Went for the roof top bar and jazz music. The two guys playing were talented and had good humor. Disappointed with the food options. We ordered some fries and they came out burnt. Also requested a mocktail and it was just mediocre. Heavy on the soda water and not a lot of flavor. Great views though!

The Fairmount hotel rooftop treated my friends and I well! The drinks were delicious and strong, and the bartenders were extremely friendly. We were branching out from what we'd usually drink, and they were great as asking us what our palate was, and what we wanted to try, and would personalize drinks for us throughout the night. Went from wine to espresso martinis to personalized drinks. The appetizers and a charcuterie board was set out. Super smart of them to have little fans to keep flies off the food, which I appreciate as a clean freak! The staff was also kind, welcoming us into the hotel and being gentlemen both at the valet and in the elevator. The view is also nice, and sets a great atmosphere if you're here on a date or with your girlfriends. Quiet enough to have a good conversation, plus it being outdoors is a plus during Covid-friendly times!

I've stayed here a few times. This time I stayed in room 215 which was a deluxe king plus. Comfy bed, expresso machine, complimentary Fiji water and best of all NONNA Italian Restaurant. You can dine in or they will deliver to your door.. there is a downstairs bar , fresh herbs in mostly everything they make. Sprigs of mint, basil, and a vast amount of liquers. They even have house made syrups. Thery are undergoing renovations in some areas. The whole modernism thing i get it, wood and metals. Warm nuetral colors accented by vivid hues...However the rooms before reconstruction were absolutely lovely. There is an upstairs bar outside ( patio bar) There is also Silo prime and Nonnas for the best rigatoni and carbonara youve ever tasted in your life.

We went there on a Sunday evening. Wonderful service by bartender Zach. 360 view of downtown San Antonio. Just had a round of drinks after our dinner at Nonna Osteria.

My friends and I had a nice time at Fairmount. We got there right after sunset so it was a bit chilly, but the bartender was kind to turn the heaters on. For the table we ordered the Fried Asparagus Risotto, Akaushi Beef Meatball, and the Artisanal Cheese Platter, our favorite! However, everything was delicious. We had espresso martinis that were very tasty and a surprise drink. Everything was reasonably priced for the downtown area. The bartender was very kind and made the experience that much better. I will definitely be returning to Fairmount.

Wow! This place has incredible views!! We came soon after dining at Silos Prime. It was a rainy evening but this did not stop us from going to the rooftop bar. We went with their dirty martinis and beer. Because of the weather, seating was plentiful. I see myself returning to this bar on a nice evening. I'm sure this place gets packed on weekends and I can definitely see why!! It's definitely a place to check out on a nice night.

Stayed here for three nights with my 11 year old son as we explored San Antonio. We had the best time. The room was gorgeous, as is the hotel overall. It is comfy and feels super fancy. Everyone we encountered who worked there was very nice. it is a very old hotel and has some quirks - for example, our floors were a little slanted, and the key to open the door had to be finagled a bit to unlock the door. BUT it was pretty cool to have a hefty, antique-looking room key instead of a plastic card. Everything (but the door lock) was updated, the linens were lovely, the temperature was comfortable and adjustable, the shower pressure was wonderful, there were huge windows with shutters that opened, making the room so bright and cheery, and the room didn't smell weird. The one thing that could've bothered us was the nighttime noise level. It was pretty noisy at night - car noise, people, footsteps above us. Luckily we just had white noise playing pretty loudly on each side of the bed and we were able to drown that out and sleep really well. This was a great home base for us. We ate dinner at the italian restaurant downstairs, Nonna, and it was delicious and the service was great. We ordered pizza from Dough about a block away, and it was very tasty and super fast. There is a really cool playground behind Dough with lots of ropes to climb. We had an easy walk to Tower of the Americas and the River Walk. We ate breakfast at Shilo's twice, which is just a few blocks away and was super tasty with good service (and very reasonably priced). It was also a quick walk to the mall thing that has Lego Discovery. Using the valet was easy and quick. It took about 12 minutes to drive to Toyota stadium, 30 minutes to Natural Bridge Caverns, and 15 minutes to Get Out of my Escape Room (which is amazing if you are looking for an escape room to try). Having the Fairmount as a home base really made our trip top-notch.

Second stop on our first annual Christmas Eve pub crawl. Rooftop bar accessed only by an elevator in the lobby of the hotel. Maybe you need a reservation? We didn't have one and there was no problem. The weather was amazing for this time of year, sometimes it happens! My husband stuck with an old fashioned and me the bartenders favorite...which also happened to be an old fashioned. The drinks were small but delicious! But the best part was the view....amazing! On to the next stop!

WORST HOTEL. DO NOT STAY HERE! Let's start off with the room door was hard to open, I had to ask a couple staying down the hall to help. I understand that this is an older building but the decor literally looks dingy. Everything was dusty, the bathroom (sigh) the bathroom was disgusting. Rust, mold, dirty. The toilet barely flushed, the shower head looked like I was going to need a tetanus shot after, the sink handles were so rusted they wouldn't turn all the way, mold on the shower curtain. No mini fridge in the room, No pool. Their "free wifi" had NO SIGNAL. The TV kept lagging and glitching. Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied for the price I paid. I might as well of stayed at the Red Roof Inn, same experience for a 1/4 of the price. When everything around the hotel is so upscale and renovated I expected more.

