I went here for a first date. It had perfect ambiance. We were sitting by the bar, near a fireplace... the only problem was that the people in the bar were loud and rowdy, but this wasn't the establishment's fault. My date is a vegan, so this restaurant is good because they have a decent amount of vegetarian and vegan options. I wasn't super hungry, so i had a chicken and mushroom stew. It was pretty good. I would try this place again. read more

Love the vegan options, especially the "fish!" Our server was efficient but not super friendly. It is a great option for a family of vegans/nonvegans. read more

I recently went to Broad Ripple Brew Pub for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised by their menu and the various options. I loved the fish and chips the first time I went there, I had to make a difficult decision as to trying something new the second time or sticking to a sure fire choice. The Broad Ripple BLT was just as good! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. I really love outdoor seating and in a covid environment BR Brew Pub provides a large enough seating area to accommodate indoor and outdoor seating. The pub provides a large assortment of beers, I even tried a Halloween special pumpkin spice flavored beer. Would highly recommend! read more

Not the best first impression, but I wouldn't completely rule out a return visit. Overall, I thought it was pricey for what it was. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe I didn't pick the best items as an accurate representation of what they can do? I'm not entirely sure. I accept full responsibility for this oversight and won't let it sway my stars, but I wanted to mention that I'd searched for Breaded Pork Tenderloin Sandwich and this had been a suggestion. Unfortunately, it's not a regular menu item. The server did confirm that they've had it before as a special but it seems to be offered sporadically. Honestly, that's the main reason I'd stopped here and it's hard to say if we'd have come otherwise since there was another restaurant closer to where we were staying. I looked over the menu and went with the Grilled Chicken Salad. My husband got the Half Pound Bison Burger and added cheese. I also ordered a Black Pear Cider that was featured on the wall. The drink was the standout, unfortunately. The grilled chicken was dry and the vinaigrette served with it was very bitter. I came around to it the more I ate it, but it wasn't an immediately enjoyable salad and not something I'd go for again. It wasn't an almost $10 salad, in my opinion. I think it's going to be an acquired taste. They have 4 other salads available that seem like they might be a safer bet. The burger was good, but it's truly just a burger on a bun with some basic veggies for nearly $14. It's an additional $1 to add cheese. If a burger is going to be more than $10 then I want it to wow me. I'll allow a +$2 difference for a specialty burger, like bison. But the flavor's gotta be there to justify it. This didn't do it for us. Our server was OK. She answered a few questions, took our order, brought the food and ran my card after the bill was dropped off. I can't recall if she asked us how everything was. We were in and out pretty quickly. I didn't find it very welcoming as a dinner spot, but I'm not opposed to returning to try something different. At the very least, it seemed like it would be fine if you just come to drink and chill with some friends. They have a decent selection of their own beers and "OPB (Other Peoples Beer)" guests' on tap and in bottles. read more

This is one of my favorite places all year round! The brew pub offers a family friendly atmosphere in the dining room and outdoor seating, along with the comforts of your favorite neighborhood pub in the bar. The pub area recreates the feeling of an English pub with the dark wood tones, and a cozy fireplace. There is plenty of outdoor seating were you can bring your canine friends, or play a game or corn hole. Unlike most bars they have an eclectic menu that offers a variety of samplings to accommodate those who love traditional pub food, health items, gluten free, and vegetarian selections. And it is all great! I do have to say my favorite of all time is the Brew Pub Nachos with chicken! It is more than enough to call a BIG meal by itself. piled high with tri-colored tortilla chips, tomatoes, onions, black olives, jalapenos, fresh home made salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and cheddar jack! Followed by the Scotch Eggs! Wow! They are fabulous here, They are a brew pub and brew many a fine ales onsite, and serve other quality brews as well as a full bar. The atmosphere is relaxed, the people are friendly. read more

