Sam is such a nice guy and did a great job fixing wooden blinds in our bedroom around the holidays. I was surprised that he was able to come out the week of Christmas and not only that, was able to come out within an hour of my call. He took the blinds with him, repaired them and we were able to get them back right after New Year's. I am certain that we would have had them returned sooner, but the holidays got in the way. The cost was a bit higher than I imagined, but trying to find the same set of blinds to match the ones used throughout our home seemed a bit daunting. He offered some low cost alternatives and suggested getting paper blinds in the meantime (all of $5). Frankly, having our old blinds back and repaired was worth it. It's always tricky finding contractors you can trust. Sam is definitely trustworthy, gives you an honest quote and if you don't like it, he will suggest some alternatives for you. You can't beat that! read more

Sam is efficient, professional and honest! Need I say more. This is the second time I've had to have our blind repair. Do not waste your time calling anyone else! Recommend Broke Blinds without hesitation! read more

Sam wasn't able help me with my problem because it wasn't a type of blinds he works on, but he took the time to promptly return my call and offer suggestions on possible fixes I could explore. Really appreciate that! Not many businesses take the time to return calls when it's regarding something they don't work on. If I have another problem they can help with, I would not hesitate to call them again. read more

I use yelp exclusively when I look for service providers and Broken Blinds, Sam, is the reason. Initially he came out to fix some wooden woven blinds which have never sat correctly. I believe he was here for less than an hour, showed me how they work, what to look out for, and now they are actually better than new. Before he could leave I showed him some old blinds in our bedroom and he said a lot of it would still be under warranty. He just left and they also look better than new. He is clean, on time, or early, and very through. Thanks Sam read more

We have used Sam twice in the years since we have lived in our house and each time we are always pleased with his service. He repairs our Hunter Douglas shades back to working order and gets it done quickly. The last repair was done during COVID- he did wear a mask while in my home and did most of the repair in his truck. We cannot recommend him enough and would not hesitate to use him again. read more

Sam did an excellent job repairing our Hunter Douglas blinds (that were 15 1/2 years old btw). Great service and great turn around time. Highly recommended! read more

Fast and easy and professional! He made an appointment with me and met me on time and took care of an old blind cord in two minutes.

Sam Michaelson of Broken Blinds was prompt, knowledgeable and repaired my Hunter Douglas blinds efficiently and professionally. He also took the time to show me how to replace the batteries in the future. I recommend him highly and will definitely call him again if I need further blind repair. Great guy! read more

A while back Sam helped us with a broken motorized roller shade. He made the process of getting it shipped out to Hunter Douglas seamless and we got it back in no time. This time around, we had a broken cord tensioner. Hunter Douglas sent us some replacement parts but wasn't really able to help us and told us we needed to get it professional repaired, so we called Sam. It turned out to be an easy fix and he said he could come to our home to fix it or could walk me through it on the phone. I opted to be walked through it to of course save us some money! He was so helpful and that was very kind of him to spend the time to walk me through it. I am very grateful for his time that he gave. read more

Sam took the time to explain everything he was doing and let us know pricing before moving forward. Definitely worth it. Our blinds work nicely now and he was very efficient with his time! Highly recommend! Thank you Sam! JJ read more

Sam is a great resource, all the work is clearly explained and done very professionally

I am absolutely floored. Sam is absolutely 100% the real deal. We were told there would be a consultation fee for his coming to our rental condo to check out the mechanisms on the three broken honeycomb shades we had, plus whatever the repairs would come out to. We were totally fine with that, given his reputation. He came over today. When he realized he wouldn't be able to fix any of them, not only was he totally upfront about it, but he said he wouldn't charge us ANYTHING for the consult because there was nothing he could do for them. Sam, you're amazing! Thank you for your time and your honesty. read more

