We were incredibly impressed with the quality and variety of merchandise in the store and Jeff Bamburg, proprietor and luthier/craftsman, was a delight. He provided excellent cigar recommendations, participated in a "spirited" discussion about the whisky on hand, and was deeply knowledgeable about the guitars he creates ~ and the community he loves. I will definitely return and would encourage others to visit this marvelous mercantile for unique, specialized gifts their loved ones will surely treasure. Frankly I was embarrassed to bring the bike in, but the mechanic (I'm sorry I forgot your name,2/26 around 10 am) was SO kind and didn't make me feel like an idiot, actually showed me what was going on. Then gave me some things to watch out for and advised some service I should ask my LBS to do. Cleaned up my bike, put some lube on the chain and when I asked what I owe him he told me to have a great day and ride safe. You don't get service like this often especially from a bike shop when margins are tight. Thank you, sir!

Absolute used to be so friendly and a welcoming environment. My most recent visit has been quite…read morethe opposite. When going to look at helmets we were shammed into throwing away one we had brought in. We brought in an old helmet to compare sizes to a new one and when asking for the right size the employee shamed us for still having the old helmet despite telling him multiple times it hadn't been used in years. The helmet was sentimental as it was my moms first helmet for when she started mountain biking and the employee continued to throw it away. I wanted to look at a different store for a helmet for myself (Absolutes competitor) but they were sold out so I came back to buy one from Absolute. When I came back in the same employee was rude/caddy making a comment along the line of "What they didn't have what you were looking for" which rubbed me the wrong way and made me less happy spending my money there. After this comment he proceeded to attempt to upsell me into buying a different grade helmet and another bike (despite all of our bikes being right outside) but at this point I had just picked one that seemed it would fit best. Upon checking out I asked if the stickers on the counter were free or not and a different employee proceeded to be smart with me. He sarcastically said if I took a hundred stickers he would charge me $100. As many people from salida know stickers typically do cost in storefronts and I was asking to be respectful.
