Thanks to Covid we had the hardest time trying to re-locate our Australian Shepherd from Detroit to Australia! Not only are the Australian requirements complicated and long, Covid took out almost all flights. Thankfully, Jennifer and Britt's Bow Wow were with us every step of the way. Even from the first inquiry, she took the time to explain the process and a very detailed quote with different options whereas other companies sent generalized emails with twice the price quoted. The process went smoothly at first with Jennifer keeping us updated on everything and patiently answering all my many emails throughout. When the airlines had a miscommunication (by no fault of Britt's Bow Wow or myself) she was there working all day to make sure our Pup could get on a plane. We were useless as we had already made it to Australia ourselves and no longer had phone service. Jennifer even used WhatsApp to give us a call to make sure we understood everything that was happening and that our dog was going to be alright. She and Chris the owner were able to get our dog on the next flight and now our happy pup is all settled in our new home in Australia. So ridiculously grateful to have found Britt's Bow Wow! This place came recommended as we were looking for a great place not a good place a great place to take our Two German Shepherd's they are two and three years old and have never ever been boarded. We had every red flag before we took them here and left them for five days. Leading up to taking the dogs here we called them several times and left messages asking if they had availability and if we can take the dogs there so we and the dogs could check the place out. No one ever called us so about two weeks go by and we tell the girl that answered Can we come up there NOW today she said yes at three so we went the place was old but clean and they told us the our two dogs could be together in the kennels in the back and they could go in and out and they could we could see that. So we book the date and the girl said as far the dogs shots and all that like any other boarding place the vet just e mails it over. And the girl said pack your dogs whatever toys bones etc..So the flight was leaving that Monday at six am so we had to take the dogs the Sunday before. No problem get there the lady I guess lives at the kennel came out said we woke her up and she was discombobulated and out of it. So she says where's the paperwork we explained the girl said the vet could email tomorrow she said nope she needs the paperwork NOW. After 45 mins of haggling she says ok send it tomorrow. Great. Then I give the lady the bucket of food and a bag this bag had what you could imagine for two dogs who we consider family we have never left alone so we had bones toys treats two of our shirts with perfume and cologne on them pig ears I mean over the top we were sad we were leaving them. That Monday roles around they never called about the paperwork so we never sent it. Friday roles around we call hey coming in 45 mins to get the dogs . We get there the girl says we love your dogs we love playing with them last time they were here they loved it mind you the dogs have never been there and she called both dogs the wrong name at that point who fuking cares we just want our dogs. So we walk back there wand get them and they are howling and they never howl but they were happy. My wife takes the dogs I grab the food and that bag that Big bag Full of there toys medicine I forgot they had allergy medicine and the two shirts and just a bunch of stuff spoiled dogs get . We get in the car the bag was never even touched not one toy out of the package not one pigs ear out of the wrapper the mess still in the bottle not open the two shirts the two damn shirts still folded. If the place would of just said look your dogs will be safe this is a no thrills place they won't get toys or played with but on the other hand we won't poke sticks in there kennels and be mean to them I'd say ok at least you know what your getting. So that's what you're getting. And jefe and Honcho don't play that game . read more

I can't say enough about how incredible this business is. I started with them in 2019 to try to get my nephews two dogs over to Sweden. In the mist of almost finishing what we needed to do, we unfortunately ran into a snag and had to put that transport on hold. I then again reached out to Jennifer who is my savior and asked her if she would help me get the dogs to Sweden this year. My wife and I live in Northern Michigan by The Bridge. We lived in Ann Arbor for three years - while keeping our home near Cross Village. We have two beagles, and, while in AA, we needed to find a place to board our dogs. After checking out numerous kennels near AA, we found and fell in love with Britt's Camp Bow-Wow in Ypsilanti. When we first visited to check out the kennel, we were amazed - pleasantly so - to find them sheltering "Arnold, the pig" in addition to dogs and cats. Plus, they pick up animals having to lay over at Detroit Metro - about a mile away - rather than leaving them locked in cages at the airport. They definitely have a big heart. Since moving back up north - 30 miles north of Petoskey - we still board our dogs at Camp Bow-Wow whenever we are going downstate - or are going out of state to the east. We do this for two reasons: they provide wonderful care for our pets - not to say that the kennels in our area do not provide good care - and because they are open until 8:00 PM, while our local kennels close at 5:00 PM. This generally saves us one day of boarding. Plus, everyone that we have ever dealt with at "The Camp" have been warm and empathetic, and we know that they are kind to our animals. WhenI I dropped our dogs off yesterday, I was assisted by Michael. He was very friendly and welcoming to our animals, and I would like to give him a great big thumbs-up. This place is a no-frills boarding place for your pet. If you are looking for upscale, this is not going to be for you. It is very utilitarian, but it serves it's purpose. The prices are very reasonable for pets being boarded here. And it works nicely if you have multiple pets because the second pet is half off. You do have to pay additional if you want time for your pets to play with actual people. But being that we have two pets they can keep one Another entertained. The dogs are situated in a little private run area and it has outdoor access that is gated off from other dogs, but they can see them. They also offer grooming service which is important if you've been away for a while because your dog will probably stink. read more