I actually didn't end up needing to use Sam for my repair (the manufacturer ended up standing behind the product), but I was impressed enough by the way he conducted himself to write this review. I can't imagine you'd go wrong using this guy. When he suggested a likely repair cost a bit higher than I had expected (no doubt because of my lack of knowledge as to what was actually involved in making it), he more than gladly offered to try over the phone to help me diagnose and fix the problem. What a guy! He'll certainly be the one I call if ever I do need to find someone to do a blind repair. read more

Sam is a gem! He really helped me out of a "blind" bind. I'm happy to be the 27th 5-Star Yelp review because he truly deserves it. We corresponded by phone and text and the whole experience was effortless. Thank you for your patience and wonderful service, Sam. If I have problems with my blinds again, you're on my speed dial!! read more

Sam, owner of broken blinds is going through some business changes, which can be at times very challenging I'm sure. This didn't stop Sam from delivering above and beyond customer service, integrity and pure generosity to me during these busy and hectic holiday seasons! I have sent 2, and will have a third pair of gorgeous blinds repaired due to an extremely naughty puppy who chewed the chords and ladders to smithereens. Sam has done a wonderful job with repair and like I said incredible customer service. Do not think twice before handing your blinds over to Sam, he is a gem and delivers old school, real service with pride in his work which is so sorely missing in today's world. 10 stars if I could! Now, I'm off to buy some 'bitter apple' to spray my repaired blinds down and keep that rambunctious puppy away! read more

Sam is a genius about blinds and a very generous and caring service provider. He coached me through a complex problem with an old model of Hunter-Douglas motorized blind and I will be forever grateful to his kindness and wisdom. They don't make vendors like Sam anymore! Sam is the best! Getting ready to list my home and realized I needed to get a cord replaced on some Roman shades. Sam was able to schedule me in within a couple of days and even arrived on time. After fixing the broken shade, and in a timely manner I might add, he repaired a loose bracket on another shade (at no additional cost)! I would highly recommend Sam and Broken Blinds for any of your blinds and shade repair needs. read more

Sam of Broken Blinds was awesome! He was on time and was very professional. He was able to remove my blinds and fix them on my driveway inside his brand new work truck. He has all the correct tools and parts to get the job done. We are fortunate to have a guy like him in our community since it is hard to find people that repair blinds on the spot. His fee for the service was very reasonable and saved me from spending alot more money on new blinds. I rate him A+. You won't be disappointed. Gary P. read more

Loved doing business with this company. They were super efficient, friendly, professional, did a wonderful job in just a day or two. I would take my broken blinds to them again any time and recommend them wholeheartedly. Dena G. Irvine read more

After living at my house for 11 years I had mostly broken blinds. I got quotes to replace them but just simply out of my budget. I was referred to Sam by another blinds company and he was able to fix all the blinds for fraction of the cost. Thanks Sam! read more

Sam was so great! Very knowledgeable and professional. Instead of having to get 2 new sets of blinds we were able to salvage our original ones! We are so very pleased with how they turned out. I highly recommend Sam and his services! read more

Sam was quick to respond to my inquiry and very friendly. He arrived on time and fixed both of our Hunter Douglas blinds that needed to be restrung. He also gave us some great advice on the best way to take care of them and the best batteries to use. We will definitely use him in the future and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of blind repair. read more

Sam is a great guy and a pleasure to work with! He professionally repaired and restrung 6 big, old floor-to-ceiling wooden blinds so they work easily and evenly. Several months later, the locking mechanism on one failed and fell apart. I called Sam and he was able to come the next day to do the repair, which required restringing again. He said the product should not have failed, and he did not charge for the visit or the repair. Bottom line, I used him originally because of all the positive reviews, and was completely satisfied. He stands behind his products and his workmanship, so I'm here to add to his list of satisfied customers. Thanks, Sam! read more

