As a mixed girl it's always hard to find someone you trust with your hair who's familiar with the unique texture. I'd had the same stylist for 8 years before I moved and had a hard time finding someone. I first found Brittney on YouTube years ago and figured I would give her a try when I was in LA last year. I just went for my second visit and I'm so happy to say that she's amazing ! My natural hair is in the 3C range (tight coils) and she handles it like a pro. I have a lot of hair but it's very fine, so when it's blown out and straightened it typically looks very thin. She straightens my hair after blow drying with a curling iron which gives it so much more body and fullness! She also never weighs my fine hair down with too much product. She is upfront about how much needs to be trimmed (usually a lot for me!). To top it off she's such a chill, easygoing person to talk to. Anyway, highly recommend for any mixed girls looking for a stylist. Also, she recently moved from her old location--just FYI as I went to the wrong address initially. read more

Let me just say that Brittany went above and beyond with doing my make up on my wedding day. Not only is she a make up artist that will work with you on the look your going for but she makes sure that you are comfortable along the way. I had my initial wedding consult in her boutique salon in Hermosa (adorable place) and she listened to me and assisted with finding the perfect look. During the day of my wedding, she did my make up and even helped me out with my hair (which I had someone else to do). She continued to ask was there anything she could do for me, even after finishing my make up. She is a very sweet girl that does amazing work. Look. I came from a family that would all get their hair done by the same woman in an overpacked salon. It would take 3-4 hours just for one head to get done, and the stylist would be shuffling between customers like that Cooking Fever game in the App Store. Going to the salon was truly an all-day affair. Now that I'm older, not about that life, and - as Jill Scott and Brittney Gray like to say - "living my life like it's golden", I choose to spend my time getting more detailed attention to my hair. When you're at Beach Vibes Beauty, you're not a 10AM that suddenly became a 11:15AM because your hairdresser is running behind. No ma'am. You're a glorified individual whose time is respected and honored - and you're coming to a brilliant mind with your detailed wants and needs and if it's within reason (aka not going to fuck up your hair for all eternity), Brittney will give it to you. If you want someone that's about the coin and not about the integrity of their work, Brittney is not the girl for you. She's opinionated, but in a good way; she'll let you know if your hair goal isn't reasonable (idk, like maybe going from all black to platinum blonde in a day). And I don't know about y'all, but I'm not trying to look like Britney Spears circa 2007 or the butler from Scary Movie 2. I've probably seen Brittney for a year now and she has been the best thing to ever happen to my hair. During that time, I've had several blowouts (+ flat iron) and permanent color placed in my hair. My hair is always healthy, and in fact, I don't think I could trust anyone else with it at this point- especially when it comes to coloring. Just look at her work! I'm currently debating which color I want next. (Hey girl, we'll talk soon.) Oh and for anyone that wants a scientific breakdown about hair and coloring and all that jazz, she's THE BEST person to ask. I nerd out when it comes to learning random things like that, and she knows how to break it down into digestible pieces for someone that isn't in the industry. Just book the appointment. Brittney did an amazing job with my fine, straight hair. I told her that I struggle with my hair falling flat, so she added beautiful layers and even showed me tricks to styling it at home. Every stylist I've gone to before has insisted on blunt ends but have never achieved the movement her cut does. I'm very impressed with her skills and will definitely return for my next cut! She was so incredibly patient with everyone's requests and even redid part of my M-I-L's hair at the end b/c she wasn't thrilled with the blowout she got... from a totally different stylist! Totally professional, really sweet and accommodating, and everyone looked amazing at the end. Also all three of us wanted false eyelashes but totally different false eyelashes. I am not a frequent yelper, but I felt the need to let people know how excellent of a job Brittney did. I texted her on a Friday requesting a Saturday apt for hair and makeup for a photo shoot I was doing. Bear in mind, I had never been to her before...she got right back to me letting me know that she would move her schedule around to accommodate me. Completely above and beyond the call. She did a spot-on job with my hair and the makeup was absolutely perfect. She listened to me when I said I wanted a natural look. I learned that a natural look doesn't necessarily mean very little makeup...she put a decent amount on, but it looked exactly how I wanted it to. Brittany is by far the best stylist I have went to. She's very honest with her opinions on your request and always has your best intentions at heart. Her salon is very cute and she makes you feel at home as soon as you step in. I mean, who doesn't love a nice glass of wine while getting your hair cut? I brought my mom to her recently for a cut and color. My mom has been using henna in her hair for a really long time. Instead of just coloring her hair like she wanted to, Brittany advised us not to since the bleach will seriously damage the hair if it tries to take the henna out. So instead we opted for a rich brown color that covers all of her gray hair. My mom is definitely coming back here to get her hair done for my sisters wedding. Hopefully the henna is out by then!! Brittney gave me one of the best haircuts I've had in the last few years. My hair had a lot of heat and chemical damage and she made sure to cut a lot of the damage off while still keeping some of my length. She added layers that I loved, I've tried getting other stylists to do it that way and they didn't seem to understand what I wanted. My hair feels so much better and feels great. You have to give her a try! This is my second experience going to Britney but my first time at Beach Vibes, the salon is clean and relaxing with refreshments and a beautiful view of Hermosa Beach. My first experience with her was at another salon in Santa Monica and I loved my first cut. I went in for a trim yesterday, I have long hair that is damaged from years of treatment. I told Britney I wanted to keep my hair long but I was also aware that i might be asking for too much considering how damaged my hair was. Not only was she able to transform my hair from dry and dull to soft and shiny but my hair is still long and I've been getting compliments all day. After she trimmed my hair, she asked me about my highlights and suggested a gloss to get rid of some of the brassy color, she sounded like she knew what she was talking about and she wasn't pushy at all so I felt like it was an honest suggestion/opinion and not just a sales pitch. I'm so glad I did and I'll definitely be coming to her when it's time to touch up my highlights. I didn't take a before picture because I wasn't expecting the transformation I got. Britney is friendly, professional and knows what she's doing. I went to see Brittney recently and she understood exactly what I was going for! I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she listened, but recommended a different cut because my goal is grow my hair and the cut I wanted is for someone who has longer hair than I currently do. She cut all of the heat damage I had and managed to somewhat keep my long length..minus the heat damage I've put my hair through! I also received a deep conditioning and that really helped my hair feel moisturized and soft. I will definitely continue to see Brittney...even at her new location..because this is honestly the best cut I've had. She really did listen to what I wanted and gave me her professional advise which I really appreciated because I mean....this is what she does for a living.
