Our dog regularly attends daycare at this facility. She is always so excited to go and cries when we are in the car and getting close. As soon as we walk in, all the staff acknowledges her by name and she pushes to try to get through the door to get back to the room where she gets to see all of her friends. We are so happy that we found Camp Canine! read more

We are incredibly overprotective dog parents and the camp canine staff always goes above and beyond to take excellent care of our fur baby. They are affordable, clean, knowledgeable and professional. Our dog jumps with excitement when he sees certain staff members ... he doesn't even do this with our family! Camp Canine is the best daycare and boarding facility we've experienced. We are so thankful to have a place to bring our little guy for day camp and overnight boarding during our vacations. We love to check out their Facebook posts daily to see what our guy has been up to. It helps take the stress out of longer vacations to know his tail is wagging and he's enjoying his time! read more

We recently used Camp Canine to watch our dog over the weekend. Decent prices. Friendly staff. Clean facility. Separate play areas for different personality type dogs. A tour of property prior to boarding. Updates posted on Facebook. Video and photos of the dogs there that day. Only problem was our dog must have had an accident or something. She came home smelling of urine, her bed smelling of urine and bleach, and her shirt she sleeps with bleach stained. No one said anything about having to clean her cage or anything when signs obviously point to the contrary. Other then that had a good experience. read more

This is the best dog boarding place I've been to. The owner is great, and really cares about all the dogs. She is always taking photos and videos and posting them on facebook so you can see your dog! There is a lot of room for the dogs to run around, and the place is always clean. My dog Gun is always happy but exhausted when I pick him up. The owner also does a good job of screening overly aggressive dogs. I feel this is a safe and happy environment to bring my dog. They do grooming and I think training too. read more

I wasn't going to really post anything about this place until I started reading Nicole's comment and talking with my sister who also takes her dog to this place. I will NOT be taking my dog back to this place. On February 28th my dog had his first day at camp canine. I had taken him for a couple hours to see how he liked it. At first the staff came across as very nice and understanding of me being a first time dog owner and being very worried about leaving my "child" in the hands of someone I didn't know that well. She assured me that her staff was "well trained to step in" if something was to occur while he was there. Day 1 went okay. It was Day 2, the next day on March 1st, that we had some problems. I put my dog in for a full day because I'm a student and had finals coming up and needed a day to study, while he would be playing. After only 1 hour of him being there, I received a call from a worker saying that my dog got a "cut" on top of his paw. He also stated how he had no idea how he got it. RED FLAG: where were these so called "workers" when this happened? I asked him how bad it was. He said it was a nice size cut about the size of a dime. He said that he cleaned it up and it stopped bleeding but if I wanted to come get him, he would reimburse me. He then apologized. I told him if it the cut wasn't too bad and it was done bleeding, that I would get him at the pickup time. Upon arrival, he showed me the powder he put on my dogs paw. My dog was holding up his paw so I knew he was in pain. I admit, I did downplay how I was really feeling for fear that my dog would become upset. I left, and it wasn't until he went outside and the powder came off, that I realized that the "Cut" was worse than they said. It was VERY deep into his paw (about a half inch deep) and dime size around. I was VERY upset at this and had to put antibiotic on it and wrapped it up. The only explanation they could give me is that they "Think" he got his paw under the wire fence and thats how it happened. If that's the case, then perhaps they need to look into new fencing. And even so, I'm sure a worker would have heard my dog yelping during the ordeal. I am so VERY disappointed as I did research before taking him and read reviews. PLEASE consider all the factors when taking your dog somewhere. I did look at the building when I got there but never considered a fence could do so much damage to my dog. I can just say that my WHOLE family wasn't very happy--including my sister who has had experiences with them as well. Needless to say, I'll take my chances with having my dog at home with me where I KNOW he is safe. read more