Excellent service and beautiful view! Outstanding in so many ways. The seafood tower was to die for and the drinks were so fun!

My husband booked this hotel because of its convenient location, close to the River Walk and Alamo and most important, its in a very old and full of history building. We both really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean with the most comfortable beds and pillows and the very fun and convenient breakfasts and dinners/drinks. The beds and pillows were so comfy, we slept for almost 12 hours our first night... The foods, buffet style, were good, with many options. (They are comfort foods, if you expect high-end kind, it's not for you...) The customer services were what we appreciated and enjoyed the most. All of the staff, from the front desk hosts, to the managers, bartender (Annette), food service group... everyone was so friendly, nice, and welcoming. *The only "issue" that we experienced was the super loud, seemed like hours long, of car honkings, engines noice... of 1 night. It was still AMAZING and left me wishing that I could stay longer! My King Room was huge and ultra clean and comfortable! I really wanted to eat at Ostra again this visit, because I saw redfish on the menu and wondered if it was really as good as my memory of it. I was initially bummed that Ostra was closed for a private event during my stay, BUT my disappointment quickly turned to excitement when I saw the same dish offered on the room service menu. YES!! I could go on for many paragraphs about how great our stay was at Hotel Emma but I will keep it short as this is something you just need to experience. First off, from checking in to, room service, to drinks in the Library, to our checkout, the staff was fantastic, friendly, and there to assist with absolutely anything you needed or wanted. Even the room service staff was top notch! The rooms were beautiful and well set up for comfort and luxury. Even the bathroom was luxurious and inviting. We enjoyed checking out the Private Library while having cocktails and learning even more about this fascinating building from the new and friendly Concierge. The pool was beautiful, warm and inviting and offered an interesting view from one of the upper floors. The Hotel bar offered some great perks for guest, private upstairs access away from the crowds, top notch service and attention from the staff and the opportunity to spend some time sipping cocktails on the couch in private in an old 28,000 gallon beer finishing tank. Having coffee and pastries on a beautiful outdoor patio in the morning was also another great opportunity. There was close access to many different places in the Peal Brewing square area adjacent to Hotel Emma including a great morning street fair on Sunday. Hotel Emma is the only 5 Star Hotel that we are aware of in Texas and also provided an outstanding Michelien rated restaurant for dinner (separate review). Over all, we can not find one thing we were unhappy with during our stay at Hotel Emma, other than the fact that our stay was far too short. If you are looking for the ultimate in Hotel stays/service, you MUST take some time and come for a stay. We will definitely be returning to Hotel Emma on our next trip to San Antonio.

It truly is an exceptional property - check in was quick and easy and the room was stunning. It kept the integrity of the original building with exposed concrete walls and floors and beautiful lights and decor. The bathroom is also stunning and the shower is the best hotel shower I have ever encountered with lovely lavender shower gels and lotions. It does however lack counter space which makes it a little difficult to get ready as there is nowhere to place make up etc. Each night there is a traditional turndown service where they bring you fresh water, ice and macarons from the local bakery which is a lovely treat. The hotel also offers free coffee delivered to your room or available in the downstairs library and comes with two tokens for afternoon cocktails! The hotel bar is beautiful with delicious cocktails and bar snacks and the hotel is surrounded by some of the best restaurants in San Antonio at the Pearl. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the fact that the room was very noisy and it was difficult to sleep. They provide eye masks and ear plugs at turndown so likely are aware! A lot is unavoidable due to the structure of the hotel - the exposed concrete, high ceilings make everything echo so when guest were passing you could hear every word echo back but the room also had noisy pipes with a running water sounds all evening and a fridge that was so , so loud it made sleep difficult ! That's a deal breaker for me as the one thing I need to do in a hotel especially when there for a work trip - is sleep! Other than that it is a stunning property snd certainly one of the most beautiful properties I have ever stayed in !

Being able to step right out into all the holiday lights and activity is magical. Ironically, because of the location, the boat tours go by about 30x a day you and you will hear the Selena bridge story about as many times... but that's part of the River Walk experience If you stay in a River Walk room - most likely it will be a shared balcony. It was interesting, kinda like being at the pool in terms of privacy but honestly a bit more separation would have been appreciated-even a plant. The hotel itself is a grand old dame--and it definitely shows its age. Behind the beautiful holiday decorations, the floors felt dirty and really needed a deep cleaning or vacuuming. Every time someone walked into the elevator you could feel the floor drop and shift. The adobe-style architecture is charming and floors not so much-they slope noticeably, and the carpet has divots and wear that add to the "creaky" feeling. Overall, the place feels a bit tired. That said, the staff truly try hard, which deserves credit. The hotel has undeniable character and doesn't feel like a chain hotel at all. If you can overlook the obvious maintenance and cleanliness issues, it's still iconic and charming in its own way. Ratings: Cleanliness: (2/5) Staff Effort: (3/5) Location: (5/5) A lovely location with tons of history--just needs some serious TLC to match its reputation.