Wonderful place right on the Monon trail. They have a cozy seating area. Comfortable and convenient for even a sizable group. I've had several meals here that I've enjoyed and their beers are tasty. My most recent meal fell below what I would normally rate fours stars. But, I'm showing BRBP leniency because I've had such good food in the past. Otherwise it would be a generous three stars. We ordered the scotch eggs appetizer. A very fun appetizer concept, boiled egg wrapped in sausage. But, it was much spongier than I would expect and had all the hallmarks of too much time in a microwave. Not fresh at all. I have no doubt that when these little gems are fresh, they're quite the item. But served as they were, tasted not much better than something snagged in the grocery frozen breakfast section. Should be better. I ordered the Herdsmen chili. Would have preferred it served with cornbread rather than the guacamole and sour cream. I suppose I could have just asked for crackers, but oh well. Very good flavor to a very hearty chili. Nice, rich flavors. However, many of the chunks of meat were unsettlingly fatty. Some of it inedible. Extra fatty meat chunks do not belong in a chili or stew. It doesn't add flavor only conceals it. I found this very disappointing. Service was fine, although the server was a little slow bringing out extra tortilla chips to our table. Thought she had forgotten, but she did arrive with them. Could have understood were the pub busy, but it twas not. Enjoyed an apple chucker beer. I'm not a beer fanatic, but I find the beers they serve to be quite nice, and the fourth star is probably much related to this trait. For an out-of-towner, BRBP always seems to surprise with their nice beverages. So, I think BRBP is certainly a nice establishment unique to Indy. However, I hope my review serves as a notice to yelpers that BRBP needs to improve its kitchen. Good restos do not live by beer alone. read more

I want to like this place SO BAD. I appreciate all the vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, but they are just so very average. I am easing into vegetarian, so I will admit, my palate still craves real meat, which is hard to substitute. But even my vegan friend found the coconut "bacon" inedible. The faux chicken fingers are ok, and the blue cheese dressing makes them much better. The seitan reuben suffers from underwhelming accompaniments. The bread was barely toasted, there was only a hit of dressing, and there was not much delicious melty cheese. Our servers there have ranged from friendly but MIA to making us feel like it is a burden to serve us. Pros: - cool interior - great onion straws - cultivated beer list read more

I've been here multiple times, usually for take out. The person I was with on my recent visit ordered the spinach melt and she enjoyed it! I also thought my buffalo wings were pretty good! I would even go so far to say they were 'fall off the bone.' I can't say they are consistently fall off the bone as I have only ordered them one time, but they were perfectly good wings the one time I did order them. I have also ordered the chicken nachos which are always yummy. Xoxo, Is this thing on? read more

This is a great brewpub in the heart of Broad Ripple that's been around forever. With its dark wood and outdated bench upholstery, it feels like coming home every time I go. Their beer selection is fantastic, they have a solid pizza game, AWESOME scotch eggs (the best in town, hands down), and really great vegan options if that's what you're into. Their patio is pretty awesome in the summer as well. Parking is limited like everything else in Broad Ripple, but you can usually find something pretty close. There's a dart board, which is fun as well. The bar is warm and the bartenders are perfectly knowledgeable and aloof. It's a great place to hang out with friends. Oh! And you can bring your family too. There's ample seating for those under 21. read more

VEGAN: vegetarian friendly!!!!! The reason why I can was to try the sandwiches that are vegan or vegetarian. WORTH TRYING even if you are not even vegan. The building is an older type pub where you choose you seats (which is awkward at first but I liked). The waitress we had suggested some good non meat friendly ideas which we tried (sloppy joe, spinach melt, and Rueben). Definitely worth the trip to Broad Ripple!! Also they brew their beverages there so it was neat to see the equipment in the restaurant! read more

