By the time it was our turn, I had zero doubts we were in great hands. We brought in a gold-on-cowhide Garuda from Thailand and had a vision: two panes of glass with a sleek, minimal frame. Leslie was meticulous, explaining every step, recommending plexiglass over glass, and even hunting down a hard-to-find frame to complete the look. When my husband spotted a small area that needed repair, she reassured us that Omer, the conservator, would handle it with care. I had an autographed jersey and ticket stubs that needed to be preserved- the jersey itself had to be cut to display both panels- needless to say, the physical size of the frame pushed the limits of what was possible. I was walked through the array of options available and were able to deliver a pretty big project in less than two weeks. He spent an hour with me on three different pieces (large wedding photo, college diploma and a fine art photograph). He helped me explore different options and I think the results will be amazing. This shop is capable of framing anything- they specialize in framing things that one might not think of framing such as a wedding bouquet, huge shadow boxes with keepsakes, etc. There are great examples of what they can do hung on their walls, so it is easy to get an idea of what your piece might look like when they are done. I greatly enjoyed working with Kaily, a framer with technical expertise and terrific aesthetic sensibility. With Kaily's assistance I was able to compare frame styles and materials, mat colors and combinations, glass choices and sealing techniques. Kaily offered great suggestions that really moved us along from discussing my vague ideas to making decisions that moved the project steadily closer to the attractive and thoughtfully framed pieces I hoped for. I have been working with Richard for 10+ years, and brought him at least $10k of business. I had a…read morespecial 3-D project I was working on, and even showed him the frame photos. I gave him a print-out of the angular panes I needed in glass (see photo). I'm not sure how much clearer I could have been, but you be the judge. I walked him through it in detail, explaining each number and what they meant. I assumed he could either do it, or send it to someone who could. They came back as rectangles (see photo). He offered me no refund for his error, not even the spread between what I paid and his cost. He could've easily taken back the two 45" x 32" glass panes, which could've been used for other clients without issue. Instead, he cheated a long time customer out of $1750 without so much as an expression of regret.