Let me begin with promptness. Not only we they, (Sam and Mike), on time they were 2 days early which suited us perfectly. Before I started researching blinds on the internet I had no clue that a fabulous company like Broken Blinds existed. That a company could come into my home and service my broken blinds. This company has it all integrity, professionalism, sense of humor and saved me a bundle. I thought I was going to have to replace all of my blinds. Sam could have told me they all needed to be restrung and I would have believed him. But that was not the case, aside from one blind that needed to be restrung, changing the mechanisms did the trick. We highly recommend Broken Blinds. We feel blessed to have found them. If you have broken blinds call them...now! read more

Sam just left our home after repairing our 26 year old blinds. Initially, I called him, described our blinds and he ordered the parts. He came to our home, repaired the blinds in his van workshop, and left in less than 30 minutes. He fixed some "extras" on our blinds and gave us a website reference should we need it in the future. Knowledgeable, efficient, helpful, and personable. read more

Sam is great. He came, gave his assessment and rstimate and provided me with his advice based on my thoughts. After few unsuccessful phone calls to Hunter Douglas customer service to repair my window shades, only later on find out that it is no longer under warranty, I turned to Yelp to find another option and found this business. From the get go, Sam was very pleasant and professional in giving me a quote over the phone, punctual in returning calls and showing up on appointment time.. His fees consist consist of travel time to your place and the repair itself. I can't say how fair is his travel time as I have never compared it to others but I know his repair fee is very competitive to others. I definitely recommend Sam if you need any window covering repairs at the convenience of your home. read more

Sam is great!!! So professional and courteous. Plus, he takes care of everything for you. Since I had already uninstalled the blinds, I could emailed him some pictures of my blind and manufacturing information. He diagnosed the problem, contacted Hunter Douglas about covering the repair under the warranty and ordered the part. So, he was ready to go when he made the house call. He fixed my blind (yeah!) and installed a better cord tensioner/mount. Only took about a half hour. I recommend Sam to everyone. read more

Sam is so responsive/kind, honest, and does excellent quality work! Sam came to my home to restring a large Hunter Douglas blind and treated it as if the blind was going in his own home. He wanted it to be absolutely perfect and wanted to make sure that I was 100 percent happy with his work. He got it perfect the first time, service was fast and easy. I would not trust anyone else with my blinds. Sam knows what he is doing and genuinely cares that the work is of quality and the client is happy. I have since used him for a second time and will keep going back. Great experience with this company! read more

Sam from Broken Blinds was prompt, professional and completed the job of replacing the wand on my blinds in less than 30 minutes. I do expect to pay a premium for inhome service but one blind $140.00 repair charge. I believe in paying a fair price for service but this is out of line. Shame on me for not asking about the charges before allowing service. I will definitely use another service in the future. read more

Sam returned my call on the same day and was able to come out to my house in just two days. Sam is truly exceptional! He is professional, clearly experienced and most importantly, is very solution oriented! I had a list of numerous broken blinds for Sam to look at and he was able to get them all working in no time! I don't think you could ask for a more competent person to work in your home. I would highly recommend Sam for any blind related issues you might be having! Thank you, Sam! read more

Sam fixed 7 of my hunterdouglas continuous loop honeycomb shades. I am very satisfied with his work because he was honest and I felt he didn't scam me for unnecessary repairs . He told me that only 3 of the blinds needed re-stringing and charged me less for untangling the strings of the other 4 blinds. I was thinking I had to re-string all 7. The estimates I received to send the blinds back to hunterdouglas for repairs were a little bit more than what I ended up paying and it would have taken a longer turnaround time. I would recommend Sam to my friends. read more

I had just one broken blind, and called Sam based on the reviews here. His message said that he was booked for several weeks, so I hung up and tried several other places. No one wanted to come just to repair one blind. So I called Sam back and scheduled an appointment. Turned out he was able to schedule me a little earlier than 3 weeks. He was with waiting for. I have older blinds from a company no longer in business, but Sam was still able to fix them. He was courteous and professional. I would highly recommend. read more
