So, temper my review with this in mind. ;) That being said, I have zero complaints about this location. Other than... it simply doesn't have the same footprint they have out in D-ville. It feels cramped inside, and there isn't a lot of room for a cart or moving around too much. Still, they have a ton of gardening and decorating products, especially around Christmastime! We were actually here to see Santa, since we couldn't book him at the other location. But, I'm glad we checked it out. They have a Rise Up coffee shop attached too, which was convenient. Made for a nice little treat after shopping. I really don't have a lot else to say. It's still hit-or-miss as far as value is concerned. Some items seem vastly overpriced, and others are more reasonable. You'll pay more for seasonal items, of course, but check back after said season is over (or close to its end), and you can find some very good bargains. The customer service is on par as well. Very friendly staff who are helpful and approachable. Never had an issue with service at Homestead! Overall, great garden shop in Severna Park, and were it closer, I'd be a regular here instead. I love their holiday train setup in the back as well! (Though, again, Davidsonville has a LOT more space for a MUCH bigger display... but it's the effort that matters, and both deserve the highest marks!)

I asked the person who was working that area a few question on which one would be the best to plant and she very vague and stand offish. It's felt like I was bothering her. A month later I had tried to return the one tree I had bought and thought that I would be able to exchange or at least get store credit. I followed all the steps that is on the website about returning a product. The person at the Customer service return counter made me feel it was my fault that the tree was not doing well after I planted it. She said and I quote "We can not help every person who comes in here". Isn't that part of running a good business? The day I was there was not a busy day.

Bottom Line: A fantastic store with quality bird feeder products, lovely garden things and…read moredelightful staff. I really thought that the Wild Bird Center was a place where old people shopped so they could get some bird seed to attract company on slow days. I say that jokingly because my parents are long time customers of the Wild Bird Center and they have a plethora of bird feeders and often discuss the flock of native birds that visit them. Have you ever seen that Geico commercial where the old lady is telling her son over the phone about the squirrels in the attic while he's being chased by bad guys on a skyscraper rooftop? Yeah, its kinda like that with my parents telling me about their birds at the most importune time. Anyway, I've digressed, significantly. In search of some bird feeder related items for my parents I visited the Wild Bird Center in Park Plaza for the first time in December. I am so sorry I didn't visit sooner. This store is fantastic! As the name implies, they have plenty of quality bird feeders and a variety of bird seed that is appropriate for the local birds. I was in search of seed for my parents' Squirrel Buster bird feeder that would attract little cute birds and not make a mess. The staff was able to immediately point me to the best seed for that scenario. With my errand complete, I then enjoyed looking around the store at garden decor, hand painted ornaments, wind chimes, books, and such, I think I might even have seen some bees wax products. As far as the staff goes, they are delightful and helpful! I really enjoyed their welcoming and positive spirit and all of my interactions with them. I look forward to returning to the Wild Bird Center to do some more shopping.

The outside area is a typical garden plant area, with a heavy emphasis on native and bee friendly plants (though you can also find roses, fall mums, herbs, and other garden plants). You'll find some unusual plants mixed though, like 8,483 different varieties of bee balm (I'm not really good at estimates, but that seems right to me), ironweed, meadow sage, and the like. Inside, there's an interesting "country shop," where you can purchase honey and beeswax candles, as well as preserves, unique sodas (Sarsaparilla, anyone?), and some fruits and vegetables. Being focused also on bees, you can also purchase beekeeping supplies here, too. All of the plants I've bought have done really well, and I really enjoy grabbing a cold soft drink, too!