I have been coming to Camp Canine Downriver since September of 2014. I brought my dog 2-3 times per week and purchased several of the punch card packages for repeated visits. I've also referred at least 25 families to Camp Canine Downriver. Up until yesterday, I was a very happy customer. On February 26th, there was an incident involving my dog and another dog, a puppy. At the time of the incident, when pressed for information, Carey (the owner) stated that she did not witness the incident. The day after the incident, Carey left me a lengthy voicemail about how much they loved my dog, and how much they wanted us to come back, and how her staff believed it was an isolated incident. At Carey's request, I did not bring my dog back to camp for one week. I brought my dog back to camp on Monday, March 9th. When I picked him up at the end of the day, Carey told me that Bolt had been 'grumpy' with some of the other dogs, and they had put him in a 'time out' for a while. I explained that my dog might be out of sorts due to my fiancé being out of town for an extended amount of time (my dog and my fiancé are very close). We worked out a plan on how we would handle further visits to reduce the possibility of other incidents occurring. As we left, my dog jumped up on a woman that had come to pick up her dog. My dog did not injure the woman, but did unfortunately rip her pants from butt to ankle. I apologized and removed my dog from the building immediately. I do not believe that this incident was "aggressive" in nature, and just that my dog got very excited and accidentally ripped the woman's pants. Upon returning home, I emailed Carey and apologized profusely. Her response was very sympathetic and at no time did she mention needing to take another break, or anything about the incident in the lobby being aggressive in nature. The next morning, she sent me an email saying that she felt my dog was aggressive and that I would need to take a few more weeks away from camp. While it is her business and she has the right to ask anyone to not come, this made me angry, as she had seemingly changed her mind over night. I emailed her and asked her to answer the following questions regarding the biting incident: Why was my adult dog with puppies? Who/how many people were monitoring the dogs at the time of the incident? Were they distracted in any way (by cell phones, by posting to the Camp Canine Facebook page)? Given my dogs inclination to use a 'warning system' with dogs that were bothering him, your staff should have observed that the two dogs were not getting along. Why were the dogs not separated before the incident occurred? Why was another dog allowed to harass my dog to the point that he felt like biting this other dog was the only way to get him to stop bothering him? How did you determine that my dog needed to 'take a break?' Was it your long term observation of his behavior, or was is solely based on this incident (which you did not observe)? Was the other dog asked to 'take a break' for behavior reasons? I also asked her to provide me with more information like... what time did the incident occur, and were there any other incidents that she did not discuss with me? Her response was extremely vague and non-satisfactory. She did not answer any of my questions, and instead told me that she has '600 registered dogs' and she has never had any incidents with any other dogs. I pressed, once again, for a response. She refused to give me a detailed account of the incident, and asked me to stop contacting her because I was harassing her. All I want to know is how the incident occurred, how closely the employees were monitoring the room at the time, and what time the incident occurred. It concerns me that she will not honestly answer these questions and makes me concerned for the welfare of other dogs at camp. I'm a relatively new dog owner so leaving my dog overnight took some getting use to but we did some short stays to start and she loved it. My favorite part is that the staff seems to truly care and answered all of my questions and concerns and put my mind at ease. I love that they want you to come and tour the facility ahead of time, they give you a thorough explanation of what to expect - feeding times, lights out times, etc. The best part is play time is all day. I absolutely can't stand the thought of my active 1 year old puppy being in a cage all day and getting only 15 minutes of play time a couple times a day. The staff plays with the dogs and takes photos that they post daily. My only complaint is I wish there were more pictures of my pup to look at while I was away. Hardly a complaint since I'm sure its hard to get a snap of every animal every day but I love seeing her have fun while we are away. Plus the fact that you can park there and shuttle to the airport is an added bonus. read more

We love Camp Canine! We can't live with out it! We have a very active 1year old puppy, Eddie. We take him at least twice a week and he can't wait to get there. He knows his routine days that he goes and follows us in the mornings until we take him. We also board him quite often with no worries for us, knowing he is safe, well taken care of, and having a blast. We also have used the 'Park & Ride' to the airport. What a great program! It was so convenient and efficient. We absolutely will do that again. The groomer Sarah also does an awesome job! (And I am pretty particular). We can't be happier with the facility, Carey and the staff, and peace of mind leaving our fur baby in a safe, loving environment! Thank you Camp Canine! You're the best!! read more
