I grew up with shotguns and rifles, but not pistols. Even though I've shot my 357 several times, I know more about it and pistols with magazines, vs. my revolver. Lots of good information and discussion surrounding the CC laws/rules/regs. I'd definitely recommend this class with Ava if you're interested in applying for your concealed carry permit and being more comfortable with that decision.

I thought that perhaps the instructor was just cutting it close and would open up at 9am. While waiting in my car, I checked to make sure I had the correct date, time, and address. I did. A little weird that Elite Firearms would direct me to Spartan Defense as the location for their course. It would appear they use the same instructor. Regardless, no one came. The store didn't open. And no one contacted me to tell me the class was cancelled or moved. I called Elite Firearms, but got no answer. I even drove to Elite Firearms to see if maybe the class was at their location and my email just had an erroneous address. But Elite Firearms was closed too. The owner called me later that day to apologize and offer a refund and free class. I still haven't gotten the refund (or an email with proof of refund issued), but it's only been a day. Will update if I get it. Regardless, this doesn't seem like a reliable business, so I'll have to go elsewhere. I'm a shift worker with a rotating schedule, so it's tough to line up classes, events, etc. I can't afford to adjust my calendar and sleep schedule and then have the class fall through with no notice.

Their classes are small - not the typical 30-40 in a class where you listen but don't learn. I did not have the opportunity to do the written test as we needed to start shooting. I fired 50 rounds. 32 were in the center target, 3 short of the 35 needed. In front of the class the instructor announced, "you failed". Not once, but 3 times. I asked ,what can I do? Again he stated, "you failed." I was there Sunday for a CCW refresher class which we all know is ridiculous but the instructors for the class made it a little less painful and were really great to work with. I got there just after opening so I could get in a few rounds before class and spoke with a young lady behind the counter who was a pleasure to talk to and quite knowledgeable. I chose this location solely because their website says: "Westminster Arms is dedicated to the safety of all those in our community. We believe the 2nd Amendment applies to all law-abiding Americans regardless of the color of their skin, LGBTQ or income level, etc. We value your business and will work hard to earn it. 'An armed minority is harder to oppress'" I dig that a gun shop has this stance as it aligns with my personal views. The sales people are very friendly though a bit solemn sometimes. Once you get them talking they are very open though. They seem to have some nice pieces in stock if you want to buy from them directly but if you need a FFL. This is the place.