After a cold morning of hiking we determined to try this spot as their online menu had a ton of vegan options. There's a small parking lot in front or parking around various other spots, and one entrance on the east side. We were able to be seated immediately in a space empty of other patrons, probably because we had come in an off time. It meant that we felt as if we had the space to ourselves which was actually quite nice. The waitress was friendly and helpful, and after a few questions we determined to get several of their specials. I had the Portabella mushroom vegan wrap which was filled to the brim with vegetables and had a nice mayonnaise sauce. My only regret is that I did not ask for house made potato fries instead of the bag chips that came with the sandwich. My husband got the fish and chips which were really battered and fried tofu with house made potato fries. He said it was absolutely to die for, And after sampling a few of his fries I have to agree they were very delicious. Their menu has quite a few sandwiches but a lot of other dishes so there's some thing for everyone. They have quite a few interesting vegan options as well as a soup that's either vegetarian or vegan daily. We've not heard of this place before but will definitely be back if nothing else for their vegan fish and chips! read more

The food is really good and i love their vegetarian and vegan options. Their beer selection is great, lots of locals as well as their own beers. Great seating options, small bar to sit at, but large bar dining room, then a family dining area and a huge patio to sit at. I have been here about a half of dozen times over the years but recently we had 2 experiences that put a very bad taste in my mouth. 1. Came in to dine in and was told that it was a 10-15 minute wait even though more than half of the tables outside were empty as well as many open tables inside. I asked well what about outside, there are plenty of open tables out there, he said it was still a 10-15 minute wait. We left, that makes no sense. if you were understaffed just tell me that. 2. Came in the next day (wanted to try the $5 burgers for burger week in indy) sat in the bar dining area and waited 10 or so minutes before anyone even greeted us. The waitress acted like she absolutely did not want to be there and didn't care about anything in life. We got the burgers and asked to share a side of veggie chips, this was repeated twice to her. when she brought out our food she put the veggie chips as a side on my girlfriends plate. i didn't want to make a big deal about it, just kind of said, "oh i thought we asked to share these, is there plate we can use" she didnt really say anything and then was like "whats wrong" i said don't worry about it. All i wanted was a small plate so we could share them. After that she never once came back to fill our water or ask us how the meal was or if we wanted anything else to drink. When she finally came back over she tossed our bill on the table, never asking if we wanted anything else and then just walked away. This service we received by this waitress was such a horrible experience i don't know if i'll ever come back. which makes me sad because i like this place but man she needs to be fired as soon as possible. If she is treating other people like she did us, they are going to loose people quick! read more

I have only done takeout but I love this place, good fish fry, friendly people and something for everyone.

I had good food, beer, and service on a Sunday afternoon. Stopping in for a late lunch, there was plenty of room inside and out. There is a small parking lot for customers and some free street parking across the street on Cornell. Inside, the pub is quite dark. On the north end of the pub is where you can see the brewing tanks behind glass next to the bar. I grabbed one of the smaller tables in that section and ordered a flight of their in house brews. The flights are about 5 oz each and were only $1.50 each. I opted for four: The Cerveza de Sol (a Mexican style lager 5% 10 IBU); the Nice Weiss (Hefeweizen 5.25% 14 IBU) with a mild banana/clove taste; To Helles With It (German style lager 5% 17 IBU); and I Got Rye on It (a malt liquor 9% 28 IBU). I enjoyed each of the samples and recommend trying the flights to get a sense of what you might like best. I was drawn in by the Indy Burger Week promotion, so I went with the tasty Cheese Crock Bacon Burger with a side of brewpub "chips" and cole slaw. The burger can be ordered to "doneness" and since I always order my burgers with a nice char, I was really pleased how great the kitchen did the grilling. They then dunk the burger in cheese and serve it on a thick pretzel bun with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. I have to admit that this was one huge stack of sandwich! I ended up squishing the bun down to fit the sandwich in my mouth. The taste was really good. The cheese doesn't go on in a thick sheet like when a processed cheese is placed on top. Instead, the heat of the burger melts the cheese so that you can see the cheese down in the crooks and crannies of the burger, but see mostly burger on the top. Still, there was plenty of cheese flavor. The cole slaw had a bit of a pungent taste. I couldn't tell if it was the vinegar, but it may have had a touch of horseradish inside..not the heat, just something in the taste made me think of it. It worked really well with bites of burger, but a little stronger than expected when eaten alone. The brewpub "chips" are the English style thick sliced potatoes, not the crispy type we normally think of here. I think there may have been a little bit of seasoning on them for additional flavor, but I didn't notice it throughout the batch. This service was attentive and helpful. Although my waitress had customers in other sections of the pub, I never waited more than five minutes once I finished a glass or my meal to have them cleared. Checkout was fairly quick too. As Indiana's oldest brewery, they have a number of quality ales to select from their own tanks. They do offer a few other brewery/cidery options along with some wine and cocktails. Overall, I had a very pleasant time at Broad Ripple Brewpub. Review #324 read more

