When I can (usually during vacation time) I drive up from San Antonio solely to visit Broken Arrow Rock Shop. I've never found another lapidary anywhere that I like as much. It has a very positive feeling, naturally, with all the stones that are gathered there, and while I haven't always dealt with the owner, I've always had good interactions with whoever was working. The variety of stones is enormous, and prices were very reasonable. I bought a beautiful singing crystal bowl many years ago, and still enjoy playing it. My vacation is about to start, and I'll be making a hill country drive to visit, for certain. read more

My kids love it! Last Halloween they gave away rock key chains and crystals. I don't pay my kids million dollar commissions but they can always find something to make them smile within their budgets. I grew up collecting rocks and have been on the hunt for an art piece for our home for some time, so we made sure to stop by BARS while vacationing in Wimberley. This place is awesome. They have an extensive collection of rocks of all shapes and sizes, plus the best prices I have found by far. We ended up with a beautiful Uruguayan amethyst geode, a pyrite sphere, and a piece of specularite that are now sparkly art pieces in our home. Love them, and all three were very fairly priced. Another plus: if you're an animal lover like me, there are two cats and a dog who live in this rock shop. They make the shopping experience even more fun. read more

Some of my greatest gem and fossil discoveries have been here, and contributed to my enthusiastic lifelong collection. they got a lot of rocks in this place. I'd say rocks are the main attraction. rocks in all sorts of shapes, some retain rock shape, others have been polished into geometric shapes, my son even got one that was shaped like a skull. my wife and daughter have recently picked up some sort of beading jewelry making hobby. they buy beads or rocks with holes in them, string them up in some arrangement and there you have it, a necklace! they look forward to this shop when we visit wimberley. they can spend so much time admiring and handling rocks.... yep, lotsa rocks up in that joint. I can't imagine ever needing another place to buy rocks. read more

Went in one day. I looked around and finally had a couple of items gathered. I was never greeted the whole time. When I got to the counter, I had a couple of questions about what I was going to purchase. The lady had been on the phone the whole time griping about another store. She didn't even look up. Just started to tally up my order. At this point, I felt like if she couldn't be bothered to assist me, she didn't need my business so I left without making a purchase. Located on the "square" in downtown Wimberley, the rock shop is certainly my kids favorite place. It beats out the toy store and candy store! They have a little room in the back with lots of kid-friendly rocks and minerals. The unbroken geoodes are super fun to take home and bust open. Of course, it's not a kid's rock shop... the main room has amazing stuff. I usually pick up something myself as well. But if you're into rocks, minerals, and gems, you should stop by when in the area. read more

Don't expect a bow or hunting store. If you were hoping for an amp or guitar, or other tea to rock out this place is the wrong way to go. This place is a small, expensive touristy like store located just off the square. If you find yourself in need of rock it can be had here. read more

We love going to Broken Arrow anytime we are in Wimberley--it is a treasure. My daughter is always mesmerized by all the different kinds of rocks (as am I) and the owner is so friendly and warm. This weekend I bought I mini chakra healing wand and a tiny Venus of Willendorf statue. I also love buying gifts here--little ammonites and abalones and crystals for friends going through a hard time. I hope this shop is open forever! read more

The best little rock shop in Texas. I collect semi-precious stones and specimens and I really have to say that the owner (Dan) is the man. This is a quaint little place tucked away behind the other shops on the courtyard mall. Worth looking for, great prices on great pieces. Dan does his homework and brings the best deals to his store. Great rockshop! The ladies that run it make it so- and the great taste in which they select their rock samples. They have a lot of display minerals in really nice polished organic shapes that you just dont see everywhere. i was a patron of the original broken arrow rock shop and I think the neat old lady that ran the place would be proud this place bears the name. The quality of items is great here and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. You'd usually have to go to a big gem and mineral show to find anything like this. But they have filtered out many of the nicest things such a show would have and you can come here any time to purchase such wonderful goodies! A hill country treasure! read more

Returned to Wimberly today specifically to visit the rock shop again only to find it empty. To our delight we discovered it had simply moved.