Poorly operated. Poorly staffed. One employee even told me that he would never board his own dogs there. Little play time, and locked inside their excrement filled cages. Just look at the reviews at their other location. Obviously there's a lack of communication, expectations, and definitely NO leadership. Turn tail and run!! It looks to me as if they had friends of the business post positive reviews to bolster their Yelp rating. Not a trustworthy business whatsoever. In addition to this, the staff is VERY unprofessional. I was hung up on once by an individual named Renee, because as she stated, "I have a family to tend to." Then while trying to call a manager named, Jennifer she ignored my calls, then just turned her phone off so calls went directly to voicemail. Not a very good way to operate a business. I have to give a paws up to the team at Britt's!! We were in the midst of a relo to California with 2 Retrievers. For our family this was the most worrisome aspect, getting our dogs safely across country. Jennifer and Jen took the time to answer our questions, walk us through the process and even provided a detailed itinerary for our dogs. They picked up the dogs at our home Michigan, and boarded them for 4 days while we got out to CA. When it was their travel day, Jen let us know when they were loaded on the flight and offered her cell phone if we had any issues with Delta. The dogs arrived safely and none the worse for wear!! They creatively navigated the impossible task of relocating our large golden retriever from the Washington DC area to Buenos Aires at almost half the cost of what I had been quoted by several other pet shipping companies. Jennifer went above and beyond to take care of our pup and get us the best deal...some of the best customer service I have received in my life. We were connected to Britt's via a NY company Pet Chauffeur, and boy were we glad to have found them. Jennifer drew up several quotes for our complex situation, and we ended up going with the creative route of driving our dog to Miami, boarding her with a Britt's Bow Wow affiliate in Miami, then flying her to Argentina a few days after us. Amy and Chris in Miami took excellent care of her, sending frequent pictures, taking care of all her predeparture vet visits and health certification, and checking her in at the airport cargo terminal. They navigated this process like pros, and took all the stress out of it for us. They watched our dog during my wedding and kept us in the loop. We were happy that although Penny couldn't be with us she was being played with and cared for. I was desparate to get someone to meet our Labrador at DTW to give her a potty break during her three hour layover with Delta Cargo. She was flying from Honolulu to Baltimore and DTW was her longest layover. I paid $75 for them to meet her plane and give her a potty break (Delta Cargo DOES NOT GIVE POTTY BREAKS). When I called to verify that they had indeed met the plane and given her a potty break, they informed me they had never received a call from Delta and so NEVER WENT TO LET OUR DOG OUT!!!! Delta was never supposed to call them, as she was not being kenneled. So, now our Labrador has been in her kennel for 17 hours with no break and she has another leg of her flight to go. I would not recommend either the pet hotel in Romulus or the pet grooming spa in Plymouth. As a former employee, I could not stand working here anymore. Employees were late EVERYDAY 30 minutes-1 hour. They didn't care about helping out much. The kennels are small & animals get 1 thin little blanket, from what I saw. Huge dogs are boarded into small kennels. It is not clean. You have to pay extra for "play time", which is so stupid. And play time isn't even play time, they just let the animal roam around a small yard while the employee doesn't do anything. As for the spa, groomers were late, like I said, and leave by 2:00-3:00, but they are open until 5:00. If just the groomers are at the salon w/ no front desk worked, they shut the place down early. So don't plan on taking your animals there after those times. All around, both places are very unpleasant & I would NOT take my dogs to either place. read more

My dog was killed at Britt's Bow Wow, Romulus, MI My beloved dog was actually killed at this kennel. I was told by the owner that "he somehow escaped from his outside run, ran out to the busy road and was hit by an oncoming car." Try swallowing that information while you are on vacation 900 miles away. Better yet, try explaining this to your 4 year old son that we can not pick up our puppy when we get home because he is no longer with us. This place was completely negligent. If they were better equipped or were doing their jobs we would still have our dog today. I have never been more disappointed in a business in my entire life! read more

We took a tour of the boarding and it looked a little crummy from the outside, but then we passed the gate and the inside was filthy. The dogs were sitting in their pee and their food was all over the floor. There was poo all over the outside area as if they don't keep up with it often enough it smelled horrible. I wanted to think that maybe it was just a bad day and asked my friend about her stay there and she said they messed up on her dog's medication and didn't give him all of them and it later cost her. I would never send my dog here and hope this helps anyone from making that mistake. read more