Sat outside under their covered patio and had a nice dinner along with a pint of their IPA. Wanted to order the chimichurri seitan wrap off their specials list, but they were sold out. I had no idea this place even existed but I thought I'd give it a try because their veggie burger sounded good. I got the Broad Ripple Summer Shandy (beer with lemon lime soda..yum!) and it was awesome! I actually don't usually drink beer, but it was a hot summer day and it sounded good. I'm glad I got it because it definitely hit the spot. The veggie burger was pretty good, but nothing special. It came with fried onions, tomatoes, an lettuce. I also upgraded from chips to fries-they were yummy! The service wasn't great (they weren't even busy), but I'm just going to give our server the benefit of the doubt and assume it was his first day... read more

I'm not a vegetarian but I love the vegetarian food at the Brewpub, especially the sloppy Joes! Nice menu and great food!

To start our waiter was is were very rude and unhelpful when we found that our food did not come out correct. We ordered handcrafted sodas and they taste it like water down juice. We asked for a different flavor and they were not made correctly at all. Once ordering our food we were highly disappointed with the outcome. Not as advertised. I think that I may have found my new favorite restaurant with the Broad Ripple Brewpub! I was honestly a little bit skeptical when I heard a restaurant with a pub-like atmosphere offered quality vegetarian options, and multiple options at that. Upon approaching the restaurant, I fell in love with the atmosphere! I chose to sit outside, since it was a beautiful day outside. I highly recommend this if you go on a nice day! Our server, Emily, was very quick to get to our table take our drink orders. She was also super helpful with recommendations. (I asked for several). She recommended the Lawn Mower Pale Ale, which was amazing! I'm glad she did, the beer menu here is pretty extensive, and there were so many I wanted to try! That being said, the Lawn Mower was an amazing ale. I highly recommend it for people who love a beer with a little "hop" to it! Very refreshing on a warm, summer afternoon! My friend and I both ordered off the "Special" menu, which seems to rotate frequently, bringing a lot of variety to the menu! Emily recommended the Vegan burger and fries for me. (Disclaimer: I'm not fully vegan or vegetarian, but this was SO GOOD!) As someone who occasionally eats meat, I couldn't tell a difference between this burger and ones I've had made with meat. The fries were seasoned to perfection and the burger sauce was to die for! My friend had the Peanut Butter Burger of the "Special Menu" as well and absolutely loved it! I can't truly express how many delicious-looking vegan/vegetarian options there were! They also had multiple gluten-free options! The menu is amazing for vegans and meat-lovers all the same! To finish off dinner, we enjoyed some post-dinner cocktails. I ordered the Margarita, while my friend tried the Pimm's Winter. My margarita was one of the best I've ever had! It tasted so fresh and not at all syrupy. I also had a chance to try the Pimm's Winter, which was a deliciously fruity and refreshing cocktail. I would HIGHLY recommend both of these cocktails. They were perfect finishing touches on an amazing and filling meal! I will definitely be returning to the Broad Ripple Brewpub in the very near future! If you're a person who's passionate about fresh-tasting ingredients, delicious food, and quality beers/cocktails, you're sure to love this place! I truly believe the Broad Ripple Brewpub has something to offer for ALL dietary preferences! I can't wait to return and try even more of their vegan options! read more

