The shower curtain was supposed to be white it was beige but I can tell they tired to get it white. It had bleach stains all over the curtain. The biggest offense was checking in at 3 pm and noticing dirty dishes at the room door next to us and the dishes still being there 2 days later. I had to go tell the desk agent about it. Not sure why when the very 1st thing you see when you get off the elevator or stairs is THAT room door. We had to request our room be cleaned after it wasn't done after our 1st night. It was about 5 pm when they cleaned our room once in a 3 night stay. On our 2nd night we decided to go to the restaurant bar attached to the hotel. Super dark kinda like a cave with ripped up leather furniture that looks like it belongs in the dumpster but drinks are starting at $15. The bartender did NOT engage me and kinda gave me a stale face when I tried to make small talk! I still tipped him. It's what I do! What I didn't like was that HE decided how much I was going to tip him by simply not offering me my change back. I figured he was really down bad and that's how he gets his tips. Ok... I'm a glutton for punishment apparently because we went BACK the next night after being out for the day and dinner and wanted one last drink. Whew! I made a mistake. The young man they had tending bar that night literally stood in the corner like a mute. It was the craziest thing I ever experienced. It was a utter disappointment and a lesson learned. Let my husband pick the hotel! The plus was the night agent who worked. She was so sweet and really helpful!

Our experience began with the greeting from the front desk clerk desk attendant, Jacob. He was awesome! Super attentive to our needs, friendly, and personable. At the spa, Our massage therapists were top rate! Roxi and Sera were very responsive to our aches and pains. We came in wound up and left ready to relax. Back at the hotel, the bar tenders are definitely skilled mixologists. Eric makes a mean Manhattan, his specialty is an old fashioned, but I saw everyone enjoying all the other drinks he made as well! Antlers Lodge is something special! The chef, Joseph Lambert, and his staff at the restaurant are masters of their craft! So humble but so masterful. The food was as top flight as any restaurant we have had in at the best New York restaurants or abroad... and this place truly represents San Antonio at its elevated best.

This place was amazing, and all the staff were incredibly polite and friendly. We ate at Antlers, a fine dining restaurant, the most incredible ribeye, and crème brûlée we've ever had. We also went to the Long Bar and had a delicious burger and brisket mac & cheese. They gave us a complimentary upgrade to a patio room. Our package included free breakfast each morning at the café. There was a beautifully stocked breakfast buffet. There were fire pits outside every night. My complaints: the general store with $8 water bottles. No microwave in the room to heat up leftovers & our bathroom was VERY small. All in all, we will definitely be returning!!!

Christmas Stay at La Mansión on the River Walk-a must holiday experience!…read more The hotel has an unbeatable historic location right in the heart of the River Walk, which really shines during Christmas. Being able to step right out into all the holiday lights and activity is magical. Ironically, because of the location, the boat tours go by about 30x a day you and you will hear the Selena bridge story about as many times... but that's part of the River Walk experience If you stay in a River Walk room - most likely it will be a shared balcony. It was interesting, kinda like being at the pool in terms of privacy but honestly a bit more separation would have been appreciated-even a plant. The hotel itself is a grand old dame--and it definitely shows its age. Behind the beautiful holiday decorations, the floors felt dirty and really needed a deep cleaning or vacuuming. Every time someone walked into the elevator you could feel the floor drop and shift. The adobe-style architecture is charming and floors not so much-they slope noticeably, and the carpet has divots and wear that add to the "creaky" feeling. Overall, the place feels a bit tired. That said, the staff truly try hard, which deserves credit. The hotel has undeniable character and doesn't feel like a chain hotel at all. If you can overlook the obvious maintenance and cleanliness issues, it's still iconic and charming in its own way. Ratings: Cleanliness: (2/5) Staff Effort: (3/5) Location: (5/5) A lovely location with tons of history--just needs some serious TLC to match its reputation.