I have been going here for literally decades and I have so many good memories here. Some of my latest revolve around getting delicious takeout from here and waiting for just a few minutes in this cozy place during Covid. My absolute favorite thing to order is the Nut Burger which is so good I order it even though I am a serious carnivore. I just discovered they also have "floppy" onion rings with the crispy breading falling off in delicious flakes. Do you remember Max & Erma's floppy onion rings back in the 70s and 80s? They're just like those. I had been searching for years for these onion rings and they were under my nose the whole time at my beloved Brew Pub. Now that it's warming up and some people have been vaccinated, I am hoping to eat here when I ride along the Monon Trail. read more

2.5- I should preface this by saying I'm not a beer drinker. Came here last nite with a couple of co-workers. We were looking for a casual, sit down kind of place to meet up, and one of my co-workers suggested coming out here. As we walked up to the place, we saw tons of people outside, and thought "looks like we gotta wait," but it was actually a bunch of guys standing around a table. Since the weather is still nice in the midwest, most people were just waiting for an outside table. We elected to go inside. AMBIENCE- Alright, I know some places are dark, but you may have needed night vision to see my wife and I (as least where they sat us). I know this place is a pub and all, but it smelled pretty bad. The place smelled like a dirty dish towel. MENU- menu had your typical bar food- appetizers, burgers and sandwiches, etc... they did have a few entrees (pastas and such), and some "yourkshire" favorites (shepperds pie, bangers and mash). Nothing overwhelming by any means. As for beer, they have a pretty large selection. Again, I don't drink, so I can't really speak to it's impressiveness, but my co-workers seemed to be pretty excited for it. SERVICE- our server was a grungy looking dude, but was very friendly. Not the most attentive, and seemed to interrupt at odd points of the evening, but still a nice guy. FOOD- we started out the evening with some black bean nachos. The nachos were good, and LOADED with black beans. It was nice because they layered it properly, as opposed to having the top layer, and nothing below. My wife ordered the portabello sandwich, I got the bangers and mash (sausage, mashed potatoes, and peas), my one co-worker got the sheperds pie, and my other co-worker got the chicken fingers. I think all of agreed our food wasn't phenomenal, but it wasn't bad either. My wife liked her sandwich, though it was pretty oily. The one shining moment of the meal appeared to be the beer for my co-workers, so at least they can rock that. OVERALL- yeah, I'm not the bar/pub kinda guy. It didn't help that the place smelled, but it was just ok. I'm sure the outdoor seating is really nice during the summer, but this place just didn't do it for me (food wise). I'm guessing beer/pub people would dig this place, but not me. Chuck Norris rating- Rock Bottom read more

This is one of the two places I head to when I need to revel in Liverpool nostalgia. There's a little bit of England inside the Broad Ripple Brewpub, from the rich wood on the walls to the English-style beers. Although it's not my favorite style of beer (it can feel flat to some), it serves as a transport to the days I tried (and failed at) being a proper Scouser. When I'm here I start with an ESB and pair it with the edamame burger, which I'd recommend to any vegetarian. It's a nice change from the typical black bean burger one usually sees on a menu. Therefore, luv: bring your best mates here for a proper vegetarian sandwich and wash it down with a pint. Cheers! read more

I'm such a lover of savory, hearty meals, and that makes me a perfect fit for Broad Ripple Brew Pub. Their recent menu overhaul kept the classics they were known for - bangers and mash (sausage links with mashed potatoes and peas with shallot gravy) to their beer-battered fish and chips. Additions include a great list of sandwiches, soups and salads. This is a go-to place when my mom visits Indy because of the variety of vegetarian and vegan options. Veg-heads will be happy to see a unique menu of Mexican dishes, quinoa, black bean burgers and delicious non-meat options. And of course, I can't forget the beer - Broad Ripple Brew Pub brews their own spectrum of beers and you can't help but enjoy a pint (or two) while enjoying lunch or dinner. I would give them five stars if they offered more sides for their sandwiches - the waitress informed me that the chips with my turkey sandwich were just chips, nothing special, and while I appreciated the honesty, I would have rather been offered a side of mac n cheese or mashed potatoes than a heaping load of potato chips. They do offer some sides but for an extra charge. The interior is also lacking luster - sit outside and enjoy the view of the Monon instead. read more

This is our go-to place in Broad Ripple. Our last visit was to support Dining Out For Life, an annual fundrasier for the Damien Center. I was surprised to see the menu had recently changed, and the beloved (by me, and perhaps not many others apparently) dolmades are off the menu. So, on this visit I tried something new! I ordered the veggie quesadillas and added spinach. Good choice, and this might just be my new staple! This dish packs heat, so beware. Other things I love about the Brew Pub: -Plentiful outdoor dining space -Interesting and truly homemade menu options -Beers available by the pint, or in smaller portions (this was much more appealing to me when I was a breastfeeding mom and just wanted a smidge of my favorite Porter) -Great kids menu (go for the Shepherds Pie, every time!) Things that add to the charm of the Brew Pub, but might be irritating to some: -Slow-ish service -Cigarette smoke wafting over from the fire-pit area IF you choose to sit outdoors on that side of the building (not a fan of smoke? Request to sit on the street side and you'll be in the clear) read more

So so so so happy to have a place that serves such great and trustworthy vegan food! The vegan fish and chips were the first dish to draw me in, and I was so impressed with the taste and texture; I couldn't believe they achieved such a great flavor in quite an unexpected veganized dish. The vegan tenderloin they just featured for the Indy 500 was so close to the real thing - flat, fried, and way too big for the bun; I hope they add it as a permanent staple to the menu. Speaking of permanency, they have rotating food features along with the regular menu, making sure the regulars don't tire of options. I've been so focused on the food that the beers haven't stood out to me much; I like the heaviness and flavor of the porter, but couldn't tell you much else about what I've sampled. The atmosphere is great, akin to a traditional English or Irish pub, with dark interiors and heavy wood decor. There's also an outdoor seating area if darkness isn't so much your thing. Service can be a little slow most of the time, so don't go here if you're in a rush. Sit back, take in the atmosphere, down a couple pints, and gorge yourself on vegan and omni foods. read more

I'll be the first to change my review if a return visit merits it. After our first visit, I'd not planned on returning, but a local band I wanted to see was playing here, so I decided to support local music and give the restaurant another chance. I'm sitting between 3.5 and 4 stars. Started with a Winter's Pimm, which was refreshing and tasty. My partner and I ordered the nachos to share without any meat. I thought the nachos were good and the toppings were pretty evenly distributed, except for the melted cheese. That was a little harder to get on each chip. A plus was that there were almost no soggy chips, which I've come across with nachos often before. I finished with the bread pudding. Tasty, but missing that classic custard aspect of a bread pudding. The bourbon sauce was good, but some bites were super bourbon-y and just made everything taste like alcohol. The service was excellent and attentive, and the patio looked like a nice place to hang out in the summertime! read more

We stepped back into the Broad Ripple Brewpub, after being away from it for six months since our last visit to Indianapolis. My initial order of the Bangers and Mash was such a disappointment (still can't figure out what the Bangers were cooked in that made them taste so awful)! Switched over to a regular burger and onion rings, and was so much happier! The burger was excellent, grilled nicely, with the most delicate onion rings! I'm not a beer drinker, so diet sodas were my choice for drink. The service was pretty good, though I had to flag the waitress over to trade in my lunch order for another one, and then she didn't come back to check how the burger was until I had completed eating it. a lot of history here. brews were very tasty and staff was very good.

Had a BRB gift card to burn so went there on a Thursday night to use the remaining balance. Fish & Chips were on special for $7 so had to try it, and out came a big portion of food which made me salivate. The fish was good, not too greasy not too dry. You can easily wash it down w/ any of the craft beers on tap. One thing to note about BRB is the rotating specials menu, which strays from the normal pub food fare. I was tempted to order the Spicy Porkless Tofu Tenderloin or Goat Cheese pizza if the F&C wasn't on special. In a previous visit, I also had the seafood stuffed calamari which doesn't look or sound appealing but was actually quite tasty. If you have adventurous taste or wanna try something different check out the Brewpub Specials on the back of the menu. read more
